Let's start by saying the Ziran restaurant no longer exists at least it doesn't for any meal except breakfast and that is only for hotel guests. For a lunch or dinner you can sit at tables located in the hotel lobby and the bar staff will wait on you. The menu is limited and undistinguished. Certainly not what we were expecting from a major hotel located in the heart of downtown L. A.
Tried Ziran for the first time with a co-worker. Potsticker appetizer was excellent, but things went downhill from there. Chicken breast in the Pesto panini was over cooked and chewy. Potato Gnocchi was a bit salty and service was painfully slow for a small lunch crowd. I'd go back just for appetizers and drinks because the renovation to the lobby and the restaurant is very modern and swanky.
This restaurant inside a hotel wasn’t actually open so after taking an Uber to dinner in LA on vacation I was forced to scramble to find another place. Open table wouldn’t allow me to cancel or change the reservation so I couldn’t even make a res somewhere that wasACTUALLY OPEN. Beyond frustrated with the hotel and open table for the snafu
Booked. Reservation here and it was closed!
Manager didn’t care that we were able to book via Open Table @ did nothing for us.
Staying at the hotel and went there for dinner. Dining room had a private event so ate at the bar. Service slow but the food was excellent.
Food , service and ambiance were all excellent!
The food was excellent from the appetizer to dessert !
I was organizer of the event and since it was a work event I had to stay within a certain budget. Our table for 14 was ready for us early. My guests were all happy with the level of service and the food, and the quiet atmosphere made conversation possible. I was happy that the bill was within my budget, and reasonable value for money. A service charge was added due to the size of the party, but I thought that was a good idea as the bill was the bill and I could just take it directly to my employer. A good evening and everybody left happy.
We came here for dineLA on our lunch break at work. The sandwiches and salads here were excellent although the wait was a bit longer than we expected. Service was good and I love the ambience/decor. We will definitely be back!
Food and service were excellent. Can’t wait to return.
Service was good. Ambience is very classy. Food was fairly decent. We had our dine LA menu so it was worth discounted price but not exceptionally good to come back for a full priced menu. fried calamari had good flavors.
Horrible. The staff was rude. Even though we had a reservation, we were not seated in the restaurant, which was the whole point of DineLA -- to enjoy a restaurant we had never been to before. The server didn't want to serve us. The manager did not want to show up after we complained. It was a horrible experience. They should NOT participate in Dine LA if they do not want people to experience the restaurant. I will NEVER recommend this restaurant to anyone.
For a hotel restaurant the food was good and service was great. Order was taken promptly and food was served quickly. We did not have to rush in order to get back to work which is often not the case with hotel restaurants.
Great ambiance, although very slow on a Friday night @ 8pm. Waiter gave us the wrong appetizer but quickly fixed it. Food was excellent. Manager walked by to see how everything was going. Highlights were the tempura green beans, pear salad, and caramel chocolate cake.
My omelet was fantastic, the staff was attentive, professional, courteous and friendly. Take the eggs benedict off the menu, everyone at my table who tried it was very disappointed, other than that 5 stars across the board.
The staff is so wonderful we used a Groupon and they were super cool about it, even offered us a discount card to use again. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was adorable. Thank. You guys
The meal was fantastic and the presentation was flawless. Wanted to have a quiet dinner in downtown LA and it happened.
It was super quiet as no one was there...The worst thing is that all food was terrible. Do not try. I have no doubt it is not worth, waste of your time and money.
The staff were wonderful... the food was great, we had a lovely time (for a group of 18, we were happy to find a place where we could relax & enjoy)
Lovely food and atmosphere
The place was empty for Saturday night. Extremely quite.
This was a first-time visit for us and the other couple with us. The food was really, really good, the portions were very generous, and we enjoyed the "share" choices - they were great - probably could have skipped the main dish and just had another "share" item! The service was very attentive but not intrusive. We will definitely make this a "before the theater" spot.
All though polite, did not consider that I stated special occasion. Food was nice but the waiter did not recommend anything even when we asked what do you recommend. He just said sure it’s good.
The food selection is great.. the service is excellent.
restaurant was completely empty so you’d figure the service would be phenomenal. Unfortunately the service was extremely slow and made me not want to come back. If it were to be busy I could imagine how long it would take to get service. Food was really good though.
A new restaurant my friends and I wanted to try for dineLA; the service was great and our food was delicious. We'll definitely return to try other items on the menu.
Good food, terrible parking!
The prix fix menu was extraordinary. The service was excellent. We are definitely going there again.
Some of the worst service I have had in a LONG time. No one came to refill drinks, took ages to order, took longer for food to come out. The restaurant was practically empty.
Terrible service. Sat us at booth that looks directly into setting sun. We told them we had theater Tix, had to ask repeatedly to bring last course and check. Then bill was wrong and took 15 minutes to settle. Food was mediocre while prices were high. AVOID.
Excellent food presentation and nice ambiance.
It was my first time here, with a group of 8. we had reservations and were seated promptly, the service was curteous and at the right speed, not too fast, not too slow, just right. the food was very good, everyone seemed to enjoy thier food very much. I got the corn chowder which was delicios...but the consistency was off, and my steak sandwich was a tad under-seasoned. I like my steak over-seasoned though so this might just be a personal prefrence. overall, we had a great experience.
I had a Living Social coupon that I bought because a friend and I were going to an matinee at the Dorothy Chandler. It was a short walk - 15 minutes - to Ziran from the theater. When we got there - around 5:30 on a Sunday night - the hotel looked deserted. There were 2 people at the bar and two other couples in the restaurant. That said, I'm not holding it against them because maybe the hotel caters to business travelers during the week? It's a beautiful hotel lobby and bar and the restaurant was very pretty as well and quiet. We sat on a very comfy couch in the bar/lounge area and had 2 wonderful specialty cocktails before dinner .
At dinner our waiter was helpful and the service was great. The food was beautifully presented and tasty. I think it's a good choice for a lovely dinner before the theater, or if your travels take you downtown for museum going.
My friend and I enjoyed the lunch very much. The service was excellent and the food is delicious. We especially enjoyed the ambiance and we will definitely go back again.
The occasion was Mother’s Day. Brunch was good, I’m vegan so there were not a lot o choices for me which was a bit disappointing. My family did enjoy the selection that were offered.
Our first experience at Ziran was for the Mother's Day Brunch this year and I was very impressed! The service staff was wonderful, from the beginning and throughout brunch. The food selection was also great, with just a little bit of everything and a fresh waffle station, which was my favorite. I will definitely be returning.
Very poor wine list. Over priced. The place was freezing. Sad experience
