Tsunami - Clapham
Service was sketchy. Had to ask four times for our drinks. Went to front desk to pay for bill rather than waiting. At no point was told it was a set menu that night. Food was excellent but wouldn't have ordered half of it ourselves and there was too much.
Overall a great evening, the set menu for Valentines was suitable for almost everyone and was a nice taster experience. Only downside is the price (you're in Clapham not Chelsea so don't charge £7 for a pint) and the time we waited between meals (roughly 30min). Otherwise a great experience.
The overall service was poor on all fronts. We were seated for almost twenty minutes before we were able to order, despite other diners who came in after us being served.
A waiter then proceeded to crush a huge fly on our table with our sparkling water bottle and just left it there!
There was a group of 6 dining whilst we were there and they seemed to get preferential treatment over all other diners even though the restaurant was not busy.
There seemed to be a smell of toilet cleaner in the restaurant and during the daytime you can see the place could do with a refurb
Hadn’t been in ages. Food and service excellent as ever. Decor a bit tired
Thoroughly enjoyed the meal.
Great food, service and the all you can eat was really good value.
Helpful and polite staff. Food was reasonably priced good value for money. It was recommended by my daughter. I would come and recommend to others. Thank you
Service was attentive, and food is amazing. Highly recommend a visit. Nice bar area also, although small.
service was a little slow and they had to be promoted to pour the bubbles for the bottomless brunch promotion. The food was lovely though and a good time had by all!
Great food, service & company
Outstanding food and excellent atmosphere. Only spoilt by very long wait between starters and main course.
Food was overpriced for what it was. Ceiling was dripping water. Decor and menus look like they haven't been refreshed in a long time. Sushi and tempura were fairly good quality, but no better than any of the many sushi restaurants around London, and portions were small. Biggest disappointment was the squid, which tasted like it came from a middling Italian restaurant. I'm not sure what all the fuss is about!
friendly staff, good food and quite place x
Food was excellent and arrived very quickly after ordering. We took advantage of the early evening dining discount which is certainly worthwhile. We were seating close to the door and bar, which was a bit of a distraction due to the cold breeze and also people clustering close to the table while waiting for seating. Staff did allow us to draw a curtain on one side which gave more privacy and also sheltered us.
We go to tsunami on a regular basis since it opened over 10 years ago. The food is always delicious and service always excellent. It’s one of our favourite go to restaurants.
Proper Japanese with Nobu prices. A hidden Clapham gem. You must go there.
I would highly recommend for good place to chill and enjoy great food
Always good food, a very busy evening and they were rushed off their feet but they kept it going.
Delicious! The food is exceptional and the cocktails were great too - good size and you could taste the alcohol. Really enjoyed our New Year's Eve dinner here.
Good food, good night, quality resturant, will be back for sure!
Food always amazing but disappointing service last 2 times I have eaten here.
Great food n atmosphere! Love the cod and aubergine dishes!! Good service
Fantastic value for weekend brunch. The food is always delicious and great service
I first went to Tsunami in 2009 and it was great then.. I’m happy to say it’s still a brilliant little restaurant 10 years later!
Would happily have given 4.5 stars across the board. Handy location, really nice food, variety, value and service
One of the best restaurants in South London
Delicious flavours Excellent service
Good value for money
Outstanding food- great service
Food was pretty good, otherwise a bit like eating in a nightclub atmosphere wise, service was friendly if a little slow
The food was very good and the service was excellent.
The only thing stopping me from grading it higher is i have been to better restaurants but that takes nothing away from Tsunami which is a great neighbourhood restaurant
Service was shockingly slow and often inaccurate
Initially the hostess that greeted us was not the nicest and made an issue because we knew the girls on the table next to us. She tried to tell my table to move because other guests wanted to sit where we were sitting (very unprofessional). However, another waiter/manager came and diffused the situation and turned the whole things around! He gave us great service and was very accommodating! Ending the birthday celebrations perfectly!
Overall really good but it did start to get busy a bit later which did affect service - we ordered a few shots which never came and then it took us ages to pay our bill. We were charged for the shots so had to wait longer for those to be taken off adding more time to what was already a long time. But I really like this restaurant, I would recommend it and I will be returning
I was very impressed with my experience here. It was my first time and I really enjoyed the food. The service was great and I look forward to returning soon
Very Good Food and a Great place to celebrate your Birthday.
Truly shocking experience at this former great restaurant. We were served by what I can only describe as a used car salesman in a shoddy suit masquerading as a waiter. After waiting 40 mins to receive our starters, we left.
Been a couple of times before Highly recommend, Amazing sushi and cocktails!
Food is always very good. Found the ambiance a bit better in the evening than at lunch, but all in all, a good place to go!
Ok food. Quite basic and menu options are very limited.
Shocking service. Arrived 5 mins before our reservation time and were told our table wasn’t ready despite half the tables been free. We were told to have a drink at the bar and somebody would come collect us.
We went and stood by the bar. 20 mins later no one had come to collect us so we went back to the front desk to find out and were told in rather sarcastically our table was ready. No apology offered.
We then waited almost 15 minutes for our waitress to come take our order. Again we had to follow up.
Our first few courses arrived in a timely manner but then there was a 25 min wait for our final course to arrive. Again we had to chase up and this time another waitress spoke to us badly and reminded us it takes time to cook food.
When we left there were still half the tables free so no idea why were made to wait as clearly not busy.
Final bill was well over what I would expect to pay - more inline with high end Mayfair sushi establishment.
Will not be going back again!
Quite expensive for Clapham North but amazing food
