We always ask the server to make recommendations, and normally follow most of them. And those always turn out to be the fun surprises. We loved old favorites - the Crudo, and the Johnny cakes, & we can’t pass up bread service - it’s a treat. The Nilgai Tartare was delicious and nutty, papardelle with short rib was so flavorful and rich. Desserts we loved - Sherbet! Not your average kind. And chocolate chips! Full of surprises. Five stars once again!More infoEmmer & Rye$$$$• Contemporary American• Downtown•4.7

- RRobertGoldAustin •11 reviews5.0Dined 7 days agoWe’ve been going to Foreign & Domestic since we first heard about their popovers sometime in 2012. (Embarrassing for us to admit that we didn’t discover such a local gem until it made national TV.) Most recently we were there last night, somewhat on a whim (Oct 2026), to enjoy a wild mushroom inspired fall menu. In all that time, we’ve yet to experience even an “off-night”. It’s always been such an amazing treat! And I love the mix of reliable favorites with new seasonal surprises. For starters we shared the delightful Lobster *mushroom* bisque, and the wonderfully smokey mushroomy Matsutake. We had the Red-Pepper Risotto with its underlying but exciting spicy tang balanced and cooled by the pretty little dollops of goat cheese, the amazing sliced pork chop cooked *perfectly* with a beautiful crusty shell and tender middle atop that amazing gravy and alongside that delicious cornbread with such a fine crumb. Everything was stupendous, just as it always is. Not sure how y’all have managed to keep up the impeccable quality of food and service for this many years, but my hats off to you all. Here’s to the next 14 years!More infoForeign & Domestic - Austin$$$$• Contemporary American• Central Austin•4.7
