Our accomplished Head Chef and his team produce delicious, seasonal dishes with a big focus on locally sourced produce.
The Talbot Ripley"s menus feature imaginative modern British a la carte dishes, as well as traditional classics and seafood specialities. For those with a sweet tooth we have an array of mouth-watering puddings that are quite simply, to die for!
We have a choice of areas in which you can dine, from our cosy bar with its 15th Century beams and open log fires to our restaurant which features a stunning copper ceiling and glass wall overlooking the Summer terrace and garden.
First time to the Talbot Inn - went with a friend for a light snack - we were very impressed with the service and quality of food. Will definitely go again.
The food was fabulous but the service was atrocious unfortunately. Everything was wrong- wrong wine brought over, kids meal forgotten, bread took too long to arrive. Lots of staff stood around folding napkins - constantly having to wave for attention. Dishonesty with kids meal being forgotten which was frustrating. As a result my daughter ate a whole breadbasket while waiting and none of her lunch! Shame as it’s a lovely setting and the food was great
Had a successful evening at Talbot with good food,well cooked at reasonable prices and had a complimentary glass of wine each.The decor is tasteful and smart with a striking copper ceiling combining modern touch’s with the old pub and coaching house.It was quiet enough to talk easily but still convivial enough to have be social.I would recommend it
Wife’s birthday and her steak (£23) was like rubber. They were very apologetic and removed the cost and the cost of the replacement from the bill. It’s a great location and a nice set up but I won’t be back given the other quality options in the area.
Food as always very good at the Talbot and very quiet on Saturday afternoon; apart from another loud table but that's Surrey!
Food, service & ambiance good, checked on web site before booking & had sea bass listed, but unable to get sea bass on the night, which was a little disappointing, no white fish available, which I would have expected. Had salmon instead, which was superb
Had the pate and beef Cheeks, cooked really well but thought it was lacking in flavour. However the cooked breakfast was lovely.
Bed was a bit soft.
Wouldn’t put me off staying there again though
Second visit - also good. We were later arriving so one or two cooked items not available as was very busy breakfast. Overall was a lovely experience. We had a babe in a pushchair and two year old who were very happy too. Very nicely seated.
Would definitely return in future

We booked a table for 3 the week before Christmas to take my Mother out for a nice lunch. We were not disappointed the food and service were great. It was pretty manic as there were large tables because it was Christmas but we were not forgotten and given great attention. There was a great choice of starters and deserts around a 4 meat Christmas carvery option which was lovely. Will definitely return again outside of the Christmas period.
Good food in a lovely calm and relaxed atmosphere. Staff were friendly and helpful although service took a little longer than expected. Another enjoyable night at the Talbot overall
Friendly staff and attractive surroundings. Food was good although slightly limited because it was a Sunday buffet. Generally a successful outing for a mixed generation party
Had not been to Talbot for a few years. Was very disappointed. Dirty menus. Floors unswept and glass windows filthy. We left before ordering any lunch. We were the only customers there at 12:30 on a Friday. Not a good sign at all.
A very average experience in a lovely venue. It was quiet since there was only one other couple! Says a lot about a place when it is so empty.
Next time we will go back to The Onslow Arms in W. Clandon - go check it out for what you should be doing! No comparison. Will you want to put this in your reviews....?
Food was good however my main course was not value for money. Attentive staff. Very quiet midweek. Lovely outdoor seating for good weather days.
Service very very poor, we ordered drinks that never came also.
we didnt know wht to expect for our evening meal. We sat in the lovely conservatory over looking the garden. it was very relaxing and you were not made to feel you had to be rushed. We had the goats cheese and walnut for a starter. It was beautifully presented. Our mains my husband had the fish with triple cooked chips and mushy peas, I had the chicken with chips and salad. Dessert i had the strawberry cheesecake and my husband had the chocolate brownie. It cost about £55. very reasonable and we would highly recommend
It was reasonable but no more. I think the waitress was new to the role so I made allowances for the number of times we were asked if everything was ok -and the fact my lunch also sat left the plate for the table when it was served.
The beetroot and goats cheese starter was nice. The chicken lunch dish was breadcrumbed and dry. It needed something to minimise that.
No offer of ice for the bottled table water - on a hot day.
A small issue with card payment - but it was sorted. Overall an OK lunch.
Lovely historical place with very good service and food along with atmosphere
Over all we had a very comfortable stay, downside room 106 the bathroom needs updating, although it is advertised as a disabled, the shower is unsafe to adjust, the Rose kept falling down, and the room was not made up after a day out, was not happy.
Tasty food served by friendly and efficient staff. Good wine list and choice of meals in a very pleasant dining environment.
This visit was thoroughly enjoyable for a lunchoen with a close relative, convenient to both of us between Amersham in Buckinghanshire and Aldwick in West Sussex.
We were so lucky to pick a good day when we could eat out on the patio in comfort.
Food was excellent and a service to match, attentive but not 'in your face'.

Lovely restaurant with nice garden to the rear. Service was really friendly the food was very good. I would return again for sure
Food - not impressed. First course : 1 - OK 2 - soup bowl of rocket leaves and quinoa with thin piece of overcooked hallumi on top.
Second course: 1 - Sea Bass on top of plate of cold, uncooked cauliflower couscous and burnt slice of yet more cauliflower. 2 - Soup bowl of liver and bacon with mash. Why in a soup bowl? Sweet potato fries were very good!
Dessert: 1 - Chocolate brownie very nice 2 - lemon posset drowned out by raspberry coulis.
Our table faced a flower bed full of weeds and unsightly wires hanging off the wall. Not a good look.
Food and decor were both excellent although service was a little inattentive and inexperienced. There was a wedding in one of the larger spaces and it felt that event was taking priority. Would certainly give it another go to see if my theory was correct.

Great service, the 'main man' was an inspiration, leading his staff from the front with an enthusiasm seldom seen these days. Nothing to much trouble and made you feel a special and valued customer.
The service was incredibly slow and not very attentive, seeing as they were not even very busy/full. I have been there before and it was really nice but not this time. The food was ok but it took a long time and it wasn’t that great this time. The toilets were disgustingly I had to report issues. I would expect them to check their toilets at least once during the evening.
Manager is rude, simple as that. We won’t be back.
menu ambitious but good though could be better in expanation lamb should be cooked underdone wine list good too several tables specially outside still not clered from evening before or breakfast cutlery being polished from prevoius service being polished a little bit annnoying and noisy staff attentive and pleasant
A comfortable dining space in the conservatory and not too busy on a Thursday lunchtime. The staff were attentive but not intrusive and we were delighted with our food and wine choices.
The food was generally nice and fair value. However, the service was pretty bad and they seemed unable to cope with the few diners that were in.
We didn't get to order for half an hour and we heard the restaurant staff loudly talking about how they shouldn't send any more orders for food until they had cleared and served the next course to a big table. We had to chase for our drinks, water and the nibbles we ordered.
Most courses were ok (nothing to rave about). Two let-downs were the crackling sticks (tough and inedible) and the brownie which was bland and too rich with the sauce. We pointed out the crackling was inedible and the waiter agreed but they still charged us for it...
If you aren't in a rush and are looking for a good value meal then go for it. If you get upset by poor service or are in a rush then maybe try somewhere else.
An excellent choice, so pleased I booked! The garden room was very pretty.

Enjoyed our first experience
WE HAD DINNER WITH TWO FRIENDS OF OURS, ON A FRIDAY EVENING IN APRIL.
THE AMBIANCE WAS VERY PLEASANT IN THE RESTAURANT, WITH A NICE VIEW OUT TO THE BACK GARDEN. IT WAS FAIRLY BUSY, BUT STILL QUIET ENOUGH TO CONVERSE EASILY WITH OUR FRIENDS. THE SERVICE WAS VERY GOOD AND WELL PACED. THE STAFF WERE VERY PLEASANT AND HELPFUL. THE FOOD WAS VERY GOOD AND WE THOROUGHLY ENJOYED OUR MEAL.
WE'LL DEFINITELY BE BACK AND WOULD HAPPILY RECOMMEND THE TALBOT TO ANYONE.
ONE OF OUR DESSERT ORDERS WAS FORGOTTEN INITIALLY, BUT THIS WAS VERY QUICKLY AND APOLOGETICALLY RECTIFIED. WE DIDN'T ASK FOR COMPENSATION OR A DISCOUNT, AS THE ISSUE WAS DEALT WITH SO QUICKLY AND WELL. HOWEVER, WE WERE NOT CHARGED FOR THE LATE DESSERT, OR OUR COFFEES. EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE !
Both starter and main course ordered by my wife had to be sent back as chef left off the bacon crumbs from the scallop starter and the pine nuts from the linguini.
My "Cumberland " sausages were dried out supermarket pork sausages.
The Hogs Back Tea bitter was excellent.
Absolutely delicious butternut squash risotto! Followed by extremely scummy sticky toffee pudding. Great portion sizes and lovely garden view.
