Il Mulino New York - Downtown
There’s no place like Il Mulino New York. The luxury Italian restaurant’s flagship Greenwich Village outpost initiated New York’s fine Italian dining trend and is still prized in the city’s elite dining scene. Zagat has rated Il Mulino New York as Manhattan’s No. 1 Italian restaurant for decades and has said the restaurant provides "one-of-a-kind" cuisine filled with delicious flavors, creating an "outstanding Italian classic" restaurant where "every dish is a masterpiece."
Il mulino is the kind of restaurant that anthony bourdain used to butcher in his books. Super stuffy and filled with arrogance....yet the food is mediocre at best. I dont always frequent super expensive establishments like this, but occasionally, i want to celebrate a special night. I've dined in some amazing places which cost insane money.....Il Mulino just doesnt rise to the occasion. For the diner who wants exceptional service and excellent, truly authentic italian cuisine in NYC.....visit Angelo's on Mulberry. I should have gone there in the first place, and wont make this mistake a second time
Had a business dinner. The service was excellent -- they know how to interrupt our conversation and being funny and charming without making us feel annoyed. The food was simply great.
Always great food and always great service. Highly recommend
Always fabulous. When you Uber Driver just dropped off a famous Italian you know this place is going to be great.
Our third time in this place. Great food and service.
George and the rest of the staff offered an experience we won’t forget. Amazing food - don’t get me started on the garlic bread. Authentic atmosphere. We will definitely be back.
I will not come to New York City without going here again and again. Staff is unbelievable food is amazing! Over the top!
Superb! Food is fantastic. Service is fantastic! New favorite New York Restaurant!
Anniversary, birthday, etc.
3 families together with our grown children. Very fun & delicious experience. It is our holiday tradition!!
We had an excellent dining experience for my Wife’s birthday celebration.
Excellent meal. Little pricey, but from the appetizers to the main dishes to the service, very good meal!
Absolutely a fantastic meal with impeccable service! We will remember it for years to come!
I was visiting NY and remembered this as a fabulous restaurant that I had dined at 30 years ago. I was shocked at its appearance. We went for lunch, so the white tablecloths and the waiters in tuxes did Not cover the shabbiness of the restaurant....low ceilings with dirty ceiling tile, vinyl floral wallpaper pealing off walls etc. They give you a couple of “free” appetizers (bruschetta and a a chunk of cheese and a basket of bread with oil drenched toast. Then the waiter goes through the 29 specials of the day so fast that I didn’t get half of it. When I asked him to repeat, his attitude was arrogant. I will never go back.
And the food was mediocre
Fantastic and quick service, food was delicious, charge for sparkling water was a bit high but thats only complaint. Would recommend to all!
Holiday with relatives
Everything was as expected. Old, classic, cramped & superb in all categories.
Great food and excellent service! Truly great dining experience.
The food was really delicious! I tried several bites of friends and they were all great. However, the wait staff was borderline rude. It was absolute chaos and we left feeling harried and unvalued as a customer.
Best restaurant I have EVER eaten at! Everything was completely beyond my expectations.
Excellent and service, would recommend this location to friends, family and business associates.
The food is simply amazing so much flavor. There’s nothing more to say!
Absolutely amazing . Truly one of the best restaurants we have ever eaten at. The veal parmigiana was as big as a man hole cover.
I love this restaurant. One of the best in the city! Love their Chicken Parm and pastas too.
Family trip to NYC. Service and food were exceptional. Highly recommend it.
Dinner was amazing - the service was outstanding. Wait staff wonderful with great suggestions as well as creating a special dessert for us. Highly recommend
This is my third time eating at this restaurant and it never disappoints. Still my favorite restaurant of all time. Such a fun experience... and the food is to die for. Service is the best part.
The best Italian food in NYC. We love it.
An unparalleled dining experience. Old World charm and attention to detail. Amazing staff. Wonderful food.
Food was middle of the road at best and the Wine was way overpriced. I've had great Dinner's here many times in the past and sadly it's just not what it used to be. Their past reputation and tourists will keep them busy but I doubt I will be coming back.
The food is a mixed bag at Il Mulino. A few dishes were quite good. Others were good and the rest were ok. For the price, the value is not really there. However, the staff is excellent and makes for a fun and interesting evening. That is worth going for at least once.
My favorite restaurant in New York. Always amazing in every way.
Food and service were outstanding. There were lots of delicious surprises brought to our table as appetizers, so many so that it was hard to eat all of our dinner! Although we like to try new places each time we visit NY, would definitely recommend this to our friends!
Hands down best Italian in NYC. Old school charm. Fantastic food. Great service. Do yourself a favor and let the waiter guide you through the menu. Just say yes. Jorge was the best. The food impeccable.
Always amazing! Service and attention to detail is the best!
Always a very special experience at Il Mulino.
Our reservation was for 8pm for 4 people. Which I made in advance with credit card to hold. However, we did not get seated until 8:45pm. The tables were very close to one another and there was very little wiggle room at the bar while waiting and in general. I could touch elbows with the guests at the next table. That said, the service and food was good/solid. There are many outstanding Italian restaurants in NYC and having lived in NYC for decades, I wouldn't necessarily return to Il Mulino as first choice. Overall, I would give it a solid 3 to 3.5 out of 5.
Il Mulino is one of those neighborhood places that everyone should go to at least once, if not again and again. There was not a bad dish to be had; however, if I had to single out a few, it would be the best rack of lamb I have ever had, the sumptuous veal chop, the delicious baked clams and the amazing meatballs, which you could make a meal of by themselves. The experience was only made better by the wonderful, friendly attentive service. And try to save room for dessert and have the wonderful chocolate cake.
Il Mulino is hands down the best italian dining in the city, the food, the ambience and especially the incredible service is unmatched by any other dining experience we have had in New York. We come here every time we visit and our experience is reinforced every time, Bravo!
