Not a huge menu, but the food is outstanding. Very large portions, so come hungry. The service was excellent.
My husband and I met a married couple, long time friends of ours, at Viaggio restaurant at 8 PM on a Saturday night to catch up and were seated and served water and bread promptly. Our server, a young woman, was extremely pleasant, but did not write down our orders and needed to return to refresh her memory. The manager/host came over a bit later to confirm our male friend's order. When the food did arrive, one order (our female friend's) was wrong, but she did not complain as it was tasty enough. In general the food is quite good.
We were completely unable to carry on a conversation there. We literally shouted at each other, whether we were seated across the table and next to each other. Everyone else in the restaurant was shouting too, so the noise level is really remarkable. We ended up standing on the sidewalk outside to talk. You'd be better off eating outdoors or at a time when the restaurant is not completely filled.
Holiday weekend. A waiter did not show up. That being said, no one came to our table to inform us of the situation. I had to find the hostess and manager. The staff could not have been nicer. It was an unfortunate situation for the restaurant.
The food was extremely bland. I had the chicken parm and my boy friend had the shrimp scampi, we were not impressed. His favorite part of the meal was the side of asparagus and mine was the cocktail sauce that came with the calamari. Definitely not what I expected. Also, the waitress wasn’t that great. I have been to a ton of restaurants down town and at every single one of them the waiters always ask if we’re celebrating something special, if we’ve dined there before, etc, but with this one there was nothing special about the service at all.
Have been going to Viaggio’s for many years and it never disappoints! Fabulous food, incredible service and a terrific environment! I make sure to bring guests I want to impress with a great experience!!!
The sea bass and lobster ravioli specials were truly outstanding. Way good!!!!
One of my favorite restaurants!
The best lasagna I've ever tasted and I've tasted it in many restaurants around the world. Very light, robust and delicate balance. Server was energetic and customer focused. The meals came promptly and were very well presented. I highly recommend this place.
Had a party of 8 on a Friday night ... our table was right on time, great service, great food, great time. Will definitely return.
What a great restaurant with wonderful food! Staff is very friendly. Our server was a little slow but maybe she was new. My only negative comment is in regards to the noise level. Since it is a small venue it was a bit loud in there once the place filled up with patrons.
Great service and food. Had an early dinner before the Hugh Jackman concert at the United Center. Great start to an awesome evening. Thank you.
Food is always fantastic and staff is impeccable. Can’t go wrong with dinner at Viaggio’s
Good food and service. Pricey especially the cost of wine. Noisy so not for a quiet romantic dinner. Probably a good place for an early dinner before a Bulls or Hawks game at the UC.
Wonderful as always. We had the two daily specials. Beef short rib filled ravioli and shrimp risotto. Would love to have each agin!
Michelle was our server and she was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. All was perfect. Fast becoming a go to spot for us.
This place is so darn good! I deviated from my norm of the branzio and tried the brick chicken and it was the best I've ever had! My husbands pasta was fantastic!
We hosted a graduation party here for 14 people and it was perfect! They took great care of us, all of the food was delicious and the staff did everything they could to make it a great night for the two graduates. We started with fried calamari and bruschetta to share. The calamari was perfectly crispy and tender. I had the sea bass (amazing) over spinach and ate every delicious bite. There were many other dishes at the table and everyone was very happy with their meals.
The food was fantastic and the people are even better. They really made us feel like home and heighten the experience. It's a tight-knit group that delivers excellence in all aspects of the restaurant business. I'll absolutely be going back on a regular-basis and highly recommend this restaurant.
Food was tasty, nothing super innovative, but classic Italian dishes. The ambiance was nice. I like the reenergized neighbor where Viaggio is located. The night I was there the windows were closed because it was chilly out. The noise level was fine when we first arrived but as the restaurant began to get crowded the sound level was unbelievably loud. So loud our ears were ringing and we couldn't have a conversation. I would suggest some sound absorbing material on the walls or ceiling. Service was marginal. Our waitress was enthusiastic and friendly but fairly incompetent. She asked us if we wanted to order dessert not realizing we never got dinner and screwed up a very easy drink order. I had high hopes for my first time at Viaggio, but I probably won't return. There are too many other restaurants to try in Chicago.
Very good food and great service! Definitely will be back in the future!
We always love it here and the staff treats my family very well!
Great service, delicious food, good value. A nice place for a relaxed birthday celebration or a meal with friends and family.
Had family from out of town from Reno Nevada
We had a wonderful time food was excellent
Just wish they could do something about the sound factor
Every every noisy
But we love this place
Was our first time there on a Friday night and that’s probably why it seemed so loud
We are usually there on a Sunday evening and it’s not as loud then
Great service and the food was excellent. Will be returning
It was our first time here and we loved it! The food was delicious and the atmosphere and service was wonderful. We will definitely come back again. We had a very enjoyable time .
Food was very delicious, love the music, no issue parking plenty off street metered parking or Valet.
Staff very attentive.
Excellent food and service. Waitress was fantastic we sang together.
I have been going to Viaggio since just after it opened. In fact, I have probably been there close to 100 times. What keeps me coming back, are the excellent waitstaff (Nick as been there since the beginning and it always excellent), and the food is consistently fantastic. My mother is Italian, and the food at Viaggio is closest to her cooking that any other Italian restaurant I have ever been to. I have tried almost everything on the menu and I have never been disappointed. This place is a real gem!
Very good . Cute place home made pasta dish was soooo good
I went here tonight and took my father for his birthday dinner. The service was impeccable including learning my fathers name discreetly so when they sang happy birthday they knew his name. The food was absolutely amazing. I had two specials that they let me combine for only a six dollar up charge consisting of chilean sea bass in a lemon sauce served with linguine which they let me substitute the linguine for the other special, a black truffle risotto with sausage and mushrooms. I cannot tell you which dish I enjoyed more. The portions are large and allow you to have a second meal to take home. My father had a spaghetti in meat sauce and keeps raving about it. I cannot wait to go back here! I would highly recommend this place to everyone.
Food fantastic as always. Service is top notch.
My friend and I had a great experience!! They serve roasted green peppers with the bread which I have never seen before, but loved! Lemon drop martini was delicious as well as the food, our waiter was amazing as well! Definitely a little pricey, 14$ a martini when u have 3 is a lot of money but still worth it!
Excellent food and good vibes
We had a great night at Viaggio. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. I had the sea bass special and it was spectacular. My husband had a chicken dish that was huge...and delicious. The chocolate kahlua cake was a great way to end the meal.
I always enjoy Viaggio. Consistently exceptional traditional Italian cuisine. Kristen did a nice job of providing for our needs but not being intrusive. Where else in Chicago can you get this value while likely getting street parking?
The food was amazing and authentic. The service was impeccable. We had a great time and will definitely be back. Neighborhood gem.
We've been going since it opened and although we don't get out nearly as much anymore, we made it the site of a special occasion (birthday) and were once again rewarded by great food and warm hospitality .
This is one of the great Italian restaurant/bar in Chicago. It’s a lively atmosphere, the seating is a bit cramped and it’s noisy, but the food is worth it. The salmon and brick chicken are the best; for a light meal do the salmon, but if your hungry, the brick chicken does the job.
Outstanding service and delicious food. Particularly wonderful were the roasted peppers that are served with the bread. Would def eat here again.
Excellent food, but plates were brought out before we even finished our cocktails
