Such a beautiful setting with very attentive, friendly staff. My friend and I came here for her 50th and it was just perfect, we felt special and spoilt. The food was delicious with tasty sandwiches and cakes in our afternoon tea with endless tea pots of tea on offer and an invitation to take our time and stay all day if we wanted. There was a raspberry on one cake that had travelled just a few meters from the garden in front of us.. loved that! There was a small wedding taking place, a 100th birthday and even a baby shower but it was peaceful and quiet and we would never had known if we didn’t look around. Our table was booked for 11:45 and after spending a couple of hours eating, drinking and talking we went off walking round the gardens and for a massage at the Secret Retreat round the corner . Before we decided to head home we went back and ordered another pot of tea, they were closing in half an hour but welcomed us back , then as we went to pay we were told as we had had an afternoon tea earlier we didn’t have to pay any more ?!? How lovely, what amazing customer service.
Beautiful surroundings with tasty food and a lovely atmosphere. The service was outstanding.
Perfect setting, perfect food, perfect staff!! Could not have asked for anything more! What a wonderful place to go!! Loved it!!!
I’d recommend the Afternoon Tea For a special occasion as it is fairly expensive but there was ample for our party of four and they brought extra cream and jam when asked. Attentive service and if you can sit outside, you can see the lovely garden.
A lovely afternoon tea in the garden for my mums 80th, with a freshly baked savoury selection and scones as well as a great cake selection. Delicious!
We had such a lovely afternoon! It really is the best afternoon tea around if you live in Kent.
Amazing food, excellent service and beautiful surroundings
We had a lovely time. The experience was faultless. Attentive staff, gorgeous food, endless pots of tea, all in a beautiful setting. Will definitely return.
Absolutely lovely afternoon tea , second to Fortnums in my opinion . Great service and great selection of items on offer and able to take away what you cant eat as so much supplied . Will be back . Thank you team Secret garden .
We enjoyed our visit and will return. Good service, lovely food and wonderful peaceful location.
A beautiful setting with excellent service and delicious afternoon tea
All of the staff are amazing and we were very well looked after. They clearly know what they are doing and make everyone feel welcome.
Excellent venue and wonderful afternoon tea.
Was given small boxes afterwards to take home anything that we couldn’t eat.
Will definitely go back.
Excellent service and delicious afternoon tea. I would highly recommend this venue.
The wife and i had this booked over a year ago but due to ill health we gave it to my son and his partner and they loved it. As soon as lockdown had lowered I booked it for the 2 of us once more and the wait was well worth it. We had the Traditional afternoon tea and the next time and there will be a next time we will have the savoury option as the Sausage rolls and cheese sticks are to die for. The staff were absolutely brilliant on the ball. Also the Rhubarb cocktail was gorgeous. My wife has been to the Savoy and the Ritz plus quite a few more in the Kent area and her words were that this was as good as the Savoy and the Ritz the best in Kent for sure.
We had the afternoon tea, sat indoors as it was rather wet, everyone out doors had to come in. Can’t help the weather.
We had a lovely afternoon tea, everything was really well made and tasty, the service was excellent attentive but not intrusive - we would definitely come back again
Lovely place and did very well with a gluten free option
Superb service and food as always at The Secret Garden.
We had the afternoon tea for 3. The sandwiches were great if not a bit sparse, 1 rectangle of 2 types. However, we thought the rolls that the egg was on was very dry and hard. The emphasis was heavy on the scones, 6 between 3 people but with only 2 small pots of jam and 1 of cream and we had to ask for more to cover the scones.
We have been to many establishments for afternoon tea, including the Ritz and here earlier in the year but on this occasion did not feel it was worth the £26 per person, more of a £15 , a shame really as it was my mothers birthday.
Going on the food today we would not recommend
Open table online was easy to book a date & time.
Services was good and helpful.
Ahearing to the to space around us with at least a table between.
Only the cost of the cream tea and few sandwiches was a little over priced.
Just under 100 pounds for four people.
Highly recommend the Secret Garden. Beautiful setting, tastefully decorated and furnished. Lovely atmosphere, staff friendly and attentive but not intrusive. Food delicious and plentiful. Perfect!
Had a lovely afternoon. Will definitely return bring up my mum.
Absolutely loved the afternoon tea, would highly recommend.
Really enjoyed the afternoon tea we had at the Secret Garden, the service was amazing and the food was lovely (better than the afternoon tea I have had at the Ritz!)
It was such a lovely sunny day and they let us pick raspberries in the garden afterwards, would highly recommend.
Beautiful surroundings, service was a high standard. Waiter was kind to my elderly grandmother doing all he could to make sure she was comfortable and settled, perfect
Always excellent food and service. Never been disappointed
Great food, good service, lovely location Would recommend
I had the afternoon tea, everything was absolutely fantastic and the staff are so welcoming and friendly and the place itself is beautiful. Highly recommended.
We had afternoon tea at 11.00am - perfect. In fact this is the second Saturday running we have been. Too much to eat all at once but we were offered a box to take home anything we couldn’t manage. Will definitely be going again 😍as every morsel was delicious - thank you!!
Rather overpriced afternoon tea experience. The starter is a rather disappointing portion of gazpacho soup in a tea cup. The follow up selection of cakes is also very limited and does not actually include any “cakes”. The cake platter primarily consists of dry scones, chocolate fudge slices, sandwiches with tasteless fillings and small bizet cakes. Overall, the experience and the served food does not merit a £25 per person price tag. Such overpriced offering constitutes robbery in broad day light for the extremely limited and poor variety of food that you get.
We had an afternoon tea celebrating a name day. The staff was very attentive and polite! The food was delicious. We felt like we were well looked after.
This is our 4th visit to the secret garden and was as fabulous as ever. The afternoon tea is homemade and delicious and the staff were very welcoming and observed all the social distancing required. One of our party was a little nervous as they had been isolated and had never been before, but she felt completely at ease and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
This is definitely the place to go for that lovely afternoon tea or lunches, but don’t tell everyone as it’s a secret😏
100% recommend and hopefully be back in the future!
Thank you so much for a lovely day :)
Absolutely beautiful venue. The decor and ambience are lovely and the staff could not be any more friendlier. We had afternoon which was delicious with lots of choice. I highly recommend and look forward to visiting again soon.
Outstanding in every area we have been coming here since it opened
we ordered our food prior to arriving yet had to wait over 35mins for both the tradional and savoury cream teas to be served. Table booked for 6, yet only 5 chairs. Old books were on the table containing drinks menus, as these are handled by some many people not ideal as can not be cleaned especially with the resent health scares. Strings of small LED lights hanging badly and added nothing to the place, looked more like they had be left since xmas. Some of the food was not cooked although not completely raw. Salmon was very salty. Not a lot of filling in sandwiches unlike the egg mayo which was on show, sitting on which seemed like a partly cooked blinis. Chicken bone found in a chicken sandwich. On the tradional teas all the cakes were all very sweet resulting you could not eat much. Tea was tea bags, while under the previous owner ship was leafed tea adding to the cream tea experience. We were not asked if we would like any further tea or coffee, we had to let them know if we did....that was the only time we were approached . Expected better service than that. Been there before but l think under new management.
All the above were mentioned to the manageress on paying bill, which she did not like going by her face. I was told the chicken is cooked on premises and taken apart there so better care should of been taken that no bones were left in sandwich. We all felt the service and food needed improving. Plus the clothes both the management and waitress staff were wearing were very untidy, looked like they were thrown on their backs. Could not believe how low this restaurant has reached.
Lovely chocolate afternoon tea, cosy warm and friendly efficient service from start to finish. Food was great enough to even take some home
Lovely place and food with welcoming people and beautiful surroundings
