Very good restaurant and we enjoyed a lot(, but a little expensive as I expected(USD 150, each)).
If you enjoy delicious sea food and meat, this restaurant would be one of the bests.
I have always had great experiences here. Unfortunately this time was the complete opposite! Extremely slow service, dry and Luke warm food. Not very tasty either. Extremely disappointed given it wasn’t even busy!
Monique was an excellent server.
Great service! Our server took great care of us! Second night of Dine LA and traffic was difficult with Paul McCarteny Concert. Ran out of Swordfish and Halibut early that day. Our server checked on us often and we enjoyed the experience. Would definitely recommend Water Grill Los Angeles
Arrived at a slower dining period, about 4:45 (we has reav). We were seated in a large booth to our surprise which was nice but unfortunately the best part of our visit. Order $15 dollar drinks, took 20 minutes to get them. Dimly lit room, so I used my camera phone light to see menu. As I demonstrated this to our snooty waiter, she said "wow, now I can't see, thanks for that." We ordered the LA Diner Week three course. My wife's meal was good. She had the salad and Filet Mignon. Filet was undercooked, but she ordered medium knowing it would never get there so med rare was fine. I ordered Chowder and Halibut. Chowder was Cream and Vegetables, with four tasty clams otherwise no flavor. Halibut was as dry as the table we were eating on, clearly overcooked. Manager was gracious and paid for my meal, and even offered another entre. We were running late due to sllllooowww service so we just paid and left.
Outstanding food; excellent and friendly service! Seafood is fresh and beautifully prepared.
Excellent food. Go for the whole fish. Fresh and finely cooked, delicious. Service was ok. The place is nice. Like it!
They were in the midst of Alaskan Halibut season.
Their halibut dish is among the best I’ve had
(A bit pricey but worth it)
THIS IS OUR 9TH VISIT. WE WERE CELEBRATING A WEDDING ANNIVERSARY. WE WERE RUNNING LATE FOR A SHOW AND DID NOT HAVE TIME FOR AN AFTER DINNER OFFER.
THEY VERY NICELY CREDITED OUR BILL FOR THAT AMOUNT.
TOGETHER WITH GREAT FOOD THAT IS THE KIND OF SERVICE THAT KEEPS US RETURNING.
S & S.
On a recent dinner visit I had Manila clams as an appetizer and sea bass for the entree. The clams were excellent, well prepared in a savory sauce. However, the sea bass came in three pieces, not unlike nuggets. I have never seen fish presented like this before and wonder if this was what was intended or if it fell apart in the pan. The larger of the three was undercooked and the two smaller pieces were overcooked. There is not a lot of room for error on sea bass and whoever prepared this missed the mark. Prices for everything are on the high side and I do not feel the entree was worth the money it cost. Service was excellent.
The Water Grille is a definite hit every time! The service is excellent from the moment you step up to the reservation desk to the staff sharing tidbits of info on your items ordered upon bring them to you or simply passing by!
I started the evening with the mixed greens salad which included watermelon radishes and other delights, followed by the Chilean Sea Bass with a butternut squash smearing underneath and gnocchi which was superb! The bass was cooked to perfection with a surprisingly crispy, perfectly seasoned searing on top but light, moist and melt in your mouth perfect on the inside! This combined with the smearing was a true tastebud delight! Finally I finished the evening with the Caramel bread pudding, sooo yummy!
I LOVE this restaurant, it’s staff and of course the delicious cuisine!
We could enjoy to eat fresh shells, crab, shrimp, lobster .
If you can't make it to the much more scenic Ocean Ave. Water Grill, hit downtown option makes due! The seafood remains fresh and their oyster menu is consistently the most diverse around. 12 oysters, two 30 dollar entrees, 1 cocktail + 2 beers was about 140 pre tip. So pretty decent! If you must lose your shirt to impress a date take them to the Michelin starred, Providence!
Ambiente carino, servizio impeccabile e cordiale. Piatti veramente buoni, per esempio il fritto di pesce e verdure da provare. Prezzi nella media con quelli californiani. Da provare!!
Some dishes were outstanding while some merely good hence the 4 stars. Halibut and White Sea Bass were excellent. The staff was very welcoming, informative and efficient and no pretense. Had been looking forward to going here and looking forward to returning to try new dishes.
I love this iconic restaurant, but was disappointed in the level of service. Our lunch took so long the person celebrating their birthday had to leave before getting his dessert! And it was hard to track our server down. With that said, I would return in the hopes that they will get back to the level of service you would expect from a historic restaurant.
Seated by the kitchen and the noise was super high.
Most dishes were overpriced and servings were rather small.
Food and service is just so fantastic. If I could eat there every single day I would! :) The scallops and the crab cakes were just to die for, not to mention their amazing wine list!
Best fish and chips ever.
Went here for my wife's birthday. Not crowded on a Sunday. Felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. Scallops were to die for.
We were visiting our Daughter to see the show she is in!
The food was really good. The place was not packed but the service was slow. Took a while for our drinks to come out. It is pricey but overall the oysters were amazing and the Seabass was really good too
My wife and I haven’t been here for a long period and we enjoyed the food, service and atmosphere. Sometimes you forget your old favorites while trying all the new restaurants in downtown LA. We won’t let so much time pass until we return. This location is much nicer than the one in Santa Monica
Service was great and I love that Water Grill is one of the last really nice quiet places to eat.
If you want to go to a first class restaurant, eat amazingly prepared seafood with excellent service, the Water Grill is your first choice.
Food was excellent, and staff was very accommodating of my wife's special order. Very pleasant post-theatre dinner.
We stopped here for a pre-theatre dinner but it was our anniversary week so we celebrated a little early here. Service was very good to us and the food is always great. Manager even gave us a little anniversary dessert. Had a great time.
Always great food and great service, topped with an excellent selection of wine and cocktails
I've been to Water Grill in DTLA twice in the last two months. Once for dinner and once for lunch. Both times the service was mediocre at best. We had drinks at dinner but they were very slow in offering a second cocktail or replacing a cocktail. Both times we waited a long time before a waiter took our order. At lunch I had the Halibut which was only OK, certainly not worth $39.00. Both times it was not a memorable experience.
They do a really good job at the Water Grill to be fair.
If you're lucky enough to get Phillip as your server, you're guaranteed a great experience.
Great food - very fresh, well balanced. Outstanding wine list!
From the time I walked in and met Michael, until my exit, EVERYTHING WAS EXCELLENT AND WELCOMING
Great food, great atmosphere, great location! Service was amazing, loved Amy!
we had a 8 lbs king crab for our table and it was amazing. Also Austin made our experience even better. we made another reservation. cant wait to go back.
Brandan was amazing
This is second time we are having same server , her name is Jenna she’s very rude
