Teahouse at Chinatown
Saturday: 5:30pm - 11:00pm
Very good choice of both food and wine well priced with good service
Lovely food, very tasty. Dishes could have been slightly larger portions as we were a group of 8 people so were sharing. Wine list was lovely but bottles were quite expensive. Overall we had a great night.
Many Cantonese banquets brin* out multiple courses st once, or rush you through. Not so here! Leisurely service with a nice relax between courses. Our $80 banquet took us about two hours to finish. Great service.
And the food....superb. Recommended 10/10
Food and service were excellent.
At Tea House the staff are friendly and very efficient, cope with requests easily, food is very high quality and wine list has plenty of good wine to choose from, the decor is getting a little dated but this is a great place to meet, it is quiet and pleasant.
Egg and lobster is a great dish as is the scallops, but plenty of great Chinese dishes .
Awesome Mother’s Day lunch with 14 old and very young members of the family
Outstanding food and very good value. Service is very good, ambience is quiet and pleasant.
Had booked for 5.30 opening time for pre theatre dinner we walked in right on opening and wasn’t the warmest welcoming the manager kept looking at his watch while seating us as if we had arrived too early we felt very uncomfortable, after this though we could not fault the service, the food and enjoyed a beautiful Heathcote Shiraz... Peking duck was amazing and the entrees we ordered to share were fresh and flavoursome. Our night ended up surprisingly enjoyable would definatley recommend to everyone
Food quite good and reasonably priced. Service totally underwhelming. We had to ask for menues then ask to order then ask twice for a wine list. Eventually ordered wine and were told they were out of our choice then again out of our second choice. There was no forthcoming explanation or suggestion of another wine. Really no engagement from staff at all over the whole evening. Disappointing and would not bother returning.
Had our family Chinese New Year lunch here on the weekend and it was really nice. Dishes exceeded expectations and everyone was very happy with the food. Peking duck was really good. Will definitely come back here!
Great location tucked away on a lane way along little Bourke st. Staff are friendly and excellent with customer service. Food arrived promptly and was delicious. The restaurant was very busy due to Chinese NY but we didn’t feel it impacted their service. Great value menu.
Tea House is one of my "Go-To" for business lunches in Melbourne. The service is prompt and you can organise with the team to either take as long or short as required on service of the meal depending on your limitations/freedoms.
Excellent unobtrusive service. Good quality food.
Very formal. Mains are good for 2 so we Ordered lots for sharing. Booked 8 people and we spent $180 and we were full!
We have been to the Teahouse many times and we always enjoy the food and the staff are friendly. It is a favourite of ours for a dinner date or family occasions.
Restaurant chinois d’hôtel correct dans le genre, sans plus
Always excellent in both service and quality The friendly staff are happy to offer advice on the menu (if required) and are very attentive. Great Chinese food.
Tea house accommodated our group easily and the banquet option was suitable for everyone. My friend’s intolerance to onions was understood and catered for without any fuss. The wait staff were friendly and observant without being obvious. The location is good and quieter due to position opposite the Chinese Museum.
As usual, The Tea House was brilliant. We have never left the restaurant feeling that it was awful. The venue is great for couples, family groups, they will accommodate everyone.
We drive 1 hour to get there and always enjoy the meal.
I have been a regular at tea house Chinatown and Burke road camberwell although the food is great and the younger waiters are great I done really know if it’s worth the dollars it is very very $$ so I have decided it’s not worth it for the amount you get.
I have been to this restaurant times and have not been disappointed. The food and service are always very good. This time we had the 6 course banquet that was very varied and just enough. Great location for pre-theatre eating.
Very nice food and the service was eventually attentive. First time in a while we have cleaned up every scrap.
Teahouse at Chinatown never disappoints. The food is high quality and absolutely delicious. The service is friendly, professional and prompt. I especially like that it does not get too noisy in there and it is easy to hold a conversation. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Everything was lovely except there was 5 waiters standing around chatting and never looked our way to gain some service.
Very nice food with great service - some gluten free options (wish there was more as I am coeliac) but at least they knew about my dietary requirements. Very nice atmosphere with great table service.
excellent food in a nice environment with friendly professional service duck is particularly good
Very delicious food & attentive service. Look forward to out next visit.
As usual it was just to die for - Shannon you are the best! Must go for wonderful food, low to zero noise, great ambience and just the right way to dine.
I love the relaxed feel of this place – like a comfortable dining room. I definitely would return to try more dishes. Service was well-timed and friendly.
Very pleasant environment, good service an d the food was very good. Not so happy about being asked for a tip! This should be covered in the price of the food.
Staff very welcoming and friendly, and they continued to be attentive throughout the meal. Food was great. Fresh ingredients, cooked to perfection. Food was served quickly, and changes made to orders were not a problem. There are cheaper Chinese restaurants in Chinatown, but for service and quality of food, this is the one to visit.
Food was average, the peking duck was not good. The way they slice the skin is poorly done and left a lot of meat stick with the skin, which is not a good thing.
Everything was great! The food was delicious, the staff were friendly and the round tables with a lazy susan in the middle made it great for social interaction. I pick this venue based on good reviews which I can confirm were well earned. Thank you for such a great experience and we will be back! :)
Terrific service even though it was Mother's Day and the restaurant was fully booked.
Food was delicious. Overall a great Mother's Day lunch.
Great lunch banquet as always, we took the double duck option. Service always friendly. Wine list good selection.
I have been to the Teahouse at Chinatown a number of times. Generally the food and service have been very good. This time the food and particularly the service were excellent. I highly recommend this restaurant for very tasty chinese food for any celebratory or casual dining experience.
Great meals and excellent service. Set menu was all good.
Great food, great ambiance, good value. I would definitely go back!
Lovely traditional Chinese fare, cooked well and served with pride. We enjoyed every dish and will definitely go back again.
