Food was good but expensive for Mexican
It's a shame because I'm such a fan of the west side location, but the new east side agave is just not up to standard. The service was incredibly slow, like to the point where we didn't get enough booze refills to warrant paying for a boozy brunch. They also forgot our appetizers, and couldn't tell which burrito was vegetarian, and which had all the meats.
Something wasn’t right with the booze! No way everybody was dead after drinking the margaritas. Was Bill Cosby working the bar?
I would definitely return but not too often, Agave is a bit expensive for what you get. Otherwise it was great!
Overpriced and low quality. Agave doesn’t even offer free chips and salsa. We spent over $100 for 2 people on a casual Tuesday night meal.
The worst experience I've had at a restaurant in decades
Second time here. Wanted to eat outside...
Waiter didn't listen when I asked for a skinny margarita. Came back with two margaritas with a ton of sour mix in it. Wouldn't tell me that sour mix was in it, until I started calling out all the ingredients that are supposed to be in a skinny margarita. As a former bartender, I know what sour mix tastes like. He took them back and replaced.
Food took FOREVER to come out. And all we got was a quesadilla. Asked for it with shrimp. They put shrimp in half of it. Said that's what he wrote down... but that wasn't what I ordered. I was constantly trying to look for a server for another drink, extra sour cream.
Their pricing is WAY too high for the experience they are serving up. I really wish this place would get it together.
Awful food. Worst meal I’ve had in many years. Will not be back.
Overall it was decent. Food and service were good. However, restaurant was a little too loud and it was definitely overpriced.
I was able to make an 11am reservation and we got there and were told that the kitchen didn’t open until 11:30. They wouldn’t seat us until 11:45, then the menus were off at the table and the food was missing critical items. Not great service and not the same fun atmosphere as the west village location.
Wait staff seemed overwhelmed
Jesus was amazing!
Service wasn’t as good as the other one near Union.
Has the potential to be a Great spot looking forward to trying when they are out of previews as the full menu is not available.
Not comparable to west side location
Wish I could give this 0 stars. We were told to leave because the food would take too long.
I waited over 2 hours for my food and it never came. People all around me in the restaurant had full meals and left and I never received my food. The restaurant continuously told us the kitchen was backed up even though we saw people being served all around us. We arrived at 745 and finally left at 10 when our food was never served.
It has great outdoor space but it recently opened and the kitchen and servers are very disjointed. My friend and I spoke with 5 or more different servers and waited over 2 hour for our entrees (which were okay). Two tables around us left after they ordered because they couldn’t handle the wait, and we saw one table accept an order that was not their own as they had been waiting 2+ hours. The two positives were the nice outdoor seating and the fact that most of our meal was not charged because of our long wait time.
The food is very mediocre
Very overpriced with very few menu options. Drinks were good but also very small for the price.
I would call ahead of the reservation... I showed up and the kitchen was closed after I made a reservation for a birthday dinner.
best brunch ever! Jésus is the best bartender/server, and was super attentive/accommodating.
will be back soon:)
Might be growing pains since this new location didn’t open very long ago but our waiter seemed very overwhelmed with the brunch rush. We sat down and it took them about 15-20 minutes to even get us water glasses. Then our waiter didn’t seem to know very much about the menu and didn’t even ask if we wanted to do bottomless. The food was pretty lackluster and might have given me a stomach issue the day after (not confirmed though). Drinks were also mediocre compared to the one in West Village, which offers frozen margaritas with different flavors whereas here, only regular margaritas on the rocks.
Seemed like a bunch of other tables had issues with their food as well seeing many of them approach the Manager on Duty and a lot of food being turned back to the kitchen. We also saw 2 - 3 tables leave due to the delayed service in our section.
The only saving grace was our waiter decided to knock off one of the bottomless as an apology to us so saved us a couple of bucks. Hopefully they’ll get better with time but I will most likely be returning to the west village establishment instead of this one from now on.
We were really looking forward to going to Agave ever since they opened their second location. The $40 bottomless is such a great deal, however that's really the only good thing about this place. From the second we sat down the service was terrible. It took 10 minutes for our drinks to come out and the waitress never bothered to refill them even though we got the bottomless. Our table outside was the ONLY table not covered by an umbrella and it was extremely hot so we asked to move inside. There were no tables inside so we sat at the bar. The service at the bar was horrible - we had to ask the bartender multiple times for drinks so the bottomless wasn't even worth it. Two of our meals came out an hour after we ordered and mine didn't come out until 30 minutes after those. The manager did basically nothing to rectify the situation and blamed it on how busy the restaurant was, but it wasn't even that busy. I hope the terrible service is because they just opened, but i would NOT recommend this restaurant going forward.
One of the worst brunch experiences.... after an hour and a half of mimosas our food still had not come. We had asked for an update and nothing then asked for the check for our drinks so we can get on with our day and nothing. It was insane how terrible and untimely the service was. Everyone around us was struggling and complaining as well. Overall, terrible experience.
- 11am reservation and sat at 11:20 (not due to busy tables, but because staff wasn’t ready)
- waitress said the kitchen was closed indefinitely and didn’t know when they’d be ready to serve food
- could offer drinks but could not extend bottomless to match the timing of our food which was delayed on their fault
- offered frozen marg but didn’t actually have frozen marg
- opens at 11am and the kitchen wasn’t open until noon
- their garbage is next to the patio so they have to carry the garbage through the entire restaurant to get it outside
Nothing like the village location. The kitchen didn't have a few things that were on the menu. The margaritas tasted like they were made with a cheap instant mix. The waiters seemed very green (appetizers and main course all brought out at the same time) and there was no one in there at 8pm on a Saturday night! That tells it all. What a bad experience especially for the price (they charge $7 for one piece of corn).
I had a reservation for brunch inside at 1:30. When I got there, the hostess said she didn't have a table for us and didn't know why as she just got there. She offered us a table outside which nobody wanted since it was 95 degrees outside. We had intentionally made our reservation for an indoor table which didn't become available until 2:15PM. Being that the air conditioning was not on either, my friends and I left.
All of the yelp reviews look like many customers have had the same experience - I was hoping those were just one off experiences but sad to see it is true. Will definitely not come back.
they are very understaffed and unorganized which made it hard to enjoy the bottomless brunch.. our food was brought out all at different times, some people waited over an hour
Over-priced and chaotic - half of our entrees didn’t arrive!
They are new and have a few kinks to work out, but our server was great!
With all the negative reviews left I was hesitant to come here, but I was pleasantly surprised. The mushroom truffle quesadilla is magical. My husband got the carne asada tacos. It's a total rip off that rice & beans are $6 extra. $17 for 3 tacos is enough already. Our server was great, they are still working out some kinks but I would return. Just find their prices to be a little too high.
Food was good.
Service was terribly slow and we were ignored 4 times before ordering...
Most of the menu items were not available. Took 20 min to get my margarita on the rocks. Unimpressed. Management needs to get it together. A restaurant should not open if you’re not ready to. Agave downtown location however is great.
Service was horrible. Not once did someone come over. We had to ask to order for the check etc.
Ummm...I am not sure why you open a restaurant and give a menu and then say that most of the menu is not available. Give a menu with the options that are available.
The management has failed to train the staff. The service was slow. The food and drinks when they arrived were actually good. Sitting outside is nice.
Overall the worst dining experience I’ve ever had. Do not
Went during brunch so it was a little loud and service was a little slow. As soon as the brunch crowd ended...it was fine. I’d come back on a regular day/night
Made a reservation for sunday brunch at 2:15pm. Arrived on time with my party of 5. Was told to sit at the bar. Waited 20 mins and the host said there were no tables and if there was a cancellation, we could be seated. But I said, we made a reservation? Didn't get much of an answer. Opted to leave and had a marvelous brunch at Docks Restaurant ($10 per person less with great options). I can appreciate Agave just opened, however, it's clear there's much work to be done regarding communications with guests.
This location has a lot of bugs to figure out. The place was half empty but we were warned up front the kitchen was backed up and it would take 40 min to get a brunch dish. When the dishes did arrive, they were incorrect two different times.
