Expensive, but worth it. The duck is a must order. Everything ordered was really good, but table mates all wanted to taste the duck.
My favorite restaurant!
This is consistently one of the most reliable and outstanding restaurants in NYC.
Always a pleasant experience. Service was excellent and the food was top notch. Especially good ambiance for conversation and great wine list.
Always excellent and innovative. Lovely UES experience that is quintessential for fine dining
One of our favorite restaurants that never disappoints.
An excellent dinner. Excellent oysters, bass and chicken and for dessert shared ice cream. The bass is a signature dish and always great. The chicken preparation changes from time to time but this preparation is the best I ever had at Cafe Boulud.
We always enjoy Cafe Boulud and they never disappoint. Very highly recommended
Brunch was perfectly delightful in every way!! We really enjoyed dining here.
Everything was great except the quince tatin dessert, which was far too sweet and had an odd texture. Other than that, everything else was top-notch. The gracious staff makes every customer feel special.
This was our second Thanksgiving at Cafe Boulud. We like feeling pampered without being too formal and this room hits the right balance. We deviated from tradition and had the sirloin with red wine sauce this year. It was tender and flavorful and the portion was big enough for us to make a sandwich the next day. There were some small and unusual missteps with the service at first. Our appetizers arrived before the wine order was taken and the bread basket didn't get to us until near the end of the first course. But the smooth sailing and delicious food after that more than made up for the mildly rocky start.
Because we ate at Cafe Boulud for Thanksgiving, it was not a typical experience. Usually I love eating at cafe Boulud, but at Thanksgivng every seemed so pre-packaged.
A wonderful place to have a special meal . The food is superb; the service is the best; the wine selection is soooo good, and recommendations are spot-on; and even the other guests lend a feeling of specialness. All together, Cafe Boulud is a wonderful place.
Second time at Café Boulud. An amazing experience again. Every thing was perfect.
I’m French and leaving in France. I wish we had Café Boulud in France!
A bit disappointing as compared to previous experiences. But tolerable.
Outstanding, unrushed, professional, exciting seasonal menu impeccably done.
Food was served at the wrong temperature and while the staff was apologetic, no compensation was forthcoming. Not worth the Michelin stars.
Great food & service
Outstanding food only to be equaled by the exceptional service. Cafe Boulud is elegant yet festive. A wonderful dining experience.
Delicious! Service was great and food was great. Went for breakfast and got the smoked salmon👌
I had a delightful experience here celebrating my birthday today! I receieved a warm welcome and the food was amazing! I was gonna get the three course lunch menu but I saw the lamb shank so I passed. Lamb shank was so tender and juicy. I couldn't ask for more. They also gave out complimentary bread with butter. The bathroom and dining area was well kept and clean.
Everything was wonderful.
The staff there were so accommodating to me since I screwed up and made the reservation for 2 instead of 4. Even so, they helped us with a table and had us seated.
The food was phenomenal, I had the hiramasa crudo and the venison loin. Two people got the lamb shank which looked beyond amazing.
Staff was attentive, courteous, and knowledgable. Will definitely be coming back (with proper reservations this time)
We had an excellent meal with wonderful service. We arrived 30 minutes in advance of our reservation and were accommodated immediately. Our server brought me a custom non-alcoholic cocktail made according to my preferences. The staff also pointed out that the pumpkin soup contained chicken broth therefore was not suitable for vegetarians which demonstrated good knowledge of the menu. Finally the chocolate soufflé was outstanding and a wonderful conclusion to a delicious meal. Thank you!
Food was delicious and service was incredible. Went for a date during lunch.
We went to Cafe Bouloud for the weekend brunch. All three courses were exquisite. The service was excellent. Don’t believe what some reviewers have said: this restaurant definitely deserves its Michelin star. Truly outstanding!
Superb in every way. From arriving to leaving the experience is excellent. A satisfying interior, great arrangement of seats and tables. Menu innovative, seasonal and creative and yet always excellent. Great wine list. Our server Thanos, is a professional, adding to the overall seamless experience.
Exellent food and service
Tables are too close to each other
Two of the three main courses were failures.
The restaurant did not charge us for one of them.
Cafe Boulud is always packed because it always delivers — and no less so now that its kitchen is under the direction of Executive Chef Jerrod Zifchak. The latest in the restaurant’s series of megatalented chefs, Jerrod is slowly but surely putting his own imprint on this storied Upper East Side restaurant which is as beloved by insiders for its cuisine as for its outstanding wine and cocktail program, service, and ambiance. A New York City classic for good reason.
Absolutely excellent as usual.
I live in the San Francisco area and always try to eat at cafe Boulud when I’m in NYC. I’m never disappointed.
Great place for a special occasion. We were there for lunch. Pre fix courses was very good.
Café Boulud was a bit sterile. Food was ok. Service was ok. The scoop of ice cream for desert was very small. Very expensive and but has opportunities.
We arrived for our reservation, and our table was not ready. We had to wait in the bar for 30 minutes before being seated. During that time other diners appeared to be seated before us. We were not offered anything to compensate for this lengthy delay. We had a brunch reservation, so we arrived hungry after touring the Met. We waited for 15 minutes without anyone giving us an update. After I approached the host, he told me he was working on it. It was very frustrating that we were ushered into a dark bar and forced to wait after having a reservation. The noise level in the small dining room is intense.
When we were finally seated, we were next to the station where the servers enter food items. We actually sat for at least 5 minutes before the server approached us, despite our too close proximity to the server hub. The food was very good. But, it was hard to get over the lengthy delay.
At a recent Sunday brunch, Café Boulud provided an outstanding dining experience! The room is elegant with soft lighting and beautiful appointments, but the food is the star. From the first warm baguette with butter, each of the three courses was delicious. My Frisse salad was outstanding and authentically French with warm lardons, a light dressing and a perfectly poached egg. The Croque Madame was a delectable combination of ham, Gruyere cheese and a fried egg on top of a fresh croissant. Highly recommended!
Formulaic food at a Michelin restaurant
More a food factory than a fine dining
Service was no adequate. Seating arrangement in the restaurant was very confined.
This restaurant does it right, and when that’s the case you get consistency, which is always the challenge - for restaurants and diners; I had not been here for a couple of years and was so happy to return. The menu is creative AND easily understood; the wine by the glass selection, like all Chef Boulud’s restaurants IS the standard, always terrific selections; service was extremely polished and professional. What a lovely experience!
Excellent service and food
Wonderful food and service...as usual.Thank you.
Wow! The food was delicious! I got a pumpkin soup, my husband got French onion soup, and then I got the venison. The desserts, I don’t even know where to begin except that it was so good I took tiny bites to savor. And their coffee was good (I don’t know how many times I’ve had truly bad coffee at a “fancy” restaurant. Not so at cafe boulud. Coffee was a solid good cup). Everything was very tasty and beautifully presented. The wait staff was proactive and very friendly. We’ll definitely go back.
