JohnPaul Lappin heads up the kitchen delivering classic dishes presented in his own inimitable contemporary style. The menu focuses on seasonal and, wherever possible, locally sourced products.
Situated in Glasgow City Centre equidistant from Queen Street station and Glasgow Central station, 3 minute walk, makes Urban ideal for business/conference meals. We also have Glasgow's most popular theatres on our doorstep so start your evening here at Urban.
Need to book at 7:00 PM?Other great restaurants with availability.
One of the nicest relaxed places to eat in Glasgow
Great venue for dining and talking. Privacy and noise interference at proper levels. I wouldn’t hesitate to dine there again.
Calm oasis in the city centre, splendid deco surroundings. Attentive service.
Booked Urban probably 3 weeks in advance and was called to confirm I would still be going about a week before time.
I have eaten and had drinks there many times and have always been impressed by the food, service and ambiance.
Disappointed on 14th when arrived to discover that the menu was a Set Valentines Menu
Not impressed by the food and think it was poor value at £45
if the restaurant has said in advance it was this type of menu we would have booked for another time
We enjoyed our meal on Friday night, service, food quality all good. Considered the price of the Scallop and Prawn starter a bit steep at £13, else reasonable value.
Valentines menu, aside from steak being a little small, great experience. Waiter / hosts were all very nice and this is often under appreciated when working a busy festive type service. First time at Urban however I will be back.
Excellent welcome and excellent service throughout our visit. Food was very good and very well presented, the ambiance was very pleasant and relaxing, perfect for a long unhurried lunch
We had a table for 5 people, the server Waheed was excellent, very friendly and knowledgeable. It was a birthday celebration and a lovely biplane was given to the birthday girl. Would definitely return and recommend.
No hesitation in recommending and will be returning. Staff were excellent.
Had a Manhattan atmosphere!
lovely surroundings, great service and food, would recommend
Outstanding food. Will be back. Was first time in restaurant although been many times in bar.
Friendly staff, good food.
Food was great. Enjoyed everything, it was all well cooked. I was cheered up by the fact that they also had decent house wine (which was not the case in the last 2 places I have been to!)
Service great and atmosphere perfect.
The cleanliness and attention to detail is lovely
As ever, just about the best place to eat and ‘talk shop’ in Glasgow.
Good food and lovely staff in a cosy setting. First time and will certainly return
We have been customers of the Urban Bar for many years however on this occasion we had to send one main course back as it was cool and undercooked. Also one small pitta bread with the humus starter is a bit mean don’t you think.
This place never fails, every visit you get the usual quality
All amazing which resulted in a 5 Hour Late Lunch with friends , a wonderful day.
Can’t wait to go back,
It's been a while since we were last dining here. It was great returning and being greeted by familiar staff who were pleased to see us. We were made most welcomed.
What is really good about this restaurant is twofold. The lack of music so that conversations can be heard, and also the distance between the tables. Service has always been impeccable and the presentation of food with proper linen service is really something. If you want to impress a client or even a girlfriend/boyfriend, then this is the place to come.
Food was undercooked, sent back and one meal was still undercooked. Rib eye steak was 31.00. No veg or mushrooms or onion ring, just accompanied by chunky frozen chips.
Food was excellent, service was faultless and peace and quiet was delightful .
The Urban never disappoints. The decor is relaxing, and comfortable. I like the fact that there is space between ourselves and the other diners. We have been coming for years, and I note the menu seems a bit more restrictive. Also bread no longer offered routinely. However we both liked what we ordered, and had a pleasant evening
As it was Hogmanay the restaurant was a bit quiet but that didn't bother us. The waitress informed us on seating that the restaurant was closing early but we had plenty time and were not rushed in any way. The food was fabulous and the service great. All in all a great night in a lovely environment.
Service was incredibly friendly - food was delicious.
We've eaten here many times before, but were disappointed this time. The New Year's 3 course menu choices were limited and the main menu was very expensive, for what we got. Our table was away from the main dining area.
It was my first time in restaurant and I really enjoyed the full experience. I’ll definitely be back
The food was lovely but the service really let it down. I’ve been many times before and always had a great experience, however twenty minutes to clear our main plates and then 15 mins waiting on our second bottle of wine (glasses were empty due to the time we waited for someone to take 2nd drink order) overall we felt like we had been forgotten about in the corner. Food was delicious though!
I have been to this restaurant dozens of times over the years and it is a favourite place to meet and dine with friends. This time on Dec 27th, a number of dishes were unavailable and the dishes we had were lacklustre in comparison with what we have enjoyed before. The waiter gave us a free bottle of wine due to the wait between courses. The lovely waiting staff did a fantastic job in what appeared to be difficult circumstances.
Having come to Urban many times and bringing friends and family to enjoy the food and service, I was disappointed that one of my party was refused a cocktail because it wasn’t on the Christmas menu. To then see someone in the bar drinking that relatively simple cocktail was annoying. I felt that Our server could have at least tried to accommodate the request. It was clearly not something that the bar staff were unable to make and the restaurant was not overly busy. It was not what I would have expected from Urban. I feel that I have been let down and I will not rush back and I won’t bring my family for any further special celebrations. Such a simple thing to get right. A real shame.
Lovely restaurant, good atmosphere and surroundings, will definitely be back
We have been celebrating Christmas with friends at Urban for many years and have always enjoyed the experience. This year we noticed a downturn in the quality of service, with drinks orders taking ages. My lemon sole was served with chips, but no veg unlike previously. I asked for some veg and received a small bowl of overcooked veg, for which I was charged something like £4.50. Not sure we’ll be back.
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. We had to snake our way through the bar crowd, but it was the Friday before Christmas. We CDC would have given 5 stars for ambiance, but it was a bit dark. We will go back!
Had such a lovely Christmas lunch. Table for seven, one unwell & not eating, one missed train & was late but nothing was too much bother. The food was outstanding in spite of us ordering late& the wines were varied & affordable. The staff couldn’t have done any more to make our visit so pleasant.
Tried to use out itison voucher but was told it could be used and the lighting was very dim could hardly read the menu and the meal wasn't up to their usual standard
Beautiful Glasgow building converted into a restaurant and bar with facilities for private dining. Lots of interesting choices. This was our usual Christmas girl’s lunch venue and was a very enjoyable day. Service is good, staff polite, helpful and attentive. We always choose the same things! Food was very good although I do think that last Christmas was a tad better. Portion size just right for three courses!
Third visit in as many weeks it’s a fantastic place to meet up with friends and the tables are placed so that your conversation is not overhead. Staff are superb.
Six of us had superb Christmas lunch. Great table, staff attentive without being overbearing and food very nice. Busy enough for there to be a lovely atmosphere.
Nice venue good Christmas decorations nice staff, good location.
