Food was cold. Despite asking for decaf the waiter poured what I believe was not decaf coffee because he then filled other cups with the same coffee. Very disappointing.
Service very rushed but she slowed down once we mentioned it. Entree came out when half way through appetizers. Food was delicious.
Outstanding but terribly noisy!
Really good food and very good service but very hard to have a conversation over the din of all over diners. Very noisy. A shame really.
Good cost performance‼︎
However a little noisy...
Super accommodating and careful re: my no gluten diet. The server was attentive and even brought over the manger to discuss what was safe for me to eat. Food was outstanding and vibe super cool.
Prepared for noise level but they did best to accommodate to quieter seating
Like variety of menu
Service very good
I was there for a business lunch. Ambiance and decor was perfect. Environment was perfect for a meeting. Table and space between tables was great as they were able to grant my request of good table for a meeting. Food was also very good. Moderate portion sizes were appropriate and price was expected being in Manhattan.
Comfort food with good sized portions in a very loud setting. Not inexpensive
Warm welcome and fast seating. Service was a little mistimed with some dishes arriving not in sync. Waiting service was on point and friendly. Decor and atmosphere was friendly.
It took almost a 1/2 hour to be seated despite having a reservation. The noise level in the main dining area was very high. The mitigating benefit was excellent food.
My food was burnt.
The Smith Midtown is our go to weekend brunch spot. Always consistent, always delicious, never disappoints.
They honor Open Table Reservations even though many people are waiting. Front desk girls very friendly. Today our server seemed to hate. his. job. But the order was correct and each guest received the proper plate without asking so that’s a big plus.
I ordered a peach Bellini and I’ve had much better ones at other places. If we were going for a boozy brunch we’d choose somewhere else. But we will continue to use The Smith as our go to spot otherwise.
Large party (10ppl) bunch was great. Friendly, accommodating staff (we had two grandparents in walkers) and solid service. Food was solid, served hot and accurate...had a couple persnickety food orders. Our 3rd time at the Smith, 1st at this location and its always fun. Will go back for sure.
Enjoy The Smith - good value for New York where everything is expansive! Spaghetti Meatballs on a Sunday were great!
Always good food at The Smith. The consistency of the food and the quality of the service is the key, imo. I had the shrimp cocktail, which was excellent! My husband RAVED about the calamari! The skirt steak and eggs were great. Drinks always good, just the way I like them! The best thing about this visit was the hostess Jenny who remembered me from a previous visit and Felix, our waiter, who was a pleasure. I love that the staff is there long-term. It says a lot about the management. They have gotten good service down to a science, something which I find rarely nowadays! Def will be back.
Fun environment with incredible food. Huge servings, nicely presented with pleasant service. Will definitely be back!
The front desk staff and servers were remarkably rude. It seemed to almost be a directive from management to be dismissive of patrons. The food is good but after a couple different abrasive comments from restaurant employees I would not go back.
The food was tasty. The place is super loud.
Had a great Sat brunch. Food and cocktails were yummy. Mac and cheese to die for. A little noisy because so popular, it was packed at 11am. Make a Rez!
My party of 8 had a reservation made 5 days prior to the lunch date. However, upon arrival we were told that it would be a few minutes to be seated. The wait was 15 minutes.
Food it’s always testy I which they had a quieter rooms
Food and service were excellent. They put us at a deuce when we had 3 people. They were busy so it is understandable. It has an energetic vibe, but with all the hard surfaces the loud voices bounced around a lot making it noisy overall. Good location for groups to meet, not so much for a romantic dinner.
Lively venue with very enjoyable food. The acoustics aren’t great so we had to shout at each other.
Very Good spaghetti and meatballs-Made with teal and beef and a great marinara sauce ( yummy and get extra sauce)Sunday night special - and a terrific kale and quinoa salad, and a killer old fashion! To Gideon
Booked for Sunday brunch first morning in NYC. Arrived early but quickly shown to our table. Food was very good although $24 for short rib hash seemed expensive. Bloody Mary’s were strong but most enjoyable! Overall, a very good experience in a very popular restaurant. Service was quick and efficient. Booking essential especially at the weekend.
Food was excellent - unique and delicious. Service was lacking. Server made it clear that he wanted to turn the table over before we even ordered, but also was not very attentive to basic things that ultimately delayed our meal. Not served butter or syrup with waffle dishes, asked for coffee two times. We had to flag him down with each request, because he didn’t come back to the table to ask if we needed anything after runners delivered food. Other servers weren’t interested in helping us either when we couldn’t find ours.
Food, ambiance and service excellent just a little loud
Fantastic food, service and cocktails. Loved everything about this place. Casual yet classy. Will definitely go back next time we are in town.
Was supposed to be a 70th birthday celebration and the staff fell 100% flat. No acknowledgement, no dessert, not even a happy birthday to our mother. Big disappointment on service. Food was good as usual, but even when I reminded them that it was a birthday at the end I received a blank stare and a "what now" attitude. No longer my go-to place for birthdays or celebrations.
Food was delicious and there was a variety to choose from. Waiter was attentive but the noise level was crazy! The waiter came over to let us know the specials and he was standing right next to me and I had to ask multiple times what he just said.
Every dish was better then the next one!!
Six of us visiting NYC and thought we would try The Smith. Although we had a reservation we waited ~15 min. Not a problem but when you have a reservation you would think you would get seated within 5 minutes of arrival. The real problem with the experience was the noise level. It was so loud our server could hear what we were ordering and we couldn’t hear her. Wrong orders came because of it. We could speak to the person directly in front of us without yelling and asking them to repeat themselves. Food was good overall and service was fairly quick. But the noise level ruined the experience for us and when you are visiting NYC you want a memorable experience.
The Smith is always reliable. Great for taking guests from out of town. There's something for everyone on the menu. It is busy enough to feel like you've "gone out" somewhere but not obnoxiously loud or crowded.
Great service, very attentive server, Cesar. Delicious seafood dishes. We had the mussels bowl and the salmon. Light sauces with delicate herbal flavor. Cozy table. Recommend.
Hostess was disgustingly rude in front of my kids on multiple occasions. Only reason we stayed was because the server was friendly and I didn’t want to make a big deal of things in front of my kids. But thoroughly unacceptable.
Note: This place survives off of the neighborhood, and we all talk to each other. There are plenty of options along that block. Not cool.
P.S. I’m also a Chef - so yeah. I have a different level of tolerance for this sort of thing and even still .... unbearable. Just plain sad and an awful way to disrupt an otherwise beautiful Friday afternoon.
Photo is of the receipt from the last meal we’ll ever have there.
If you enjoy being around the "it" crowd, The Smith is definitely the place for you. The food and cocktails are great. The noise level could be dialed back a notch, but exactly what to expect from a popular place. The food scene in this area has picked up quite a bit in the last several years and this is definitely a place to go to have a good time and enjoy yourself. Just expect to raise your voice to be heard. FYI - bathrooms are unisex stalls should that bother anyone. Bonus - there is a photo booth in the bathroom waiting area should you find yourself in line or simply in the mood for black and white to commemorate your evening.
Felt a little rushed ...
La comida exelente. El servicio muy bueno. El nivel de ruido es horrible. No podia escuchar a la persona que estaba enfrente mio. Nunca vi un lugar tan ruidoso
