Mercato e Cucina Ratings and Reviews
The food was good but over priced. The service was not good - when I suggested that the salt grinder didn't work the wait staff told me that I was wrong! not a good look. The retail area was a huge disappointment - my friends came ready to 'buy up big' but there was hardly anything to buy. What's happening - the place looks like it is closing down. The coffee from the bakery was good.
8 of us enjoyed lunch here. To start, we shared 3 pizzas followed by the Gnocchi, the Duck Fusilli and the Beetroot Risotto and 2 salads. There was plenty and it was all delicious and washed down with 2 bottles of Sauvignon Blanc. Desserts were really excellent too. Very reasonable and highly recommended
Went for Valentines dinner and was pleasantly surprised food and service was excellent! Normally on these occasions the food and service with a set menu is under par, but not this time. We did have an early dinner (6pm), so it wasn't busy yet. Highly recommended!
My Fiancé and I loved everything about our experience at Mercato Cucina.
From the moment we walked in until the very end when we went home with restaurant made bread.
The staff were very helpful and made sure we were looked after.
The food, my goodness. From the very first dishes our antipasto then mains were amazing we really enjoyed it. We also enjoyed our glass of red and wanted to company it with a platter of cheese and asked the waiter if it was possible... he said he would ask the chef.
He came back and told us the chef would be more then happy to make the cheese platter for us. The chef made a beautiful plate with cheeses from all over the world with fruit and dried grapes. And to finish off we had deserts that tasted amazing. Our experience was one we will not forget. And will go back to.
The food here was excellent, except for my partners meal. He asked for his serlion steak cooked medium but it came well done and it was tough meat. For the price we paid for this meal it was not worth it. A bit disappointed. I would recommend this restaurant as the food was very tasty but I would not go back myself because even though food was nice the service was very slow and the attitude from some waiters were very rude.
We celebrated my partners birthday here and when the cake was brought out there was no knife to cut it and had to wait nearly 10 minutes for a knife.
Every time we asked for a drink it took a minimum of 10 to 15 minutes to bring our drinks and some times it was only 1 beer we asked for. It should not take 10 minutes to bring a beer to the table.
Having been a regular in the coffee and deli area of Mercato e Cucina in Gladesville, we were happy to find the dining restaurant followed up the same warm Italian-style family service and good-hearted meals. Service and the chefs' work was all very enjoyable - the menu interesting and the delivered meals - both pastas and the fish and pork - interesting and value-able.
We will continue to regard Mercato highly and look forward to further visits to this slightly out-of-the-way-of the-usual restaurant.
Our waiter was hard to understand and he left or finished his shift half way through our evening. This meant no other waiter specifically looked after us. We waited ages for our desserts to be take and had to call a waiter for drinks. It is fairly expensive.
This is the third time we have eaten at the Restaurant and it did not fail to please us again in terms of the food and wine. We were a party of 6 people having a Christmas get together as well as celebrating a 70th Birthday. We did find the restaurant a little noisy but for the time of year and good cheer around that is to be expected. Due to a misunderstanding one meal order was incorrect but the matter was rectified without quibble and the correct meal provided speedily. We enjoyed a Sicilian Pinot Grigio with our food. Staff were most pleasant and friendly. We will be back.
I found the service to be quite slow but they were very friendly, we had to keep flagging them down to make orders etc but when they did come over they were very friendly. The food was really good and the portion sizes were so generous. meals were served in a timely manner and the variety was great.
Food is good, but main meal servings are very small. We were hungrier after dinner than we were before dining. My guests shared the same view and were even compelled to complain about it to our waiter. I don't complain. I vote with my feet and it will be a long time before my wife and I dine at MeC again.
We had read some poor reviews so were a little nervous coming here with our friends. Although we made the table booking well in advance we were taken to the worst table in the restaurant. Next to a very large group in a walkway. We asked to be moved to a quieter area and ended up sitting next to the cold meat cabinet. In spite of that bad beginning we had a great night. The service was excellent and food delious. A little over priced for a cafe but a great night.
This was one of, if not the best restaurant we have ever eaten at. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive. The food was absolutely delicious and very prompt. The only criticism we had was the portions were a little small for the price of the meals. However we would still rate our dining experience as 5 stars
Food didn't really live up to the promise and price. I had a pizza and it was OK - bit sloppy and not really all that exciting and in the end just fell a bit short of what I think ought be delivered given the prices. I ate here with six others for a work dinner - cost abut $80 a head including a few beers and a couple of bottles of wine. Good service and atmosphere though.
Just awesome, for coffee, lunch, deli, gourmet grocery, beautiful dinner of Modern Italian in an Australian contemporary way. Well done guys
Love it for lunch, coffee, gourmet grocery and dinner we as amazing! This is a food destination you have to go and try.
Went for brunch and was so glad to see some different items on the menu from the standard Eggs Benedict and big breakfast you see everywhere else. The food was delicious and reasonably priced and portion sizes were perfect.
They seemed understaffed with only 1 waitress and 1 barista on the day we went, so getting a second round of coffee or paying the bill took a while. Not a sticking point though and would definitely come back... that cabinet of pastries, cakes and baked goods is WAY too tempting!
The menu had changed since we last ate here and the food was beautifully cooked, with fresh ingredients and plenty of flavour. There were four of us and we shared a Napoletana pizza followed by four different entree sized pasta/risotto meals (all exquisite!) We shared two desserts and I'd have to say the Sinfonia di Cioccolato was out of this world! The service was friendly and attentive and as usual, it feels like you've had an authentic Italian experience.
