No safe guards in place during Corona. The table I booked wast ready..so they made us sit in a cramped bar where every one spoke loudly at eachother faces.
You you'd expect a ton more from a venue that is apparently premium...
Very poor show
Terrible venue with zero respect for social distancing. Tried to sit me cheek by jowl with another couple. Moved me after I made a fuss but all tables jammed in and place packed. I left. Disgraceful operation
waitress was extremely rude and unfriendly
did not help with a dairy allergy
Food is great but a bit expensive because of their small portions. And our server forgot to put in one of our order. It didn’t arrive. 🙄
We were sat in a quite and reserved table.the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful even though the place was busy.
The white fish sashimi with truffle was superb.leave space for dessert;)
We had a very enjoyable evening.we arrived early and the staff suggested us to have some drinks at the bar.Once the table was ready we moved in the restaurant. The atmosphere was very quite and relaxing. We ordered wagyu as starter plus some classic Japanese dumplings. We end our meal sharing a black cod in miso. The quality of food was amazing.
We had an absolutely wonderful meal. The service was impeccable, staff always available but not intrusive.Highly recommend their aubergine and the sashimi that was very fresh!
We ordered a sushi selection and it was probably the best sushi we’ve ever had.The management was good, specially during this COVID-19 situation.
the prices are not cheap but definitely worthy
Food was great, not very big portions but the food is very tasty, I’d recommend the black cod miso, the broccoli and the asparagus.
The service was fantastic. We also had a bottle of wine.
Delicious food and lovely restaurant, quick service, went on a quiet Sunday lunchtime. Good veggie options!
Vibe and service was amazing - brilliant for a fun date or night out.
We had the sushi lovers platter and as sushi fans it was definitely not the best we’ve ever had for the price (£45)
UKAI gave us an AWFUL experience they had overbooked the restaurant and refused us entry to the restaurant.
We waited for 30 mins outside in the cold and still had no luck. We Eventually gave up, which was pretty awful for my father in law’s 60th birthday, where they had made a special effort to come into central London to go to the restaurant
We were really appalled by the service and the lack of care and attention to paying customers
We had an incredible first dining experience at Ukai largely due to the lovely waitress, Chime, who was attentive and responsive despite an extremely busy C19 night - thank you Chime!. HOWEVER, very disappointed to say that our night was soured by the actions of the “manager” - Alex. He went above and beyond in making it clear that he wanted our table back whilst we were still waiting for our final drinks and desserts and throughout our desserts. If he had told us that our table was only available for LESS than two hours when we sat down, we would have accepted it. Our bill was not small for two people as we were happy to go out and support the hospitality industry during this challenging time but sadly not again at Ukai due to the unfortunate actions of one said “manager’.
It was phenomenal
Amazing food and fantastic atmosphere
Def gonna come here more
Service was shocking. But I should have expected that given the other reviews. Also they don’t seem to be taking social distancing of the tables seriously enough.
Food was good but we waited so long for it and orders with food allergy warnings were gotten wrong more than once.
We had a lovely time celebrating our anniversary. The food was great and it was our first time out - Post Covid. It did seem rather crowded but overall I’d highly recommend this restaurant. We had a wonderful night and the food was excellent.
the restaurant allows booking at 21:00 and the moment we set down the waiter was rude and ask us to order because they're closing the kitchen.
don't understand why you give the option a table for 21:00 if you know you need to close at 22:00, then the client isn't feeling the vibes from this beautiful restaurant
Love the food here. Service can be sketchy. Noisy on fri/sat but I prefer that. Lots of fun.
As always, a nice place to go to. Lovely atmosphere. Fresh fish and nice drinks. The only negative aspect is that with the new covid rules, we felt a bit rushed as they have to close at 10:00 pm. Not their fault but it's not nice to feel you need to finish soon... Especially when their ambiance is so nice. Can't wait to go back to normal.
I don’t give them a zero only because it’s not among the options. I have never seen such a bad service in a restaurant. I ordered food, they never brought it-after 2 hours. I basically had to had my dinner home, as I had to have a sandwich home! Staff super rude, beside a waiter named Claudia, who was the only one being nice. I warmly advise you to stay away from this place, worse restaurant ever I have been in London. McDonald’s might have a better service. Absolutely horrible!!!!
Sushi was delicious! Prawn tempura was lovely.
Everything else I wouldn't recommend. Gyoza was bland (had both veggie and wagyu). Chicken yakitori and beef skewers were cooked beautifully, tender and moist - but tasteless. A little seasoning would have gone a long way.. I don't want to dip everything in soy.
Ambience is lovely and service impeccable.
If social distancing is a concern for you.. the tables were too close together.
Delicious sushi. Service good. They seated everyone next to each other, though, when there was plenty of space to practice more distancing by spreading people out in the restaurant. We asked to move to the empty side and the staff allowed us to.
Portions could be bigger for the price you pay, food was nice.. ambience was great.
Local and nice
Great team and a great owner! Lovely food!!!!! :-)
Lovely family meal
Always such great meals here at Ukai. Such a vibey restaurant and the owner and all the staff are SO friendly and helpful.
1st time using restaurant. Very chaotic fro outset. Limited menu and chicken was NOT available, sold out by 2pm. Yhe tempura prawns and chicken wing starters were excellent, however mains were poor and side dishes arrived too late to eat with them. Overall very disappointed. Manager had to be cornered to address issues and blamed the kitchen, never a good sign. Had bill reduced considerably. Maybe we were unlucky that day. Would return but for bar nibbles only. Place has a great atmosphere, ambience and music. Been many times and left happy but would not book meal again.
Fantastic Sunday Lunch and cocktails. Highly recommended
Food was incredible, service was good but music was far too loud. Lots of people crowding in for the bar made it busy and hard to hear what anyone was saying which was unexpected for a sushi restaurant.
Food was decent - although sat 40 mins late, rudely dealt with throughout, 20 mins for drinks, forgot a dish and made a fuss and culminated in waitress calling us cheap for not wanting to pay service after an appalling evening! Plenty of places with same if not better food, for definitely better prices, without the rudeness which ruined the evening so wouldn’t recommend.
Food is amazing: Butterfish sashimi, wagyu tataki, mochis and cocktails were excellent!! Best dish I had was the spider maki!
Atmosphere is so cool, Dj playing at the entrance and fantastic decor :)
Had a wonderful night and staff was also friendly and attentive!
10/10 we will be back
we had dinner last Saturday and lunch this week.We just moved in the area few weeks ago..The wagyu sirloin was delicious, the sushi and in general all the food we ordered was outstanding
The food was very good but some of the prices were high considering the size of the item.
Drinks at the bar were great but the food and service for dinner was not...
Positive experience marred by over billing- billed for dishes not served. Management contacted but no response
Very good and great ambience!
We were attended beautifully and had a great food experience.
Food was excellent but service was terrible and there was zero concept of social distancing measures. We waited ages for drinks after asking a few times, waiters leaning over us to serve our table as we were packed in, one waitress spilt liquid from one of the dishes all over my dress and did nothing about it/no follow up. It was very busy and loud. You wouldn't have known there was a pandemic. No one way system, no PPE, tables close together packed in. I won't go back even for good sushi.
Service was great from the staff, but the food was a bit slow, as were the cocktails. Food and cocktails were very good, just took a while to arrive from ordering.
