The overall experience was good (but not great), same as the food. We've had to wait 20 minutes for the table with reservation and this was a bit annoying. The concept is nice but I believe they can do better!
Stylish, elegant oriental cuisine and altered the signature menu for a dairy allergy without any hassle (we did warn in advance to be fair!), but good fun and buzzing atmosphere.
As always, the food is outstanding and the venison puffs remain the most delicious thing I have ever eaten in my life! Ambience, buzz all perfection. Anna who runs the bookings is an angel in disguise and always manages to find a solution to your needs! I just wish the whole 2 hour limit per table wasn't a 'thing' that you are reminded of during dinner, but at the end of the day they are always full so my campaign for this not to be an issue you are reminded of, will always fall on deaf ears! BEST FOOD IN LONDON
Still my favourite restaurant, absolutely amazing food. Wine is more expensive than I’d want to pay. Service was and always is great. One big negative but EASILY changeable was the volume of the music. Way too loud, would’ve been ok for a Chilled bar but too loud for people having a meal out wanting to chat.
The dim sum was great and the wine selection was impressive!
Exquisite dim sum and pastries in a elegant modern setting. Staff is professional and attentive. A bit pricey but this is top food in central Soho. Would recommend for a special occasion!
Whilst the staff were friendly, there was a real lack of skill and poor understanding of hospitality.
After being shown to our seats, I had to go and find the staff to ask if they could put my coat in the cloak room as this was not offered.
Further to this we were left for 15mins before receiving even a drinks menu.
It felt as though we were forgotten despite the fact that we went for a late lunch sitting and the restaurant was fairly empty.
Positives: the tasting menu was enjoyable - especially the din sum - and the popcorn old fashioned was fantastic!
This said, when paying around £300 for lunch you would expect a better level of service.
Evening for two friends. The food was stunning, the service brilliant and cocktails superb.
Food is good, service is not so good. Frequently had to ask for order to be taken. After main course , no desert menus given had to ask for these which caused delay, then told next guests had arrived, but we had not been served our desert or tea.
Good food but this is all it has going for it.
It's pretentious, uncomfortable - chairs with one arm - why ? Pointlessly loud music and service that frankly can't give a stuff. Plus it's pricey. Couldn't wait to get out.
Fab food, fab service. A London favourite. Highly recommended.
Good not great. Way overpriced
Food was delicious. You sit at lower than usual tables and chairs which I’m sure is fine for most people but a little trickier if you are tall!
Food good. Service awful. Moody, up itself. Also needs a re-furb.
Such wonderful attentive and respectful service. Fantastic food. The best Chinese in London. A must go to if you love food, great service and friendly and sophisticated atmosphere.
I came for the unique duck salad. But this time the portion was very small. Not too much in the plate. But like always, the salad was very good.
This quite pricey for dumplings, but the food is delicious.
Fast service, had to send back the chilli squid which was not very chilli and didn’t taste fresh....rest of meal was good.
Delicious Food, Yauatcha has served delicious consistently for 15 years. Just lovely. One of my favourite placed for delicious Chinese food.
As you can see I am a regular customer and one of the first ambassadors of Yauatcha. This time everything was very disappointing. Lately, I have noticed a downgrade in both food quality and service. Also the previous time I felt let down, but I thought it was the rare bad night. Unfortunately, it got worst this time. I hope they do something to put it right very quickly. Such a shame because it has been always my favorite restaurant in London

I wasn’t aware that they would take 50£ per person prepayment for a set valentine menu charge. Set menu was an option and we didn’t request for it at booking or any other time. We didn’t eat the full amount and they let us take away pastries using the balance amount of about 50£. I thought it was rude to charge us the set menu pricing upon booking.
Dim sum are fantastic- main course less good. If I only had the dim sum it would be a 5 for the food
We ordered the set menu
An hour later we received our first course because our server had forgotten to put through our order to start with!
We were then very rushed to get through the set menu in time for our theatre booking!
For this privilege we were charged £23 just for service even though we basically didn’t receive any!!!
Food is great but the continuous bombardment of ominous electronic ambient music, feels a little awkward when you’re just trying to wash down a dumpling with some cocktails, no need for the sci-fi addition. Cocktails were OK, if you go off menu then its pretty standard, almost low quality. Was pretty hard to find a table for a Saturday afternoon yet somehow the place was literally empty throughout the entire time we were there. Otherwise its a good dumpling experience.
The music is too loud, we had to speak loudly in order to be heard. Because everyone had to speak loudly, the restaurant was too noisy. I would not go again.
I don’t normally leave reviews but this place actually shocked me. After hearing the recommendation on the Off Menu podcast, I thought I’d splash out and treat my boyfriend for Valentines. We don’t have a lot of money but don’t mind paying a bit more for good food however, this dining experience was up there with one of the worst I’ve ever had, the quality of the food can only be likened to the heat up ready meals from M&S - but ten times the price! The ambience was terrible, complete mismatch between the three different areas and to be honest I feel nothing but regret at the fact I didn’t do more research into this place - would not recommend it to anyone and assume we must have been paying for the location?!
I got a call at 11.30am 3 days before saying I would need to confirm the table by 12pm if I wanted to keep the booking. They kept the booking for me anyway but 30 minutes is sadly not really enough for someone to get back to them, especially on a working day. If someone had wanted to book it, was would I still have been given the table?
50£ deposit per person is quite extortionate. I didn’t see the fine lines but, it’s a lot and other places at the same level, do not charge so much.
We had to wait 30/40 minutes for a table, even after having a reservation, and then were squished next to 2 other tables. I’d been to Yauatcha a few years back and had a much better experience. It was too tight for comfort for guests and even servers. Also just because of the number of people in the room - very loud.
The dim sum was excellent and we really enjoyed it. The mains (meat/vegetables) were OK.
Dear Anonymous, Thank you for your review regarding your recent experience. Please note the £50 deposit policy was obligatory only for Valentines Day due to high demand. Your feedback regarding reservation process has been passed to our Reservation Manager and I can unsure you, this will not occur again. Please accept our sincere apologies regarding long wait for your table, please note this is not our standard and hope this will not deter you from visiting us again. Regards, Yauatcha Soho
Service was awful. When I called to confirm the booking, the man who picked up could not speak proper english hence I had a hard time understanding. We ordered Sake and we asked for it to be hot... it came ice cold. Very unexperienced waiters and waitresses.
Dear Guest, Thank you for your email regarding your recent dining experience at Yauatcha Soho. Please accept our apologies for a misunderstanding with Sake. We do encourage our guests to raise any issues on the evening to give us the opportunity to rectify the problem and make sure our guests have the best experience with us before leaving the restaurant. I hope that this will not deter you from visiting us in the future. Kindest regards, Yauatcha Soho
Tried the Valentines Set Menu. Whilst the evening and setting was nice, the food did not feel up to scratch for the amount it cost.
Phenomenal visual space
Elegant and tasty food
Fourth visit, nice ambience and lighting. We mostly have the dim sum which is very good, fresh and great flavours and textures. The venison buns are amazing, very hard to decide what we liked best. All in all, our best dinner in a week's visit to London, ideal for business dinner or family treat. Back in London next year for another visit, thanks and keep making amazing food please.
Good food, lazy service, which is unusual. Felt rushed. Not my best experience there
Very nice informal style with excellent food and friendly service.
The service was very slow. The food was mostly good some dishes better than others e.g the venison and the beef puffs were delicious. Unfortunately our rice arrived after we had finished all our other orders, by which time it was really too late and we returned it .
We did find it very expensive for what we got and the service on a quiet Monday lunchtime was just not good enough .
5 years ago used to be a great place...
now is getting a bit tired....
still nice food and atmosphere but stuff a bit tired
although it seems a bit expensive for what its offering
The most delicious food! Love everything about it! Treat for the palate, consistent and wonderful
Only complaint is chairs not v comfortable - too low
But the food is so good it is just a small thing!
Love this place! Food is consistently so good. Great for lunch or dinners
Tavolo pronto in orario. Servizio perfetto👌🏻. Ottima qualità . Abbiamo mangiato al piano di sotto molto piu suggestiva e poi terminato la serata con un altro cocktail al bar. Fancy and suggested.
The service was very slow, but the waiter that bought us after dinner cocktails was fantastic. The dim sum was good but the main courses we had were quite bland which was a shame
