Soi Fire is Australia's first Thai grill house — a modern Asian fusion restaurant and Thai charcoal grill on the old Hugo's corner at 33 Bayswater Road, Potts Point, in the heart of Kings Cross, Sydney.The kitchen is led by chef Tony Doan, awarded a Good Food Guide chef hat for his cooking at Soi 25. Everything begins at the fire. Charcoal skewers built for sharing — sweet soy chicken, grilled pork neck, crocodile satay and the signature wagyu sirloin rubbed in toasted massaman spice — sit alongside ember-roasted eggplant, hibachi scallops on the shell, crispy-skin coral trout in choo chee curry, chilli jam fried rice and an 800g wagyu rib eye on the bone.The room is dark and loud — low light, charcoal smoke, a Thai-leaning cocktail list and wines from Bacchanalia — one of the few late-night dining rooms left in Kings Cross.
