An absolute experience, you must try the risotto .... And service was impeccable
Have always enjoyed their pheasant-filled pasta and this most-recent visit failed to disappoint.
Took the lady out for a couples getaway and found this restaurant on Google. Considering I couldn't pronounce a damn thing on the menu, it had to be fancy-right? Food was not portioned to my liking but it was absolutely delicious, we had a waiter that never let our water glasses get half full and the waitress we also had was very formal with her menu knowledge. If you're looking for first-class experience, vivere is a place to go for sure. Just make sure you're prepared to pay! Oh yeah, always leave a good tip too.
Food and drinks were amazing. Highly recommended!
Great overall experience! Great Food and Service. Would recoonend to all!
Delicious dinner. Gluten Free pasta available which is a plus for me. Chocolate Panna Cotta dessert was fabulous!
Vivere is conveniently located near the theater district. The food is elevated Italian, so be prepared to pay more. The dessert wasn't that good. Service was solid, but not exceptional. I would recommend simply based on convenience of the location.
Cozy bar with a knowledgeable bartender! Great place to have a drink with friends. Food and service were excellent. The wine steward was terrific. He helped us pick out a wonderful Amarone! We had a terrific time and will come back soon!
Vivere is part of The Italian Village which is a Chicago institution. We hadn’t been in ages and it was really good. I ordered dinner based on the wine steward’s wine recommendation and it was a great pick. We most often downtown before the CSO and will definitely return
Outstanding food and service. Too much to comment on each dish, simply delicious and must try.
Great restaurant and great experience!! The food was amazing. A nice cozy environment and the staff was great. I was surprised at how cheap the bill was for the quality of food.
Me and my family had a wonderful experience. The staff was extremely courteous and kind. The meal and wine was absolutely delicious and authentic. Highly recommend it!!
Everything was perfect
This is restaurant week in Chicago
We had tried Spiaggia Cafe..for lunch just so-so...we were disappointed
Vivere was sooo much better: duck ravioli with a very delicious sauce, excellent squash soup..dessert..a cake with chocolate..not the strongest part of the menu
Recommend Vivere..which, I did not know, is part of the Italian Village
Great food and fairly priced! Took my family to dinner and there were plenty of clean plates at the end of the meal.
Very beautiful environment, extremely polite staff, food was great
Food was meh.
Excellent food. Great service. Fairly quiet atmosphere.
Phenomenal Italian food with a modern twist!
Great environment for dates or business meals.
Not impressed with service.
We were not impressed with the quality and taste of our food. My husband had the Boglionese which traditionally is served with a wider pasta- tagliatelli. This was made with a linguini which did not hold up to the sauce at all- got very mushy. I ordered what was supposed to be a pillowy pasta with sage-parmesan light sauce. Instead it was so chewy and doughy- almost like gnocchi. It was very heavy, unlike the description. The ambiance and service, however, was nice, probably will not go again.
Excellent service, realistic meal suggestions, no rush, was able to enjoy a leisurely meal in a wonderful setting. Will definitely repeat!
Fixe Prix menu was good option- included salad choices, 3 entree choices, and dessert. Good kids menu options. Fairly small and tight in the restaurant. Great location for theater goers. Good grown up restaurant with enough choices and loudness to accommodate children.
Nice ambiance on cold winter night, cozy, warm and quiet so could talk and hear without being loud and enjoying a good dinner
We usually go to the upstairs restaurant but decided to give Vivere a shot. Glad we did
Ordered off the prix fixe theater menu. Server Heather was very attentive and made excellent recommendations. The veal meatball and kale soup was extraordinary. The sazerac was inventive and unique. The halibut was firm but flaky. Amazing gelato.
This restaurant has styling like I have never seen before and it was very nice. All of the food was really good. The Gnocchi appetizer was incredible. When your waiter says that a dish is a bit spicy, take note: the tagliorini was a bit too spicy for us to fully enjoy. Great deserts.
Everything was very nice, but the portions were small. The menu decriptions gave the impression there would be side dishes but there really weren’t. We were disappointed with that. We ended up ordering dessert and asking for more bread after the meal
Great atmosphere, so cozy. The menu options are great and the food superb.
quite honWe went to Vivere to meet a friend after the ballet. Service was slow and poor. Waiter seemed forgetful. After waiting quite some time for our meal we were told they forgot to put in our order. Two of us ordered the seafood pasta for $29. We got a nice plate of pasta but only 1 scallop, 2 squid rings and 2 shrimp....maybe worth a total of $1.50 of seafood. Far below our expectations of a seafood pasta based on the description on the menu. Our friend ordered an expensive glass of wine which was fine but the subsequent 2 orders of the same wine was overcharged by 20%. We were celebrating a birthday and they brought out a dessert with a candle for us to share. We thought it was complimentary but upon looking at the receipt the next day discovered we were charged a hefty price for something we didn't ask for and quite honestly didn't need. While the visit with our friend was wonderful this dining experience was not. We do not intend to revisit. The only good thing was the Happy Hour Prosecco with the offer of free pizza.
Vivere was bustling and high volume. It had an old timey vibe, which was not what I expected from the photos online. I had hoped for a more updated restaurant.
The food was traditional and not particularly interesting. We still had a pleasant evening. It caters to the early eating crowd.... our reservation was for 6:30 which is early for us and the volume went down after 7:30! We were the last diners to leave .... talking a lot.
Attended before a concert and enjoyed the pre fixe. A nice green salad started the meal. Entree was a well sauced halibut with greens. Dessert was a generoua serving of lemon sorbet. We enjoyed. Ice bottle of Italian wine and ended dinner with coffee. A very nice experience
Excellent price fixe menu and awesome wine list. Service was great, and the food was most enjoyable. Definitely will return when I'm in Chicago again.
The food was great! The tables are so close together though it is uncomfortable and we felt somewhat wedged in. Service was average. No offer to wrap up meals or refill beverages.
Excellent food, very accommodating staff and attentive service. They seated us at a quiet table, and even when the restaurant filled up it we had no problems having a conversation while speaking at normal levels. All in an excellent experience, I would return any time.

Decided to try this place. The food was excellent. The wine was excellent. Overall very impressed with the place. I would definitely go back.
As always, Italian. Village didn’t disappoint. At at Vivere for the 1st time as normally are upstairs. Everything was phenomenal!!!!
We ate at Vivere last year and had a superlative experience, predominately due to the excellent server we had. This year, the food was very good but the server we had not as friendly and charming as our server last year. He served our food and was attentive to our needs but lacked the friendliness and welcoming charm that our previous server had.
With friends in Chicago for the weekend to see Hamilton. Attended after the show and had a wonderful dining experience. Dane was our server. With 30 years of experience at the restaurant, he was fabulous!!!
