Rainforest Cafe - Chicago Downtown
Great food and service
It was a wonderful place to celebrate a family birthday and graduation! Staff was very accomodating! Everything was delicious. Always love the atmosphere.
If you have little children, this is the place to be. We have four kids under 6 and they LOVED it. They are their dinners and we’re entertained by animals, rainstorms, even a balloon artist. It was a highlight of our trip to Chicago for our little kids.
Good food great atmosphere fun place for all ages😁
Amazing time! Drive 2.5 hours because everyone keeps taking about this place. They were right!
I chose Rainforest cafe because I knew my three year old daughter would love the their atmosphere. My desert was very delicious, but my dinner was only ok.
This restaurant is perfect for people with children. The entire environment is geared towards children. A few servers had a tricks up their sleeves.....LITERALLY. One visited a few tables and performed small magic tricks. Another walked around creating balloon farm animals. Definitely a plus for anyone looking for a decent dinner.
Additionally, our long islands were the BOMB! Prices were a little high, but it’s CHICAGO...what do you expect
Birthday party for my son. We had a great time.
Great place for kids! Food is better than it was in the past. My 6 & 3 year old boys had a blast.
The food was not good and the service was slow. We arrived promptly at 6pm and had reservations at that time. It took them 10 minutes to seat us and at 6:21 we had to ask where was our waitress so that we might have water. They did sing happy birthday to my 25 year old daughter and that made her happy.
The Only think I didn’t like was , I noticed 3 separate tables who ordered the lava cake and RC staff members came and sung Happy Birthday while clapping. Well when they brung us ours it was nothing special. No singing no clapping and we were offended
Fun place with all the animatronics, but way too much unhealthy, poor tasting food. Kids and adults don’t need to be eat a lot of fried foods. Cut the menu down to some healthier choices and i would rate it higher!
Horrible food & service. Food was bland & cold. We had to search for our waitress many times
The service is great here! My niece absolutely LOVED everything! The only problem was the food was okay. My steak I ordered medium rare came to the table completely cooked through. The waiter kindly sent it back and I then received a properly cooked steak. I’d come back to bring kids though for sure! Go for the fun, not so much the food.
Our waiter was fantastic. He provided exceptional service and helpful menu suggestions. My nephews enjoyed the waiter’s magic tricks and we appreciated his positive energy. Great ambiance!
We have eaten at other Rain Forest Cafes. They were all great experiences. Our Chicago visit had a few things that made it even better than others. Our waitress, Jennifer, was wonderful! She was kind, quick, helpful and fun. Another thing, our food was exceptional!
I gave my overall score a 4 for one reason only. The restaurant was very warm. Then, we were seated upstairs which was even warmer. That was our only negative experience. Everything else was perfect!
We have been many times because the kids really enjoy the ambiance. However, this time the table and chairs were dirty and the service was slow.
Took our 9 month old baby there for the first time. She was in awe...cool for kids. Was strange to see some couples on dates without kids though. Especially with the amount of dining options in Chicago.
Food was spectacularly bland, but the server was nice a dm y kids loved it.
Such a magical place for the kids! They always love going there.
We made a reservation and ended up waiting for 45 minutes for a table when there were plenty of open tables. The hostess and servers had no idea what was going on and our server complained about how many tables he had.
Simple things are uncalled for such as not providing napkins when asked. I asked at least 10 times before even receiving any mind you we had a party of 19 and mostly kids. When she did bring some she only gave me one. That was it. So I had to ask for more and made it clear that there is a lot of us. Not to mention our server forgot one of our meals. A manager had to bring it out and that was 20 mins after everyone else got theirs. A few orders were incorrect but not sent back, instead another server helped out. The server was arguing about my souvenir cup. She did not want to give me the cups that I ordered instead she said she was doing me a favor by discounting the drink when in fact I did not care to have my drink discounted I wanted an extra cup. She brought out to go boxes and we needed more so when I asked for more she's like ok I got it, yet was still short. So we then had to wait again for more boxes. We did come out to celebrate my sons birthday, I didn't ask for the cake to be brought out when it was. I asked for her to wait as we where trying to still put leftover food in the to go boxes. They came out and I wasn't ready nor was anyone else nor my camera. I asked not to light the sparkler because my son was scared of them and she still did. My son was terrified of his own cake and tried to run away from the table. When the check came, which I didn't ask for yet, she gave it to my parents. I was paying the bill so they should have never seen the amount. This was one of the worse experiences I've had here. The tone in this servers voice and how rude she was is uncalled for. I have experience as a server and this was not how to treat people nor is it how you talk to customers. I cant tell you her name because I do not recall her introducing herself. So I did not catch her name. We use to love this place and honestly tis has been a terrible experience even to my son.
I don't feel you should have to buy a glass to get a beer. This should be optional. Also I didn't like your server wanting us too buy some program through your restaurant chain. It made the experience of your restaurant less fun.
Food took a pretty long time to come out and a meal was forgotten for one in the party. Other than that, great.
We had a good time at dinner. The food was just okay but the experience for my daughter was worth it. She loved the icee in the fun cup & the guy who came to our table to make her a balloon creation. The environment was cool too! Pricing is just okay as well. You are paying for the environment.
It's a once and done experience for kids as the food alone is overpriced given its nothing special quality. The animatronic beasts werr fun for our 10 yr. old a couple of times through but not fun enough to keep up her enthisiasm after that. Not crowded and service was not good; fair to say "unattended."
I think the Rainforest needs an overhaul. Especially the menu. I was dissappointed.
Ambiance is neat, however they were way understaffed. Our food was cold and not prepared as requested- most certainly was not worth the price. The bathrooms were also disgusting
Food was disgusting but server was good
We were late due to weather, still got seated right away. Philly cheese steak was great, my son really enjoyed his burger. Balloon guy is always a nice touch. Waitress was friendly and attentive. My only complaint would be the kids mac and cheese is not good. The microwave kraft stuff is better. My 6 year old wouldnt eat it. When i informed the waitress she gladly brought him out some nuggets. We live in the suburbs but make the drive to this location because the food and service is great. One last thing, after spending over $100 for dinner and another $50 or so in gift shop i would think parking would be atleast discounted....
I’ve been to multiple locations and this is by far the worst. The service was terrible. We were never checked on after we received our food, never offered refills, and had to wait with finished plates in front of us for our waiter to bring us a check.
When making the reservation, I put that it was my daughter’s birthday. When the ticket to seat us was printed, it said on it that we were celebrating her birthday. There were birthday celebrations all around us but they never sang to her and at that point I wanted to leave so I didn’t find our non-existent waiter to ask.
The food was luke warm at best. Definitely the worst food I’ve had at a Rainforest establishment.
The only saving grace about this was the obvious ambiance of the restaurant will make any kid (or even adult) somewhat enjoy themselves. Other than that, I do not recommend this location at all.
Way too expensive for the food. Food choices were limited. I just wanted a steak and side, but had to get a combo plate even though I had no desire for shrimp! And of course pay twice as much! Kids liked the place because they had never been, but now that they have seen it there's no need to ever return. I will spend $250 on better food and better food choices elsewhere!
We showed up for open table reservations on time and were told to stand aside and wait for a table to be set up then 15 minutes later we were seated. Then they told open table we failed to show. Food was cold and service was poor as well.
Took forever for food to come and service was slow. Restaurant wasn’t even busy and it was a Saturday at lunch. No fish in the tanks. Very disappointing!
Not a good experience. My chicken panini tasted like fish, the coleslaw had no flavor. The bathrooms smelled horrible. We won't be back.
Had reservation, and when we arrived 6 minutes before time, was told we'd have to wait the 6 minutes. There were literally zero people waiting as it was late evening. 15 minutes later we are still standing while hostess was chatting on the phone. We finally go ask, and there like "oh yeah, go on upstairs "and hands us a slip. Upstairs seating was maybe 1/4 full. Then it was long wait for average over priced food. Atmosphere is only reason to go here.
You go to Rainforest Cafe for the ambiance. Food is ok. Service was slow but I think they over-seat the servers so not necessarily their fault. Price for meals is average to high.
I always enjoy the theming of the Rainforest Cafes; although this branch was fairly small it was still an enjoyable evening. Tables were inning slightly behind due to a large party, but the staff were very friendly and welcoming.
Perfect treat for families. Kids love it. Excellent choices on menus. Variety.
