The place could be so great, but the service was very slow and we had to chase up our breakfast on a day when the cafe wasn’t very busy. The bathrooms were also a bit grim.

Good location and ambience. Staff were nice and good customers vibe too. One hiccup though: my partner chose intentionally the normal milk and wished to see a proper coffee art on the top. Turned out it was just a splash of foam. She was disappointed right from that point, unfortunately.

Appalling service. I had booked in advance and confirmed twice a lunch booking for Christmas Day. I had my family with me including my elderly parents. On arrival, there was no table. The owner/manager said it was ‘out of his control’ as previous patrons were not leaving after the allocated 90-120 minutes per booking. We waited 40 minutes for the owner / manager to put two small round tables together. He didn’t wipe the tables down. There were low staff waiting on tables. I could only see one young lady running around doing her best to service countless tables. Our booking had been for 1:45pm. Our food arrived at 3:30pm. It was appalling. A Christmas Day lunch with family that was meant to be a joyous occasion turned into a gut wrenchingly miserable experience. The owner/manager didn’t care. He was focused on providing countless of rounds of alcoholic drinks to the nearby long table of 20 or so guests. If you can’t provide a service on Christmas Day, then don’t advertise that you can. This was the most appalling dining experience I’ve ever experienced. Shame on you BENTWOOD FITZROY CAFE for diminishing my family’s 2025 christmas.

We went Xmas day, thinking it would be quiet. Not at all. It was chaotic, and understaffed. It took an hour for our food to arrive after repeatedly asking the waiter for a time check. The restaurant was in disarray with plates piled high on empty tables. When the food arrived it tasted good but the vegetables were undercooked. If it wasn’t Xmas day it may have been okay, but don’t open your doors unless you can staff it properly.

Very poor service. Drinks and food took far too long unfortunately. And it wasn’t busy at all. I ordered an elderflower spritz and it was awful. The avocado toast was lovely.

Food and coffee were very good. Looked like they were short staffed but that didn't effect us much. Coffee aroma was so good. I'd go back again.

This is probably the worst cafe I’ve ever visited. We booked an outdoor seating which was in a very small courtyard right behind the restaurant. There are 2-3 small tables, unused garden patio umbrellas and a locker in that tiny courtyard. It’s so filthy and dusty in that area, feel like it’s never been cleaned. We waited for our food for about 45mins, I’m not sure why it’s taking so long because it’s not busy at all, probably only seated with 5 tables of people. Food and coffee were overpriced.
