Best South Indian Restaurants in New Providence

An absolute culinary masterpiece! One of the best Indian dining experiences we’ve ever had in NYC! Chatti is not just a restaurant; it’s an experience. From the beautiful blue-shell table setting with the sounds of distant ocean waves, warm welcome towels, signature Pink Salmon Wood Water, and creative cocktails (the smoked Malayali Old Fashioned is a must-try!) to the thoughtfully curated courses, every detail was exceptional. Every single dish was outstanding. The Trivandrum Chicken Fry, Malabar Mutton, Prawn with Coconut, Clay Pot Fish Curry, Gooseberry Masala Halibut and Kerala Porotta were simply phenomenal. Even the Cloud Pudding dessert was unforgettable. The flavours, presentation and authenticity were on another level. What made it even more special was Chef Regi Matthew personally visiting our table multiple times to explain the inspiration and stories behind each dish. Our server Liz was fantastic, making the hospitality just as memorable as the food. Even the little Parrot Tarot experience before leaving was a delightful touch! Having dined at several Michelin-starred Indian restaurants, I genuinely believe Chatti deserves to be in that league. I’m surprised it doesn’t have a Michelin star yet! Exceptional food, beautiful ambience, impeccable hospitality and incredible attention to detail. Five stars without hesitation. One of NYC’s finest Indian restaurants. We will absolutely be back!

I had a great experience at Anjappar Indian Restaurant. The food was flavorful, authentic, and beautifully prepared. The Chettinad dishes were especially impressive, with rich spices and a depth of flavor that stood out from typical Indian restaurant fare. The biryani was aromatic and well-balanced, and the portions were generous. The service was friendly and attentive, and the staff were happy to answer questions and offer recommendations. The atmosphere was welcoming and comfortable, making it a great place for both family dinners and casual meals with friends. If you’re looking for authentic South Indian and Chettinad cuisine, Anjappar is definitely worth a visit. I’ll be coming back to try more dishes from the menu.
