What Insiders Are Saying
Universally appealing, consistently excellent, and one of our favorite places in all of NYC.
Great food and great service
The waiter was excellent but the manager is rude. The cacio pepe is usually great but has been very peppery lately!
Great food and fantastic service.
The space is warm and beautiful, with curves and wood and beautiful flowers!!!
Our Sommelier, Nicolas was charming, extremely knowledgeable and helpful in pairing wines with our food choices- The Steak Tartare being a standout for me, and the crispy mushroom and Branzino were also very delicious! Our waiter, Jake, was also wonderful! Wonderful staff, great service and food!
Checked in late but they were accommodating to get us seated in a timely manner.
I liked the restaurant and it had a great buzz. It is not for a quiet dinner. I was disappointed that my artichoke was too hard to eat. I was also not pleased to receive my main course before I finished my starter.
I was given a pudding as a compensation for the hard artichoke. It was lovely but I could have done without eating it as I had already had enough food and did not want a pudding.
Consistently delicious! Service was just OK this time, but we were there on the later side...
All three of us loved the cacio e pepe and the crispy duck wings! I will definitely come back for more. Thank you for the great food and service.
I used to love this restaurant, but my recent experience was very disappointing. Ceasar salad was extremely bitter, and the chicken wrap tasted like something I could make at home with little effort. Mostly just lettuce and shredded chicken- nothing special at all. It almost felt like cheap fast food :( The bucatini was delicious though. We also had the sundae which was also meh. So underwhelming and unimpressive for a restaurant at this price point which used to be so much better.
Our party of three had a great meal and an enjoyable evening on the Saturday night of a Holiday weekend. Friendly unpretentious setting and delicious food. Can't wait to return. I can specifically recommend the pappardelle, monkfish, and kale pizza. Would pass on the carrots but so much more we want to try. Minor quibble was that it was an extremely hot and humid evening and the ac in the restaurant couldn't keep up - it was very warm in there. Most guests and definitely the waitstaff were sweating. We might have stayed for after dinner drinks/coffee/dessert but we were just too hot.
i usually love upland but the dish that i ordered was not up to par. i USUALLY get the bucatini or the caesar first and then share the bronzino for 2 -- all of which are delicious and generously portioned. this time, i ordered the salmon which was TINY and the side salad had very strange flavors that did not mesh well with fish
We have been here before and it is always good service, but this time something went wrong. It was a table of 3 for brunch and the order was an egg tortilla, eggs benedict and the quiche. For some strange reason the egg tortilla came out first and we figure the next 2 item will follow behind. After about 2 minutes we get our waiter and ask her to take back the tortilla till everything is ready. For a 3 top, it took awhile for out whole order to come. We're surprise for a restaurant of this caliber that this happened.
Perfectly charming restaurant with fabulous food and attentive service!
I have absolutely loved having brunch here, however, my dinner was not the best. The ambiance is incredible, the cocktails are good, and the staff is lovely. The menu is very seasonal, so I recommend looking in advance to see if the offerings suit our taste for that time of year.
I’ve been to Upland several times- only this time was with family and kids. The ambiance and decor is stunningly beautiful. It has a mid-century /mod industrial chic design which is very cool. The bar experience is fabulous and the mixologists are no joke. They do make the experience of having a drink quite lovely. Eating experience is just as lovely. From the home made bread - (yum) to the pastas, pizzas, steak or salmon it’s a home run! Caesar salad is not your traditional salad- no creamy dressing- definitely different. Dessert was lovely as well and the sommelier was quite helpful. Love love love this place for its consistency and overall unique experience.
The attitude was really bad, they try to gave us a table very bad , and they were no nice service, except for the two Mexican guys, but everyone looks in a bad mood. Maybe is the relationship between all of them. Cacio e pepe was good, but don’t deserve to go there to have it, when you have a lot of places in nyc that they make it.
We are not going back.
Food was amazing
Food and ambience were very good. However, the lack of air conditioning on an 80° plus evening truly took away from the experience.
Steak was too salty. Almost inedible. Waitress was aggressive and judgmental of our order.
Awesome Italian influenced cuisine. Staff were friendly, efficient and fun. Food was absolutely amazing.
Love it, consistently very good food ambiance and service. Nice and spacious and elegant without being stuffy.
Fabulous as I remembered. The food was so good. Next time, I will have double orders of the duck wings as my main course. So delicious.
Little attitude at the front of the house and grilled bread entree was never grilled. Clearly a mistake and handled promptly and properly. Have dined her a lot and will continue to do so.
Food was wonderful! Service was warm and friendly.
The cheeseburger is a must. One of the best cheeseburgers I have ever had. Baby gem salad was also exceptional.
I loved this place but two things consistently happen when I’m there: food takes FOREVER to arrive and it’s so super loud I can’t hear my guests. Sitting at the bar alleviates a lot of these issues. Food is simply delish. I always get the kale sausage pizza & little gem salad!
Always an outstanding experience. Great food and atmosphere.
Hostesses were rude, we had a 9pm reservation they sat us at 9:40pm. Our server was lovely.
Pretty restaurant, pretty much all I can say.... food was very disappointing compared to the price & portion. Everything was drenched with salt, a lot of salt. Seemed like the chef was not present or lost his/her taste bud....Ordered pappardelle and couldn’t even finish it as I was full from drinking too much water due to saltiness. Ordered gem salad, it tasted like it was drizzled with fish sauce, yuck! It wasn’t mentioned on the menu! I told the server about it and he was nice enough to offer to a different salad, but didnt take it. Ordered sausage+kale pizza, also salty (less salty than the pasta). Lastly, ordered beer, 1/3 was foam in a small glass... I’d recommend to a friend only to experience the ambiance, but that’s it. Sadly, can’t see myself going back, even though I live only 2 blocks away.
Love this place but we we’re placed at a table kind of jn no mans land in bar area right next to a water/register station. First round of dishes came out too quickly and all at once, then a long wait for the main (a shared bronzino dish). Food was quite good - little gem salad and cacio e Pepe pasta were best, fish also really good with bright vinegary flavors. Mushroom was a bit soggy and the crudo a bit too sweet. Love Upland but have had better experiences there in the past. All good, will still be back!
LOVE this restaurant! Great food and service!
Loved having a booth: food and service excellent as always
The food was delicious. Our waiter, however, was not particularly helpful when we ordered and lead us to order way too much food.
Our waiter Ryan was great!
I've been quite a few times but had the best experience so far on Saturday night. The staff was incredibly kind and attentive. Everyone at the table was raving about the beef tartar and loved their entrees. Someone in our party of five was roughly 35 minutes late, but we were able to have a delicious drink at the bar and sat a little early until the fifth person arrived. Will be returning soon and recommending to all friends and visitors to the city!
my parents arent the most frequent of "fine diners", but this was a special occasion and we went in early for dinner (530 reservation) to avoid noise (and to avoid being a bother during "peak" dinner hour). I was really disappointed with how gracelessly the waitress handled my mom's request for a peach cocktail. yes, she went a little rogue/off menu, but it's not like she ordered a jager bomb. waitress basically stormed off and left us to google a cocktail recipe on our smartphones then communicate it to the bartender. from there on out, we were treated as imbeciles. The food was pretty good (my wife and I had been previously and I frequently dine in the area for work) and the ambiance is great, but I won't be returning or recommending this place to anyone.
Server Ryan was amazing! Bussers were en point; dining experience was seamless.
Labne cheesecake was amazing !
We would have liked to stay for dessert but there was a big lag between courses and the dinner plates sat empty for a long time before being given dessert coffee menus and we had a show to get to.
My wife’s food was great. My food was alright. The beef tartare was stunning and the spaghetti with seafood was fantastic.
The decor, vibe, fun and newness is all great at Uplands. Tried the roast chicken soup which was delicious, don’t have the wraps as thee are many gorgeous things on menu!! Enjoy.
