This might be one of the most exciting sushi experiences I’ve ever had. (Hosted) @akiro.us is a Japanese-Peruvian spot that married those cuisines so well! They have such creative nigiri (like chocolate shaved onto unagi) and amazing appetizers like hamachi ceviche even the fresh guac was good! The hand rolls were the star of the show. I had a tie between the octopus anticucho and the short rib. The Peruvian flavors really shined bright with these! every bite felt fresh, flavorful and different from the usual sushi dinner. Akiro in River North is one of those sushi spots you’ll forever tell people about. Sitting right up at the bar to one of their four hand roll bars, you will get to experience the true precision and perfection that comes along with their delicious hand rolls and nigiri. We came and tried just about every option on the menu, and believe us when we say there was not a single bad bite! Our favorites were the tuna nigiri, a dish that sounds so simple, but that’s is delivered with startling perfection. We also loved the Acevichado and the Octopus Anticucho, two hand rolls absolutely packed with tuna octopus respectively, and filled to the brim with flavors of Japan and Peru. And, don’t miss out on their Matcha Tres Leches cake. Chris is a tres leches stan, and this is one of his favorites! Don’t forget to put Akiro into your date night rotation! #hosted #chicagofoodie #datenight #chicagofood

The ultimate spot for hand rolls 🍣 @akiro.us . I had such an incredible dining experience at Akiro the world’s first Nikkei hand roll bar in Chicago! This Japanese-Peruvian fusion concept, originally from Madrid and Barcelona, truly lives up to the buzz. Every bite was packed with flavor and beautifully crafted. . The nigiri and hand rolls are a must-try. I’d absolutely recommend both! . . #handroll #chicagosushi #chicago #chicagorestaurants #rivernorthchicago

Welcome to the U.S.! With low lights, bold flavors, and sushi that looks too good to eat (almost), @akiro.us is the kind of Chicago spot that turns dinner into an experience. Perfect for date night, girls’ night, or when you just want to treat yourself.
