Barley Mac Ratings and Reviews
We had a reservation, so we were seated right away. The waiter was very attentive and had great food and drink recommendations. We started with the Coccoli....1/2 the table didn’t really enjoy it, the other half thought it was good. The 3 meals ordered were the NY strip (great!), the filet special (awesome!), and the short ribs (amazing!). We also tried all of the 4 sides. The fries were good, all the rest were fantastic. We will visit again and I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone !!
Was my second time eating here and all 4 were very disappointed. Two different Cocktails terrible, calamari was very good, but the entrees were just ok. My pasta primavera was overcooked pasta and little flavor. Ribs also just ok.
Would not return for dinner with many other more options in Arlington.
To bad since my first lunch was a great experience and I was looking forward to a great dinner.
The website was not clear until when brunch is served and when dinner begins. I called ahead and the person who answered the phone told me brunch ends at 3 PM. I asked if after that time is the regular dinner menu and she said yes, so we booked a 3 PM reservation because we wanted dinner. I arrived at 3 only to learn that they only serve happy hour snacks between 3 to 4 and that dinner starts after 4. At no point, either on the site or the phone, did anyone warn that there will be no full menu for an hour in the day. This is common practice for other restaurants to advertise such fact or to even close down for an hour or two between lunch and dinner. The website simply says they are open 1030 to 2 am on weekends, and their menus do not mention the times available. We waited until 4 to order and the food was delicious, but the unexpected wait soured the experience.
We were celebrating a birthday and the food was excellent. Service was very good considering the restaurant was quite crowded. Difficult to have a conversation with fellow diners at the table because the noise level was extremely loud. Between the high ceilings, concrete floor and open kitchen, I'm not sure that there is much that they can do to alleviate the noise issues.
What a gem! The setting is modern, staff are friendly and very helpful and the lunch noise level was low (several empty inside tables). I requested a change in preparation of one of the dishes and not only was it acceptable to the server but she made helpful suggestions for additions. The pappardelle with lobster and peas was absolutely delicious. A return is obligatory!
I made a reservation in advance but it may not be necessary. The food was delicious but the drinks were just ok. The service was fine except that the waiter disappeared after we were served and we had to flag down the hostess to get our check. If I were in DC again, I would consider going back. It had a nice vibe and we enjoyed our meals.
Our service was amazing, and drinks, appetizers, and dessert were all very good. Entrees however were a bit disappointing- 2 of us ordered the Special (Squid Ink Pasta) and both wished we had gone in a different direction. The scallops were a bit "mushy" and it almost seemed like the pasta itself had been made in bulk and sat in a big pot all day just waiting to be ordered. Like I said, apps and service were awesome, but I was bummed over the entree. The atmosphere outside is great too but I think an extra light or two wouldn't hurt!
Came to town to visit for the weekend from New York. Found this restaurant on Yelp and made a reservation because it had a lot of good reviews. It was definitely not a let down. All the food was absolutely delicious. I had the lobster paperdelle ala carbonara (the lobster was slightly over cooked but tasted delicious anyway) and my grandmother had the salmon. She said it was light and delicious but a good sized portion. The dessert was great. She had chocolate gelato which was incredible and I had the lemon meringue taste which was delicious. Great service as well. Will absolutely recommend to people if they come to the DC area. A little bit on the expensive side but a great meal nonetheless.
Food is always great here and so are the drinks. This particular time I went we sat outdoors. It got dark quickly and we couldn't see the menus. I wish there were more lights around to see across the table. At one point I took out my phone and used it as a flash light. When my food came, I couldn't see what I was stabbing with my fork. This has happened before at the bar-side indoors. I recommend a booth if you want to see. The server wasn't around when we needed him and he walked away when we were ready to order. I would go back again for the food and drinks. Noise level outside is usually lower than inside.
Pleasantly surprised by Barley Mac. Had walked by many times while running errands, finally got a chance to have lunch and brought my office with me. Service was spot-on, thoughtful and perfect. Food was just as ordered and quite delicious. We sat outside and enjoyed a great fall day. Couldn't have been much better.
We ate at Barley Mac while in DC for the weekend. It was a perfect place for an early dinner after a day of sightseeing and walking around the city. The outside seating was very pleasant and the waiter was very friendly and attentive. We would definitely go back when we are in the city again.
