Teahouse at Chinatown Ratings and Reviews
Tea house accommodated our group easily and the banquet option was suitable for everyone. My friend’s intolerance to onions was understood and catered for without any fuss. The wait staff were friendly and observant without being obvious. The location is good and quieter due to position opposite the Chinese Museum.
Teahouse at Chinatown never disappoints. The food is high quality and absolutely delicious. The service is friendly, professional and prompt. I especially like that it does not get too noisy in there and it is easy to hold a conversation. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Staff very welcoming and friendly, and they continued to be attentive throughout the meal. Food was great. Fresh ingredients, cooked to perfection. Food was served quickly, and changes made to orders were not a problem. There are cheaper Chinese restaurants in Chinatown, but for service and quality of food, this is the one to visit.
Everything was great! The food was delicious, the staff were friendly and the round tables with a lazy susan in the middle made it great for social interaction. I pick this venue based on good reviews which I can confirm were well earned. Thank you for such a great experience and we will be back! :)
I have been to the Teahouse at Chinatown a number of times. Generally the food and service have been very good. This time the food and particularly the service were excellent. I highly recommend this restaurant for very tasty chinese food for any celebratory or casual dining experience.
First of all, they didn't have our booking. (Apparently they don't check bookings from Open table which was a bit poor). We showed our confirmation and the chap was a bit bewildered. There was no apology at all. Eventually they gave us a table (it was not too comfortable as we couldn't get any air conditioning at our table). Despite this, the food was superb and the service was great. There was good choices for wine too. We been there many times as the food was great. We will go back but this time, ring up to make a booking instead of online booking.
We dined here for Chinese New Year and had a spectacular time, both food wise and entertainment (dragons and lions came through the restaurant adding to the occasion). The food was one better dish than the other. We tried all the entrees instead of sharing mains and the surprise dish, lobster omelette. It was like a soufle, light and fluffy with lobster meat. Light and delicious and wanted more so will be going back for that dish definately. The host/manager was a gentleman, apologising for the slight delay in getting our dishes out but we were interrupted by the entertainment and the restaurant was full capacity. I see why we had to pre book! Its grey interior is a bit passe but the rest of the experience made up for that. Wine list was reasonable, perhaps the restaurant can consider more Rose options and whites?? thank you for a lovely evening and yummy food experience, we will be back!! regards
Excellent service, fresh seafood, very good GF menu. This was a family dinner for 6 people, one of whom is celiac and needs GF food. She was well looked after whilst the other 5 had a lovely Cantonese meal. The food is good, the wine list is small but well chosen and reasonably priced, and the ambience is pleasing. The price for the dinner was very reasonable in my view. I have been to this restaurant many times over the years and continue to think it is as good as any Chinese restaurant in Melbourne and certainly at the price.
