The Twisted Oak
Food was very good. Our server was about as subpar as you can get for a fine dining establishment. Bad reflection of chef and product. Sadly multiple best selling items were sold out and we had only a 7:15 reservation. Which is also a ding.
The restaurant came highly recommended to us. We looked at the website. There was not a menu or prices to view on the website so we went sight unseen. At first the server was very attentive but as soon as the room started to fill, he gave us the impression we were an annoyance. The food was fair to good depending on our choice , very pricey, and the portions were TINY. We left hungry after paying a hefty price for a average meal. For those prices and portions I would expect the food to be spectacular.
Our party of 4 arrived 15 minutes late on a Saturday night and we were shown to our table with no hint of wrongdoing, lol. We were right next to the kitchen, which wouldn't have been my first choice, but it wasn't awful.
They brought us bread and cocktails very quickly and our waiter was extremely professional. Our water glasses were kept filled at all times. The pacing of the food was VERY leisurely and next time, I will make sure we aren't trying to catch a concert afterward, so we can relax and enjoy. The truffled chickpea snacks were delightful. My hubbard soup was delish. My halibut was cooked perfectly and the decadent cream sauce made it luxurious. We all enjoyed the sunchokes, although I would have liked them cooked just a touch more.
The others all enjoyed their food immensely: 2 pork loins and one duck.
No time for dessert unfortunately but we will definitely be going back.
Waiter was very druven to ingorm us how awesome this place was. . Almost to nausea
The Twisted Oak never fails to impress. Consistently good food and great service. The front room had more ambiance than the back room.
One of my favorite restaurants in the river towns. Nice ambience and very good food. Great cocktails too. Service is usually quite good.
We love this place. It's our "special occasions" spot :) and we're never disappointed!!
I took my Mother for dinner and we had an absolutely wonderful evening. We enjoyed everything as well as the meal. Pretty much a perfect evening. Going back again soon.
Restaurant week... nice menu
Service could have been better. Had a six pm reservation and the soup wasn’t ready yet. When it was served it was tepid. Service a bit slow
Delicious food and nice atmosphere! We had salmon and their fabulous gorgonzola salad.
The wait for our food, both the appetizer and the main course, was very long. We waited almost an hour for our main course; and when we finally questioned our waiter, our food came out one minute later (which meant it was ready and he probably forgot about us).
Meh. Went for our anniversary — although we didn’t tell them so may have made a difference. We sat at the bar because we like dining at bars. Bartender was very nice but first course pasta was cold, and entree chicken was underdone, which took a long time to get and they also forgot our sides. Fingerling potatoes were amazing though.
*Very uneven experience
*Server gave a bad vibe from the time we sat down
*Forgot to put in appetizer order yet never mentioned it
*Not attentive at all
*Food was ok-not fabulous
*Kitchen seemed to be backed up all night
*Very disappointing
I have had numerous lovely meals at Twisted Oak, this was likely an aberration but for a 5:30 reservation, dinner wasn’t served until 6:50. No explanation, just 30 min of “it’s almost ready” and no food. It was a very frustrating experience and the food arrived luke warm and tiny portions. Too hungry to send it back but we won’t be back.
Went to Twisted Oak for restaurant week with a group of friends. It was on my list to try and I was not disappointed at all. Both the food and service was excellent. I would definitely go back and recommend it to all my friends.
The Hostess was rude! The manager then cam over and supported her rudeness!
A coworker and I went to celebrate her birthday and it happened to be restaurant week. Food was excellent as always!
We had 5:30 reservations bc we were going to the Tarrytown Music Hall. The restaurant opened at 5:15 so we were one of the first customers. We did not receive our appetizers until almost 6:30 and when the waiter brought over the crab & quinoa risotto he notified us that there was no crab available and it was left out of the dish. It’s my understanding this is a farm to table restaurant and the menu changes daily. We were one of the first customers therefore the menu shouldn’t have included this dish and the waiter should have notified us prior to serving it. The entrees were very tasty but the portions were very small and we did leave hungry. The entrees were very pricey for the quantity. We dine out often so we are more than happy to pay for good food, service etc.
Kudos to the Bar tender and the Libations. They were the highlight. Even though this was brunch, the pace was slow. Full round of drinks were consumed before the order was taken. Shushito (sp) peppers were good as was the chicken sandwich. The Rueben was more like roast beef in color and texture and the Poutine was lacking. The omelet was also not memorable. Had to ask for the check and then ask for it to be taken. They are on the right track but need to tighten up service and pay attention to the details.
Nice restaurant---need to improve their customer service. They also--ran out of too many entrees by our 7:15PM dinner reservation--this shouldn't happen this early in the evening on a Saturday night
Great food and wine. Small cozy restaurant. Farm fresh ingredients. Unique wine list.
Our favorite restaurant in Westchester. Great food, great atmosphere, and great service!
The service was slow, the food came out Luke warm, the place was noisy, and the portions were tiny. I ordered scallops and I got two scallops. It was also very expensive for the size of the portions. The food, aside from not being hot was very delicious, but I do not believe it was worth the price. We had been there a couple of years ago and liked it very much so I don’t understand the change in the restaurant.
Made a reservation for dinner before concert. Next time will make it our only event. Dinner delicious.
Love this place every time we go. So good!
Had several dishes from the menu and loved every one.
Farm to Table high value, tasty dining. Great service and attention to detail. Well done!
They were out of 50% of the entrees and a few appetizers. What we had was excellent.
The food really was exceptional. The waiter was nice but the hostess was quite rude.
when we began the meal many people told the girl that seated us that it was very cold in the restaurant. Everyone was eating with their coats on which was not very comfortable. Our waiter forgot to put our drink order in so we sat for quite awhile waiting. Then we ate our dinner and when the waiter came over at the end of the meal we very nicely told him how uncomfortable we were being so cold. He didn’t ask if we wanted dessert and threw the check on the table. Totally unacceptable behavior. I have never done this in my life but he didn’t get a very good tip. He then went over to the bar and apparently told everyone and they all turned and stared at us! Very poor behavior all around. I will never go back there again
The hostess was rude and the restaurant was freezing with the A/C on. Everyone in the restaurant had their coats on while dining, yet despite being asked at least 3 times to turn off the cold air, it was never done. The food was great but I couldn’t get out of there fast enough. The hostess had a bad attitude.
100% will be coming back soon. One of the best dinners we’ve ever had. Our server was great and the food was outstanding.
The food is fabulous and the presentation is also very good. The servers are very nice, but the service overall is quite slow. We skipped desert because of timing which is a missed opportunity for the restaurant. Also it was odd that we couldn't order an appetizer while we waited for friends and decided on main courses - they only wanted the entire order all at once so we skipped the appetizer all together. Dinner was delicious but super slow.
We dine here every so often and I thought an update was well overdue. The Twisted Oak is one of our favorite restaurants in the Rivertowns and last weeks dinner reinforced that opinion. The food and drinks were excellent, the atmosphere charming, and the service impeccable.
My wife and I shared the baby lettuce salad, the fried chicken, and the (deconstructed) raspberry shortcake - all were quite delicious. As you might guess from our decision to share the portions are HUGE - I strongly recommend sharing plates. For fall they had a new drink on the menu made from fresh Concord grapes which my wife adored.
As I said the atmosphere is charming and even borderline romantic. We prefer the front room, YMMV. Our server, Cory, was wonderful...and extremely helpful. He got me the exact drink I wanted - ice water with just a splash of fresh grapefruit juice (since I wasn't drinking that evening). All in all, another magical night at the Oak.
My steak was wonderful, but others in our party were disappointed with their meals. Our server was quite inattentive - we waited for quite some time to be greeted by our server. We waited for quite some time for the first drinks we ordered. At one point, after our server repeatedly failed to return to our table or even glance our way, I got up to get water for myself at the bar.
Maybe our group of 6 was unusual for this restaurant? After all, I was called twice during the day to make sure we were still planning to arrive.
This was my third time dining here, first time was great, second time was okay and the last time will be just that, the last time. Arrived at the restaurant at 6pm and ordered apps which didn't arrive until 7:10PM! Service was slow, food was fair....not impressed unfortunately.
I was very excited to try Twisted Oak which was highly recommended by my daughter. My friend and I arrived about two, the restaurant was not very crowed. We ordered a glass of wine while we looked at the brunch menu. The women who lead us to our seats came over to see if we had any questions and after she rudely answered my questions said she could take our orders. We both ordered a polenta as a starter and we ordered French toast and a Reuben for our main courses. We waited at least 30 minutes and no food. We flagged down the waiter to ask if our orders were submitted he said yes. Ten minutes latter our starter and main course arrived together. I refused my polenta while my friend agreed to keep it. No explanation or apology for the long wait and everything arriving at one time. the polenta was cold and so was the Reuben. The waiter never came to ask if everything was OK or if we wanted another glass of wine. We again flagged the waiter down to ask for coffee. I don’t know if there was any dessert but none was offered.
Another issues were the nats flying around our table through the entire meal . We mentioned it to the waiter who responded they come in from outdoors. There were too many for that to be the case we used the ladies room which also had a number of nats.
While the food was good most of it was cold. The service was the worst I‘ve seen. What a bad experience.
Food was delicious as always. Best chickpeas and meatballs.
What a fabulous place! The grapefruit Kale salad is a must. The service was lovely and i could easily hear my companion throughout our meal. highly recommended.
Great food & great service. Our first time here but it will definitely be on our go to list. So nice to have fine dining choice like this one without feeling like we need to head to the city. Started with parpadelle pasta with sausage in a flavorful creamy sauce. Hubby enjoyed his duck dinner & fried chicken with polenta was definitely worth the calories! Even took half home to enjoy the next day. Updated version of strawberry shortcake was enough for the both of us as the amaro (from Montenegro) was indeed a lovely nightcap. Would highly recommend especially for special occasion. One final thought... some of the music just did not match overall ambience of place... just sayin'.
Pretty room. Delicious bread with cheese. Best kale salad ever. How did they get it so fine? Great salmon and fried chicken. Perfect meringue on lemon meringue pie.
