It seemed like the kitchen was very slow, but the service was good; all the servers. The crab cakes were delicious, as was the butternut squash soup. The flickering light over the table was distracting: they need to install the proper rheostat.

We enjoyed dinner on the patio with Jose and Ricardo so much! The music was unbelievably amazing and the food was really good too. However, we were disappointed by the service. I had to flag down our server several times to clear our soup and salad plates, order another glass of wine and get the check. This review would be 5 stars if the service was better. We will be back for Jose and Ricardo so am hoping we will have a better experience the next time.

It was another fantastic evening at Cedar Knoll. Flamenco guitar is not to be missed. Thanks to the staff for their attentive and kind hospitality.

We celebrated my son’s proposal with a family dinner at this restaurant. The location is beautiful, overlooking the Potomac River, and I love the old-world elegance and charm of the place. Unfortunately, the experience was not as great as I expected. The food took a long time to arrive, and one person’s meal came out much later than everyone else’s. We all had to wait for my son’s girlfriend’s father to receive his plate, which made the evening a little awkward. The waitress was not very friendly, either. When I asked if I could substitute a side dish, she simply asked what I wanted instead without explaining what other options were available. Since it was my first time there, I would have appreciated a little more assistance and better customer service. The restaurant is beautiful, elegant, and has a lovely atmosphere. I understand that at a high-end restaurant, food can take longer to prepare, but I think offering complimentary bread with butter or olive oil while guests wait would be a nice touch. Overall, I loved the place and would definitely return! Overall, the experience was great. The atmosphere and location are beautiful, but for a restaurant at this price point, I expected much better service and food timing, especially for such a special family celebration. It’s a lovely place, but the service definitely needs improvement.

I was hoping for a lovely 65th wedding anniversary brunch for my in-laws but it was anything but. The arrived at our scheduled time, 12:15, made our orders a few minutes later and didn't get any food on our table until a little after 1. Also, while my food was ok, I got the soup and a salad, my in-laws burgers were inedible. What a disappointment. There was a big event going on and I think that was taking up much of the staff's bandwidth.

Cedar Knoll consistently provides novel and enjoyable food. Usually the service is notable for how well trained and capable the staff is all around. Today I had a party of 7 in for a birthday. Our server was a frustrating disappointment. She didn’t understand how to engage properly and made us wait infuriatingly long times between visits. Even bringing the check was a painfully slow experience. I feel ripped off at being charged an automatic 20% gratuity. We were SO happy when Cedar Knoll changed hands, and since then have always had a great experience. We understand that nobody can bat a thousand, and having worked in the restaurant business extensively myself, I am typically very forgiving as I know what the jobs entail. It just sucks that this was a special occasion and we chose Cedar Knoll because we expected the service in particular to be good but it ended up being terrible. We’re still pulling for this place, but this will make us reconsider a future visit.
