Join us at The Barre this November for an exceptional afternoon celebrating the wines, architecture, and vision of one of Australia's most iconic winery destinations, Port Phillip Estate, hosted by proprietor Marco Gjergja. While guests gather in the heart of Melbourne's arts precinct, the afternoon will transport them to the dramatic landscapes of the Mornington Peninsula, where Port Phillip Estate has become a benchmark for cool-climate winemaking. Across four courses, enjoy a seasonal menu including kingfish ceviche, king brown mushroom, pressed lamb breast and bay leaf panna cotta, each paired with a Port Phillip Estate wine. Marco will guide guests through the pairings, from Amber Pinot Gris and Red Hill Chardonnay to Pinot Noir Shiraz and Salasso Rosé. Great for large groups and special occasions. Spaces are limited; we encourage you to book early to secure your seat.

There is something for everyone on the menu and moderately priced too. I would get there a little earlier to enjoy another glass of wine before the performance if you are attending a performance at one of the theatres or a gentle cantor to Hamer Hall.

The service for us was very poor. We sat at our table for 20 minutes before asking to be served. We were brought only one glass of champagne when we had ordered two glasses and had to wait 10 minutes for the second glass to be brought to our table. Food was fine when it arrived, but we ran out of time to eat properly. Not recommended

Great pre theatre food - good quality nice share plates and service was great given the speed they had to get through everyone.

Jacob was our waiter and hats off to him!! He remembered a comment I’d made last time I was there - that it would be great if staff waited by the table for just a couple of seconds until we looked at him/her. It’s far less of a startling interruption and way more respectful. Jacob remembered and did this. It was a pleasure! Great staff member!

We were a little disappointed with the change in menu. The lamb ribs are not a great alternative to tasty sliders and the ribs need to be quickly eaten very hot or else are a little fatty. We used to love the shredded pork sliders (more than the chicken ones) and they can be eaten summer or winter. The radish salad could have had a few more tomatoes but was still tasty.

The service at The Barre was excellent. Food very good however I would like there to be a couple more options in the snack menu as we like a quick and light meal before going to the theatre.

We have been coming to The Barre for a long time but unfortunately this visit was disappointing. The food was tasty and very nice but portion sizes - particularly on the chicken - were very small, especially when paying $36 for one tiny thigh swimming in sauce with nothing to mop it up without ordering bread. The chips were nice but flavourless in terms of potato taste and $12 for 4 very small slices of ciabatta was excessive. My husband's barramundi was fine and a bit better portion, however the $49 price tag was steep, to say the least. We are seasoned restaurant goers and are very happy to pay for lovely food and service. I know prices have escalated, but proximity to theatres ensures that this restaurant receives constant patronage - the bill being placed on our table after less than hour ensured it was free for the next round of diners - so it feels greedy and unecessary to charge this much for nice food and unexceptional service. Next time we'll go for a cheaper alternative.

Starting to look a bit shabby. The food still good but a bit limited in choice. More shared platters would be ideal

Our experience has been very positive. The young lady that served us was very helpful and professional despite working at the restaurant for only two weeks. She is truly a credit to Barre. The food is very good, relatively simple but testy and rather affordable. Other members of the team’s were friendly, efficient and willing to help. All in all a very pleasant experience. Thanks.
