The poor waitress was pulled on so many tables it was hard to get service (not her fault)
Took over an hour to get our food
Restaurant was super busy so it was loud! Tough to hold a conversation with others at the table but we managed. Service was decent--a little slow but that could be because it was so busy. Food was delicious.
Early Father’s Day Dinner
We arrived to the restaurant and immediately placed our order once seated. Our order got in before noon but it took us over 35 minutes to receive our meal so that was very disappointing because this was a special occasion but yet we were in a bit of a timetable. We used to love coming here as a family but Service has declined over the years.
Food was very good, chips and salsa were excellent—way above average. My only caveat is that of 6 people in our party two of us received food different than the way we ordered it. In one case she ordered beef taco salad and got chicken, and in the other case I asked for tacos without raw onion garnish but got onions anyway. I picked off the raw onions and they brought beef to add to the salad and both dishes were excellent so just a minor nuisance.
The service was Horrible!!! We made reservations and were seated immediately. Then after 15 minutes without any response from the staff, I had to grab a server from another table to inquire about our server. A young lady shows up and says,”no one assigned you a server so I guess I will take care of you.” We should be so grateful to have a server do her job! When the food came it was okay. Nothing special. Plenty of food but nothing special. First and last experience at Uncle Julio’s!
It was my birthday celebration and the food was wonderful!! We topped it off with a chocolate piñata which was awesome. Our granddaughters had a blast with “opening up” that wonderful desert.
If you love canned food (except the fresh guacamole mixed in front of you) and bad service, go for it....
Birthday dinner. Had a wonderful experience. Chocolate Piniata was a big hit!
Tabke side guac way too salty. Cheese enchiladas gooey and tasteless.
We had booked for 6pm and had to wait 20 minutes for our table. I thought that was the "beauty" of Open Table that you would get seated at the requested time.
Love this place so much!! We come here for all our special occasions and just for last minute dining too
Great. We love Uncle Julios. Glad we can go to Reston fairly easily. My favorite Fajitas. When I bring out if town guests, thr feed back is very positive. The food is fantastic! We refuse to go to the One Loudoun location, service there is awful and the Managers are the issue.
Decent food. Could have done without a bird pooping on me during lunch. Would also have been awesome if our order came out correctly the first time.
We always enjoy the food at Uncle Julio's. However, this time we were very disappointed that one of our favorite dishes - chili rellenos - are no longer on the menu. We told our waiter about our concern, and he said a lot of people have complained!
Too loud. Unresponsive service. Water leaking from plastic cups - took long to clean up. And nothing offered in terms of additional napkins etc. Wait staff was very indifferent. Noise was too loud that you could not talk.
Food wasn’t very good. It used to better back a few years ago. Waiter screwed up drink orders
Used to be a great place. Food is still pretty good but they've recently skimmed on their portions. But what is horrible is the noise level. Unfortunately it's so loud that dining there is no longer enjoyable. You actually have to shout for the person to hear you at your own table 😏
I met colleagues at Uncle Julio’s prior to commencing a two day meeting. A few of us were late, and the staff was very accommodating. The guacamole was fresh and delicious. The service was very good as well.
The food was delicious, when it finally arrived. Unfortunately, it took FOREVER. The server did refill the chips bowl once, and they kept our water glasses filled, but otherwise we were pretty much ignored until the food finally came out. I don't think they were slammed -- we arrived early for our reservation and they were still able to seat us immediately and no one was waiting to be seated -- so that isn't the explanation. They also reported us to Open Table as no-shows, when we were there for an extensive period of time and also made a point of telling them that we had a reservation. We enjoyed our lunch, but it could have been better (we were so full on chips and beverages we didn't enjoy our meals like we should have by the time we got them).
Both food and service were excellent. Our server, Alfredo was both prompt and friendly and the quality and taste of our food was excellent. We will return.
The Food and the environment was good but he waiter was not very engaging and seemed very distant as if he had a lot on his mind.
Floor was not clean. Another customer slipped and fell on our table. We were covered with spilled food. No manager ever came over to speak to us. No one even came over to talk to the customer who fell on his back! Amazing!!
Something new that we noted this time was that the server brought the bill insisting we pay 18% or 20% tip! Not that we would have not given 20% anyways but it looked rather uncouth for servers "vociferously" asking us to do so!
Fantastic guacamole !
As far as Mexican restaurants go, the food is good. The chips are thin and crisp and you can have tacos with flour or corn shells. The margarita swirls are great!
Birthday celebration for our 7 year old grandson that everyone loved. He loved the chocolate Piñata with a special birthday message for him...Great family destination.
Had a reservation for 7:00 showed up at the time of the reservation and still had to wait 30 minutes to be seated. Once seated the service was good but not happy about having to wait even when I made a reservation.
Our waiter was the best, food just OK. Our waiter was a "newbie", this being his second day. He make a couple minor errors but made up for it by being super attentive. One person's drink had to be returned but bar staff was apologetic. My carne aside steak was great but friends' fajita steak was chewy. Overall not the best place for Mexican food.
The food was great but service was pretty bad. We were told we could only have a small plate since we ordered fajitas but after waiting 15 minutes, we finally got a normal-sized plate. Manager and wait staff seemed to be a bit stingy in their plates and take out boxes.
We were seated immediately and enjoyed a great dinner and drinks. Our waiter was such fun! We will go back!
The food was good except the steak for the fajitas. There was just too much fat in it. Very chewy, I only ate about half ft it. The rest was fine, though.
Great! It was good!
Fabulous food & ambiance
Be ready to be packed into a small table that is extremely close to the tables around u!!
Had the honey chicken fajitas for two and they were fabulous. Chicken very tender, bacon crisp, tortillas fresh, rice and beans tasty, and fajita garnishes plentiful. Will definitely return for the same dinner.
We are regulars at this restaurant as we live in Reston. We always have a tasty and pleasant dining experience here. The staff is hard working and attentive. The food is always plentiful and delicious. We began with the tableside guacamole (a real treat), followed by the fish soft taco plate and the crispy taco plate. Because we took some food home, we managed to squeeze in room for the wonderful flan for dessert. We remain impressed at the thoroughness of the customer service despite of the crowds and the sometimes- hectic atmosphere. We will continue to both dine here ourselves and to bring visiting guests. Keep up the good work!
Very noisy restaurant - could not hear people sitting next to me. Mojito was delicious! Food was tasty. We got the guacamole and asked for no jalapenos but the lady making it did not hear us and put them in. Our server, Robin, was very good and around often and always checked up on us. We made reservations and were seated almost as soon as we got in.
Very cramped. Server making specialty drinks stood right in front of our table for half the meal making drinks. Other Julio’s in the area seem to offer better service and ambiance.
Server was friendly and attentive. Food was great. Definitely a place to go back to.
