booked for 5 adults using a tastecard for early super at 5pm. Arrived early, but welcomed in. Excellent large table and service. Were all loved our meals, including puddings! 2 courses plus drinks for £36 - I wish we lived closer!
Four of us had cod and chips with small bowl of mushy peas and tartare sauce each. Tomato Sauce on table.
Both fish and chips were lovely. Freshly cooked with really crisp batter and crisp chips. Not the cheapest but quality was extremely good.
Lovely fish and chips in a lovely location and efficiently served by welcoming staff! Excellent meal all round.
Very enjoyable food just unfortunately very quiet - however it was a weekday morning so understandable. Would definitely return.
Fabulous location, right on the river, and there's often live music in the bandstand outside. Great food but service in the restaurant was appalling. We were left for an hour at the end of the meal before one of us finally went and asked for the bill. Good job we didn't want dessert!! Much better for takeaway or sitting outside.
Booked using our Telegraph Subscriber card which the staff we unaware of its value until the manager intervened to ok the reservation. Staff we very helpful and friendly.
Food was served promptly and well presented.
My wife was very impressed with the sea food platter as I was with the fish and chips.
All in all a good pre theatre meal and a place we would use again.
The fish and chips are unfailingly excellent. The fish is always fresh and pure white, and the crunchy batter is delicious. Service can sometimes be haphazard, but it's always worth the wait!
Excellent food and service. A bright restaurant located right on the river with very friendly and efficient staff
Booked this restaurant after reading previous reviews. Very pleased that we did. The atmosphere was relaxed and the tables were spaciously arranged. The food was delicious and excellent value for money. Would definitely recommend to friends.
Generally very good and the menu very varied with plenty of choice. The starters were excellent but two of the main course fish were overcooked. Good wheelchair access and the staff most helpful. We would use this restaurant again.
We visited the View on Saturday with our family including twin babies. The staff were very accommodating and friendly. Service was quick and efficient. High chairs available for both children. Will definitely revisit.
This is a quality restaurant that serves excellent fish and chips (and more) for a very reasonable price. The location is phenomenal, directly across the river from the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in gorgeous Stratford -upon-Avon. For great food, a friendly service and best value in Stratford, this is unbeatable.
We enjoyed our fish and chip supper and will be coming again. And the beer was pretty good as well. What more can I say.
I booked, by internet, a table for three persons on Friday evening. We arrived approximately 15 minutes later than booked and the restaurant was mostly deserted - time of year? The atmosphere within the View was dull and cold with extremely loud tannoy music playing to an audience of some 7 or 8 persons. The restaurant albeit catering excellently for 'fish and chips' is sadly run by youngsters with no experience in customer treatment. The impression was little like a MacDonald's. The Staff are friendly but young, inexperienced, dressed too casually and lack any customer charm. Maybe it was nearing closing time but it felt cold and uninviting?
I believe the View is a place to come for fish 'n chips during the summer when you can sit outside in the sun and enjoy the 'view' at the same time watch the world go by.
Recommendation, neater staff outfits, better trained staff in dealing with customers albeit they were civil and polite but you felt they were not really in the trade?
I will use the View again but not for an evening out or during the winter months.
THE FISH 'N CHIPS ARE excellent after all that.
Staff were extremely polite and helpful so no problem with that. Main issue was lack of variety of menu. Were advised no pies when we arrived so we ordered chicken and then told no chicken.
Lacked atmosphere, but it was a winter Sunday evening.
Little disappointed that restaurant was so empty. Just our table of 5 and 1 other. For some unknown reason the kitchen was closing at 8 which was fine for us as we were eating earlyish. Perhaps though this was the reason for an empty restaurant lacking in atmosphere .
That said, the meal was delicious and fresh. The service was excellent - extremely polite staff. Will def visit again if we visit the area and hope for a busier venue.
Have eaten at the view twice this week, fast becoming our favourite restaurant, great food, great prices, great service.cannot wait to return.
Was looking forwarded to trying out this restaurant but overall was disappointed. The chips were cold and hard and two of the portions consisted of the hard little scraps as if scraped from bottom of fryer. The restaurant was cold and only 3 tables were occupied and did feel like we were uninvited guests as staff wanted to go home! So overall really disappointed so much so I've cancelled the booking I had made for Boxing Day as could cook better myself !!
