Pre-theater party of 6. After reading the mixed reviews, we were pleasantly surprised with the excellent service and tasty food. Cocktails were also superb. Definitely would recommend.
It was just "OK" - nothing extraordinary. The pictures online make it look much fancier than it really is. The food and the service were typical of a regular hotel, not of a high-end Marriott.
The food was good and hot. The selection was a little limited, but what they did, they did well. The service was a tad slow, the waiter was overwhelmed with the number of diners. He was fabulous, just had too many tables.
We had both breakfast and dinner at The Yard and enjoyed both meals. It was the weekend of the Ravens playoff game and the hotel was sold out so The Yard was very busy for dinner before the game. We arrived a little early for our reservation but a table was waiting for us and we were seated ahead of our reservation time. The food (crab cake sandwich and turkey BLT) was very good and the service was good despite the large crowd.
Breakfast the next morning was not as busy but still steady. My wife enjoyed the buffet while I enjoyed the a la carte waffle and bacon that I ordered. The service was once again good.
We liked The Yard so much that we decided it would give us a reason to stay at the hotel again in the future when visiting Baltimore.
We had reservations at another place which had to close unexpectedly due to plumbing problems I found The Yard on a web search and made a last minute reservation. We were obviously not the only party to do that as the restaurant suddenly became very busy with other theater goers. The staff at The Yard stepped up quickly to accommodate everyone who needed to get out in time for a show. The food was very good although I found the crabcake to be subpar for a Maryland restaurant. Flavor was good with very little filler but it was over cooked ( I believe baked or broiled but I did not verify) to the point of developing a dark, crunchy crust to the patty which was unexpected. The salads were fresh and crisp. Two in our party got the burger and said it was very good. Overall, it was very good and I would go back.
Located in lobby of Marriott, food was excellent (however pricey), service was good (however slow paced), drinks were good (however inconsistent... sugar rimmed once but not twice). Would try again.
Overall, very nice. My wife ordered a crab cake sandwich without bread and it was served on a roll. No big deal though, server was friendly and apologetic.
Made a reservation via open table and they advised they got it late and didn’t have a table ready for us on time. But after a few minutes we found a table. Food was just so so. There is truly no real brunch as breakfast is only served until 11am. Way over priced. Worst mistake of the weekend was picking this place. No thank you, next!
We went there before a show at Hippodrome. The service and ambiance was great. My seared salmon was amazing and perfectly cooked. The burgers our neighbors got looked so good that my mom and husband got one. Theirs looked amazing as well but that’s all. Looks! My mom said to me the burger tastes like nothing! She said it in Hebrew. My husband doesn’t understand Hebrew. I asked my husband how was his burger? Guess what he said? “very weird. Has no flavor.” Everything else was good. We got calamari and French onion soup. Soup was delish.
Service was very inconsistent and the kitchen struggled even more in getting the food out in a timely
manner, with some of my party served and others needing to wait until their food was served.
I am a Marriott rewards member and was sorely disappointed.
I must however commend the manager. I made him aware of the situation and he instantly took action to ameliorate the situation and basically begin 'customer recovery' He deserves high marks for accepting his
responsibilities and succeeded in mollifying me and my guests.
Poor service, bland food and had to wait on a table for which I had a reservation. That was my first and last time eating at the Yard.
It wasn’t busy but the food took over 40 minutes to get to the table. Not sure if I’m just not from there and that’s normal, but staff was passive about it and didn’t seem to mind if we came back or not.
Our server was nice, a little busy and overwhelmed. She brought starters but forgot our drinks from the bar twice. The food was hit or miss. The crab soup and mussels were very good. The crab pretzel was below average. The drinks were good. Just an ok experience.
My go-to spot to dine when visiting downtown Baltimore. As always, the food and drinks were great as well as the service. Will definitely return.
The fried chicken sandwich was bland and the breading on the chicken was pathetic. I asked for no mustard on my order but apparently that was too much to ask. Our waitress was extremely slow when it came to anything and only checked on us once and that was after we were finished. Would not recommend this place. Leave the hotel and eat elsewhere.
I do not remember our servers name, but she could not have been lovelier. She got everything correct and knew we were going to the Orioles game, so she made sure that we got our food in a timely manner. The restaurant was really nice and I would highly recommend it before or after an Oriole's game.
Expensive hotel food. Friendly service but they forgot things and I had to hunt them down to get a server to bring the sides and ketchup that were missing.
First time diner during Baltimore Restaurant Week. Sat in the back room directly behind the bar; nice quiet area. Tried the Baltimore Bloody Mary, the French onion soup, the blackened catfish, and the brownie sundae. Everything was very delicious and enough food to feel full but not as though you overindulged. The guyerè cheese and sourdough on top of the french onion soup was genius. The catfish dish was well seasoned but not salty. The fish itself was cooked perfectly. One can’t go wrong with a nice chocolate brownie, vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, chocolate sauce, and a cherry. Very nice meal. The server and other staff was attentive and friendly. Excellent experience and looking forward to visiting again soon. Thank you.
Bad service - messed up our order. Many restaurants in the area and unfortunately we picked the wrong one.
This was a return visit for me before attending an event in downtown Baltimore. I made reservations because I figured it would be busy due to the event at OPACY, and I'm glad I did because it appeared as if they had to turn walk-ins away due to the large crowds. With reservations, we were seated right away. Located within a hotel, it's a short walk from OPACY. Despite the restaurant being extremely busy, the service was excellent and we received our drinks and meal in a timely fashion. Our waitress was very attentive and pleasant. Management was helpful and friendly. Our order came out a bit incorrect, but the waitress rectified the issue quickly. Both food and drinks were satisfying. Would definitely recommend and plan to visit again in the future.
They were serving a limited menu because of a change in management - which was never communicated during the reservation process. We made the reservation based on the menu that was provided on Open Table and the Marriott website. Very disappointed. The food was overpriced, and calling it mediocre would be a compliment. NOTHING about the crab cakes and chicken entree made them worth their price. Won’t be returning here.
We ate here before seeing Hamilton and we're glad we chose it. It was a short 4-minute walk to the restaurant from the Hippodrome. I recommend making a reservation as it was busy. The restaurant is pretty and comfotable. There were people dressed up like us and people in shorts on the way to the Orioles game. A nice mix of people. It's fancy enough to feel pampered, but laid back enough to feel comfortable. We had the burgers and sweet potato fries. The burgers were juicy and delicious with great buns. The sweet potato fries were crispy, sprinkled with powdered sugar, and the best I've ever had. The service was good and un-rushed. A nice evening at The Yard.
Our experience at the Yard was excellent. The service was friendly and efficient, the food was excellent and we had a wonderful time there. It was a convenient location as we went to the Orioles game after dinner so time was important. The weather was hot so we needed a cool place to relax and the Yard provided it.
Had a quick bite before seeing Hamilton. The bean burger was nice and fresh. The fries were my favorite. In the nice cool foyer area of the Marriott.
We waited over an hour for our food and when it finally arrived, it was wrong. We left without eating as we needed to make it to a show at the Hippodrome. The waitress was extremely apologetic but the manager never apologized or said anything to us when we voiced our displeasure. Heed my advice and avoid this restaurant at all costs.
This was a mediocre meal AT BEST. We were seated at a table near the entrance of the restaurant. The restaurant is inside the hotel so we had a clear unobstructed view of the lobby. Not a big deal. However, when I went to sit down, I was shocked to see how dirty and disgusting the bench fabric was. I seriously considered putting down napkins or something for fear that my clothes would get stained. I was not expecting a 5 star restaurant but I did expect a clean restaurant. The food took over 30 minutes to arrive. Two burgers, a salad and an order of wings. We weren’t the only table to wait so long for our food as I noticed all the tables around us had no food either. Our server was nice and she did her best. Other staff seemed indifferent to serving the customers. Pretty lousy experience overall.
We were over the 15 min waiting period so they had to give our reservation away. However they were accommodating and found us a place near the bar. We were able to have some drinks, grab a bite and make it to Hamilton on time. Way to go to staff of the Yard.
4 of us dined before seeing "Hamilton" at the Hippodrome. Told our server we had a show to see and that we needed quick service. She took care of us. Our beverages and food came out almost immediately. Great service on a very busy evening.
Service was friendly but chaotic and somewhat slow. I think they may have been under staffed. Breakfast Food was fine, portions generous.
Our server (Gabe) was great as he handled our rush request and got us in and out in order to make our show. This is a great place for a quick bite if you are headed to the Hippodrome as well. Only 2 blocks due South of the Theatre.
