Virgil's Real BBQ - New York City
We visited here twice, Once for dinner and then once for lunch.
Food is amazing but beware portions sizes are huge lol!!!
Our waiter in the evening wasn’t over friendly but our waiter for lunch for lovely.
Would definitely recommend and visit again
The server Nancy was so great
The service was good and the food outstanding. I have eaten here several times over the years and the food has consistently been excellent. The portions are ginormous 😆😆
Came here 15 years ago and had to revisit the place. Great food and, service and value
First night in New York, the food was exceptional and our server was attentive a fantastic start to our trip
Everything was an amazing
Food was good in flavor but not in temperature. Sat upstairs and it was way hot. Service was good. Server at the bar was very nice.
Ribs was not really good.
Very expensive for the pour quality of food.
Food was good but cold. Service was poor as usual. Still one of the better options in the areas.
Fun time with family great service very good food at a good price the sides that came with the meals were great would definitely return
I love the food here. It is a bit noisy especially during dinner time but the meal was served quickly, the waitress was attentive without being overbearing, and I just really love the food. We always get the Carolina pulled pork and the cornbread is great, too.
Pleasantly greeted upon entering, friendly and knowledgeable server, fun vibe, great food.... as always. It’s our favorite BBQ place in midtown. Service is fast, but not at all rushed, making it perfect for before or after a show, or while running around the city.
The pulled pork was notably good, but the ribs were too fatty and had all of the rib focused in one spot, leaving the rest flavorless. Service was slow, until it came time to pay. Then they were suddenly on top of things.
Overall, the food was decent on average, and the portions were decent for the price. But the service would constantly gossip to each-other while looking at us. It was an unwelcoming atmosphere. I’d have trouble recommending it to anyone else, unless they were really craving bbq and couldn’t make it to other places.
Excellent quick service.
Staff very friendly and food superb!
Would definitely return.
When in NYC I always stop in for the brisket, grits and greens. Consistently good food and service though it can get quite noisy, particularly on the main floor.
First time there and had been looking forward to it for months, was happy it was a sister restaurant to Carmine’s. The food was horrible! Brisket bbq sandwich was extremely dry and meat seemed to have been sitting for a while under a heat lamp or something. The kids chicken was bland, Mac and cheese very dry and bland and the chopped veggie salad tasted like cardboard. Our waiter was non existent and approached tables as if he was not happy he was working that day. Had to request check 3x. The manager did come over and gave us a 30% discount but it was off how he didn’t seem surprised that everything was not up to par. Not to mention the bathroom did not have any toilet paper and appeared to not have been cleaned at all. Will never go back :(
Delicious food and cocktail and friendly waiter. You should definitely try the train wreck fries
This our third visit there, and once again not disappointed at all. We have a table we ask for for each time, and always get it. The food is plentiful and outstanding. The staff is attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. If you are in NY at Times Square, check Virgil's out for a fantastic meal.
Our reservation was for 630. Got seated at 650. We were a group of 10. No big deal. Our severer was so nice and attentive. Great food. Good vibes. A nice place in a touristy area, but not a tourist trap. Would go back again.
Overcrowded. Had to wait outside (nowhere to stand inside) for the hour wait for a table. The food was not good. Only edible dish we had was the appetizer, which was the pulled pork nachos. The ribs were flavorless, the hush puppies were dry and the salmon was smothered in bbq sauce after it was put on the plate. It wasn't glazed as described. The mac n cheese and pecan rice were disgusting. Other than the appetizer the only good thing about this place were the drinks. My margarita was good and my friend liked her pina colada.
We had 9 in our party and the staff took good care with a friendly smile
Very busy night, right waiting area at the bar, but Got our table for 7 right on time for our Open Table reservation. Great, friendly service thanks to Matt, huge delicious portions well prepared. Been here several times and quality and service is always great.
Fantastic as always
Went just for dinner very fast seating and service was good at first drinks came within 5 minutes food came out 15 minutes after order was placed (they were out of many meals) food came to the table and was just about warm to a point where we did not finish our meals because they were ice cold (probably heated in the microwave for 30 seconds. Very very unhappy with all aspects of the restaurant. Our waiter did not even tell us his name and only came to the table about 3 times through the two ours. Probably will not be visiting again
I was really let down by the food and service. Asked two members of staff for a little break between our starters and mains. The mains came out straight after our starters. I explained that we didn’t want them yet and that we had advised 2 members of staff. It was then put under a heat lamp and was luke warm when we got it. Over rated and over priced.
The food was cold and subpar. The flavors were lacking. I had been there 6 years ago and remember
Super nice bbq food and great staff, friendly, efficient.. I would highly recommend the place..
Amazing platters, sides, and drinks. Food to die for.
The best as always! Good food at a fantastic place! It’s been 15 years that we come here to eat, every time we are in NYC!
The quality of the meat was superb. Please keep it this way.
Service on this visit was excellent; food not so superlative but still a fun experience.
Not as good as previous visits, train wreck fries disappointing as a lot less ranch and toppings compared to before, overall still good but slightly disappointed compared to previous visits
Great food. It is what it says in the tin
De bediening en het eten was top! Het was alleen erg luid in het restaurant maar daar let je niet zo snel op.
Our favorite restaurant in NYC.
Me lo recomendaron. Muy bueno. Cantidades correctas y comida sabrosa. Repetiría
Service wasn’t good. Took over 40 mins to get an appetizer. They did comp it. But service was extremely slow from ordering to receiving food. Took us over 20 mins to get a drink. We were told they were out of fries but then they brought them with food and not what we ordered. Don’t think we will go back.
I was at Virgil's a few years ago and remembered it much better than my most recent visit. The waitress was laissez faire and did the bare minimum. She didn't even offer to refill drinks or for us to order dessert. We had a reservation but still had to wait a half hour for a table. The food was mediocre at best. I don't think I would return.
It was far to busy. We booked but then had to wait 20 mins for our table. We ended up taking the food out as we couldn’t even have a conversation.
The food was decent although they had no fries or mac and cheese, the 2 main sides my kids wanted
