After two decades of going to the Hanover St Chop House it never disappoints. We recently dined there for our anniversary - the drinks, food, service and ambiance are tough to beat.
Our waiter, Dave, was terrific- personable but not intrusive. I knew I was going to like him when he asked if my Ketel One extra dry martini with a twist was the right color… completely clear. I laughed because it was perfect and didn’t have a yellow hue like I have seen countless times from too much vermouth or olive juice. The Chop House knows how to make a good martini. With all the fancy flavored martinis now, too many bartenders and servers don’t know that an extra dry martini does not have extra extra dry vermouth 🙄.
We eat carbs so we are always happy when there is bread ( in this case Parker house rolls and lavash- which were delicious). Our Caesar salad was fresh and big enough to share. If you like steak au poivre, I recommend getting it. They did a great job of getting a good peppercorn crust on the seared filet, and then having the delicious sauce. My husband would recommend the surf and turf of filet with lobster. We had no room for dessert but their selection sounded good. We have had them there before and thoroughly enjoyed them.
I saw another reviewer comment on the restrooms. I agree, they are quite nice. Well, I actually have never been in the men’s room but the ladies room is worth the visit. It’s downstairs which is a very cool area. Someday I hope to have a function in one of the rooms down there.
Looking forward to our next visit.
