Located in the heart of Brooklyn's Park Slope, Benchmark Restaurant features a New American menu focused on pasture-raised animals and locally-grown produce. Executive Chef Ryan Jaronik has created a diverse menu that melds the traditional and the contemporary with global influences. Featured is a section of à la carte steaks and chops offering up to five different cuts, including a 24oz Bone-in Ribeye and an 10oz Filet Mignon. Other favorites include Seared Foie Gras, Seared Diver Scallops and Philly Cheese Steak Empanadas.

Between the '20s & '40s, the space that now occupies Benchmark was used as an icehouse and major way station for goods that that arrived on the banks of the Gowanas Canal. While excavating, several "benchmarks" (surveyor's marks) were found, along with architects' tools, some of which are displayed on the restaurant's walls. Benchmark's rich history and naturally rustic interior is enhanced by warm exposed brick, arched windows and spacious garden seating.

If you are looking for a very filling meal with many red meat options (there are also options for fish eaters and vegetarians), this is superbly, creatively prepared food. Slightly on the heavy side, so maybe best for winter, but we ate there in the middle of summer and it was still fantastic. Wonderful, friendly service, beautiful space. Highly recommended.

Benchmark is a stylish steakhouse restaurant that is an excellent choice, whether you're looking for a quiet meal in their dining room or their heated tent, or you prefer live entertainment, which was available as well at curbside on the recent Wednesday evening when we visited. The superb 16 oz NY strip is an especially good value at Benchmark! And, the service is outstanding. Our server, "Moose," was very friendly and most accommodating. We heartily recommend Benchmark!

The service was poor. Took a long time for us to be waited on. The server didn’t know anything about wine, and insisted that I order not by the name, but the bottle number in the wine menu! The food, when it came, was good though. I have had excellent experiences in the restaurant in the past, though, so this may reflect the current labor shortage.

Very quiet dinner on a Sunday early evening. The duck was good. The salmon was undercooked and not seasoned. Meal not up to remembered standard.

The brunch menu includes pancakes, French toast, and eggs, as well as typical lunch items. The service and the food were excellent. This is our fifth time having Saturday or Sunday brunch, and the food and the service were always good.

We are frequent patrons of Benchmark and have always enjoyed our dining experiences. However, this time was different. The food varied from delicious to dried out. The service was slow, but that was understandable because they had a large party and service has been slow everywhere lately. The killer was the surcharge on the bill for using a credit card without any notice or warning. it will be a long time before we return to Benchmark and only if they change the surcharge policy.

The food here was great. Amazing steak. It took a little long to take our order but overall we really liked it. Beautiful outdoor tent seating area. We will be going back.
