Absolutely spectacular experience. Service food Price amazing
Excellent food and service. Happy to recommend it!
We were specifically in for the Cod. We have not been to Zinc for a long time due to the hassle of parking downtown during the construction of LRT. Well, we were not disappointed. The cod was cooked just right and delightfully garnish and flavored. The scallop appetizers was also cooked very well. In fact everything was cooked and flavored really well. Dishes were light and not laden with heavy butter or sauce. Great options if you are on a Keto diet. Our waitress was friendly. Would definitely go back again.
Zinc has the pleasure to have one of the best chef's in town as their keystone. The food was outstanding and the service was impeccable. We ordered a 6 course tasting with wine pairings. Each course stood on its own, with every bite a discovery of new and complex flavours. Our waitress was fully present with our needs, and everything came out in perfect time. We couldn't have asked for a better fine dining experience!
Great food, Service and ambiance!
I had never been to this restaurant before and have been wanting to go for a while. There is some construction happening out front which was why we waited, I wish now we had gone sooner!!! The service was excellent from the moment we walked in until it was time to leave. It sounds like it’s a new menu, we had appetizers (scallops), entrees (Lobster Risotto and Pork Belly), dessert (banana bread pudding), cocktails and wine. The food was absolutely to die for! The scallops were cooked perfectly as was everything else. I never do reviews but it’s so rare to have a total dining experience that wows you now-a-days. If you haven’t had a chance to go, book a reservation, you will not be disappointed! This will be our new go to place for date night!
The ambiance was nice, the service was a bit slow, the food wasn't as expected. My burger was tasteless, the avocado spread was tasteless, the soup was just weird, and the bread for the soup was like a rock.; even the bacon has been overcooked. The bread for the burger was actually good, the same as the salad. The sandwiches were fair, the salads were fresh and tasty.
The wait staff was incredible and attentive. Food was amazing.
The one dish ordered was really wonderful (the Gnocchi), however the ‘Salmon Burgers’ ordered by three of us (the special) were not a fish fillet as expected, but a plain fish cake patty made from canned salmon as it would appear. The sauce was not very flavourful, the bun was mediocre and the frites were mealy. What’s up with that?? Not at all up to the standard expected and quite disappointing. On the positive side - the coffee was excellent!
Zinc is a beautiful, modern and bright restaurant and offers lunch and weekend brunch as well as supper. My husband and I went for a birthday lunch on a Friday and it was a lovely atmosphere with a good drink menu and food menu. Our meals and appetizers were delicious and a good value. The service was excellent and the staff friendly, prompt and professional. It's a great lunch place and I look forward to having dinner there. If you plan on going to the Art Gallery or the nearby Alberta Museum, lunch at Zinc is a great way to start!
We totally enjoyed Sunday brunch. We had cheese plates and pastries to start. For mains we had lobster eggs Benedict, crab frittata, smoked salmon bagel, and bacon toast and potatoes - my granddaughter doesn’t like eggs. All of these dishes were tasty and very nicely presented. The banana bread French toast for dessert was incredibly good. All 4 of us enjoyed our food and the service was excellent. The prices, considering the quantity and quality of the food we had, were reasonable.
This was our first time to Zinc. 'Very Chic' was our first impression. We loved the color scheme; the sapphire blue water glasses really popped! We liked the large windows (facing City Hall) and being able to watch the hustle and bustle of the world going on outside as we relaxed and enjoyed our meal. Our server was very pleasant and accommodating.
Delicious meal for the group!!! Great wine pairing
We enjoyed the food. We choose a few different appetizers that provided a lot of different flavours. The service was excellent. Our reservation was for 5:30 so the restaurant was empty which was fine with us. I could see with the way the restaurant was set up with a full dinning experience it may be very noisy. The cost of the dinner was fine. We came out of the restaurant feeling full and satisfied. I would recommend this restaurant.
Food was delicious. Service was outstanding as well. A great lunch to go to before to gallery!
We have never been disappointed here. A perfect 48th anniversary supper then a short walk to a great concert at the Winspear.
The meal was delicious but the price was so overpriced. It distracted from the whole meal. My entree was great but it was not $50. I was shocked to learn it was almost $300 for the meal. I thought it would be 30 per person. Won’t be back.
Went for Mother's Day brunch. It was excellent. the charcuterie buffet was amazing with lots of homemade dips and sauces, The A la carte main course was excellent and nicely sized. The banana bread pudding for desert was the best I have ever had.
Disappointing. We expected a fine dining experience. The service was below average—from drink orders to one dinner arriving three minutes later than first three. Ordered steak—most expensive item on the menu—and it was over done. All in all, experience was much below expectations and did not warrant the high fine dining cost.
The staff were very friendly and accommodating. We arrived and our party was already seated and we received assistance immediately. The food was delicious and we opted to do their tapas menu so we had samples of most of their smaller dishes. I’ll definitely be back.
The food was excellent and service was good. Room is large and feels bare. We had a very wobbly table. With all the construction on surrounding streets it's hard to get there.
We very much enjoyed Easter Brunch.
Birthday dinner. The whole dining experience was very good. Two diners decided to try a vegetarian entree which neither really cared for but a vegetarian may have really enjoyed it. Construction outside definitely distracts from the overall ambiance but won’t be there forever I hope.
I work downtown (have for years) and finally decided to stop at the Zinc for lunch with a co-worker after walking past many times. First thing I noticed was the architecture. Granted Zinc is located inside the AGA and obviously had to follow a certain classy and elegant style and it was achieved with the chrome decor and wide windows.
The selection on the lunch menu was not overly large but had just enough variety and was reasonably priced. The "glass of wine for half price" during lunch was really tempting but I sadly had to pass. Food was delicious - it was served quickly, tasted fresh and the peach vinaigrette on the Gallery Salad was lovely.
Service was pleasant and prompt although the male server and possibly supervisor or owner was clearly not dressed to match the establishment (untucked t-shirt underneath a blazer over linen pants that fell short to the ankle paired with loafers minus the socks). He was very friendly but looked out of place with his choice of "careless" attire.
Otherwise, thank you for the wonderful meal and the lovely experience.
Way over priced . Serve was ok but not what you would expect in a restaurant like Zinc. Crab appetizer smelled like the crab was going bad.
Really wonderful evening. Food was terrific - very fresh with good portion sizes and well done. Service was excellent and appropriately attentive. Would go back in a heart beat.
It was an excellent dining experience. Very friendly and knowledgeable service, not rushed, no overly long wait for food or drink. A couple of laughs with our server, but not too much. Decent menu. Food was delicious - we loved the tapas. I will be back.
Had lunch here... very enjoyable! Food was excellent.
I took my friend out for her birthday lunch and had a great time.
The staff even surprised us when we said it was her birthday and they brought out a little dessert and some sharing plates.
Service here is excellent!
Small plates especially good and good wine list. Very friendly service
I'm embarrassed for you. This is one of my favourite restaurants and I was appalled from the moment I arrived for brunch on Sunday, March 17th.
A server greeted me perfunctorily and hastened to announce that they would be closing in at 2 pm. My mood took a nosedive, seeing that my reservation was for 1:30 pm.
A different server took my water order and when she returned, I apologized for being snarly and described what I had encountered at the door. She apologized and explained the kitchen closed at 2 but that I was of course welcome to enjoy my meal at my leisure. I was appeased for the moment until...
The other person from earlier arrived with my coffee on a dirty saucer (who knows what state the cup was in) and I kid you not, used her tacky cocktail waitress fingernails to scrape away the crud on the saucer. I actually had to ask her to please replace it with a clean one.
I can barely remember the food, which illustrates how much the service tainted my experience.
Clean it up, Zinc. The dishes aren't the only thing that need a wash, apparently.
Despite this, I'm bringing 5 other people for dinner tomorrow. This wasn't my first choice. Don't make me regret it.
Very good & trying the downtown dining week menu was a plus as well!
So I went with my parents and we all had fairly different experiences my mother had the downtown dining week special and everything was lukewarm to cold and the meat was tough.
My father had the steak medium well again very tough and almost grey and the rest was lacking but he enjoyed the beets. I had the smoked chicken it was delicious creamy with mushrooms and I would recommend it. We also tried the Demi baguette and crab artichoke hearts the were quite good but the artichoke could have had more crab pieces because it was almost all artichoke. The deserts were delicious though. Ambiance is lacklustre with bad elevator music or the chipmunks singing other stuff is out of their control like the construction out the window. Still beautiful place for a foodie to try to get a pick of with its modern inside and wood wall. For drinks I’d suggest the royal mimosa if you’re not a strong drinker (was my favourite out of what we tried)
It was available for dining week but they didn't open on time. They only had 1 server and they restaurant manager didn't show later to help out. They all tried to sort out and everything works out at the end. The plate presentation was nice but the food quality is not what I expected but it was really fun to meet with friend. The table setting and location is perfect.
The food was terrible. Tased like 2 day old meat that sat under a heater and the vegetables tasted previously frozen. The soup tasted like it came straight from a can. And desert was literally cream in a cup with a few bits of fruit dropped. It was liquid cream!!!
The wait staff literally ate dinner in the restaurant while we were having our dinner!!! So we couldn’t even get salt and pepper for our gross main meal.
Would never eat there again. Which is too bad because it’s a beautiful space.
Food and service were excellent! Ambiance allowed for dialogue.
The food was fabulous. Love the place. Pro tip is if you have a show to attend or a place to be let them know at the start. They will not rush you.
When I first looked at the menu online the prices were different as we did not go on Valentine’s Day we want on the Saturday the new year ride to see the menu prices went up and the salmon was not good at all quite plain and the chicken was also the two appetizers that we got also were just Soul soul and the prices were out rages The service was good and thanks to the good wine for a business meeting it is out of anyone’s range I would not recommend this zinc restaurant to anyone else😱😡😤
I visited this restaurant about 4 years ago and it was excellent. However it has deteriorated to the point that it needs a complete makeover. The place is filthy dirty. The host was inappropriately dressed for the type of establishment. Tacky. Our server was excellent. The wine selection is good and wine prices were good. The food was ok but not more worthy. Not worth the price either. There are many much better choices downtown
Food was very bland not much flavour and over cooked. Was not filing for the amount paid. Service was great though
