The Saddle Room at the Shelbourne Hotel
Initially placed at a table with nobody around us, felt like being in a corridor. We asked to move closer to others for some atmosphere and we were moved to a new table which was much better.
Food was nice, but very expensive vs. other restaurants.
Overall the decor including the toilets were quite dated.
It felt like a hotel restaurant but charges 2* Michelin prices.
The service was amazing it was my first time there and really enjoyed ourselves
Service very poor. Very slow & inconsistent: Too long a wait between starters & main courses. Mains courses for the 2 male diners came first & we had to wait several minutes for the ladies food. One of the men ordered mash with his steak & this did not come until he had eaten approx 50% of his meal.
We did not have desert or coffee as service was so slow.
Also monkfish was on menu but was not available & no other alternative in its place.
The couple at the table beside us also had problems with service & we could hear them complaining .
Service was excellent we had a lovely bubbly waitress.
They do 3 courses for €50 with sides extra which is great value.
Little disappointed that as part of my booking I requested a happy birthday dessert message and it never happened.
Great place for quiet elegant dinner
Been eating in the Saddle Room regularly since the 80s - completely different place now but wonderful place to enjoy a good meal and great service with some good company- a must for a wonderful experience
Beautiful food, great service, value for the three course meal was excellent however a charge of €8 for a bottle of still water and €12 for two small American's was a but steep.
Excellent location for business meetings- privacy with excellent service
Your staff and customer experience were excellent! We were delayed for our lunch booking but your staff pulled out all the stops to ensure the kitchen remained open beyond normal lunch serving time and gave us an experience to remember!
Food was fab with very generous portions
Great evening, perfect to celebrate a 93 year old's birthday. Staff were so helpful and welcoming.
Had dinner for the second time in two weeks here. It is a very busy restaurant on the weekends with lots of local family gatherings and hotel guests. Food is well prepared and fresh with good service.
Our experience at The Shelbourne on Saturday evening was first class. From the greeting in reception through the service and payment we received the utmost warmth, courtesy and welcome.
The menu was extensive and excellently explained.
The food was delicious, served swiftly. We had constant service throughout our evening.
As I am a Coeliac I felt that the choices were very restricted for me. I must say that waiter Ali was very attentive to my Gluten free requests. I respectfully suggest that in planning your individual dishes you might give more consideration to having Gluten Free options e.g. a different sauce or omit the sauce etc. This is very common now with most good restaurants. Otherwise the meal was lovely.
Will definitely go back and try some of the other dishes on the menu. The food was perfectly cooked and exactly how we had requested it. Portion sizes were just right. Really enjoyed our evening in the Saddle Room
Delicious food, great service, beautiful room. Food lost 1 star as portion was a bit small and...had to order sides to get veg with the food.
What an amazing place for Saturday night. We were seated at the entrance to the restaurant and we were overlooking the open kitchen. It was so great to see the chefs in action. Service was amazing and the food was delicious. We only stayed for an hour or so as we had tickets for the show but we will definitely be back for celebrations and spend more time. Well done!
Stunning restaurant, delicious food, excellent service
What a disastrous experience dining in The Saddle Room. One hour waiting on this first course - which was the simplest of all - soup. Thirty Five minutes waiting on the second course, 30 minutes waiting on dessert. 3 X persons dining. Two meals were only OK and the portions were tiny !!!! and I mean tiny. The third meal - was a total disaster - it arrived on the plate in a non descriptive condition buried in a tasteless sauce - I simply couldn't finish it - in fact I should not have started it - I felt hungry afterwards. We decided that after such a long waiting period, complaining would be futile - we left the Restaurant - fully paying the bill with a simple plan of never returning. Five Star Restaurant - certainly not. Our experience left us in doubt as to the continuing success of this Restaurant, which, incidentally for a Friday was less than 50% occupied. Sorry, but these are the facts.
Unfortunately we were overcharged and we are still waiting for a refund.
Not 5* at all. Food ok but service ok but a bit slow when asked for additional food eg. sauce for meat etc. Also, I really don’t want to be sitting where I can hear the head chef tell (presumably) new members of staff that they aren’t trained and that they should be...
Visiting from Australia & it was a wonderful way to finish our trip.
Excellent service. Our waiter was first class. His knowledge of the menu and recommendations were spot on. Superb surroundings. Relaxed atmosphere
Delicious food. Great choice.
We had a delightful evening. No rush.
The starter and desert were ok but the main course was inedible due to the level of salt in the sauce that covered the fish. The service in the restaurant was good but the service in the bar(s) was terrible... we ended up having one drink before leaving... between the unwelcoming treatment from the bar staff and the disappointing meal I’d struggle to recommend eating or staying here again
Exceeded our high expectations!!!
Superb food and service in a perfect setting.
Best pre theatre meal we have ever had!
I thought staff & ambience were great but food was only ok
Professional staff, appropriate ambiance, delicious food accompanied with good wine. A wonderful experience.
Everything absolutely amazing from start to finish!
The Service is unequalled in Dublin. Food is delicious, excellent menu. I intend to make here a regular spot to dine. The courtesy exhibited by the staff make the experience of The Saddle Room an encounter one will relish.
I have eaten here a number of times and service is always great. The food was excellent as it usually is. Building and restaurant are wonderful. When you weigh everthing up it's a great experience and very good value.
Excellent service and food. Wine was overpriced €14 for a glass!!!!
An excellent restaurant in the heart of the city. Never disappoints
Excellent Food, Service and value for money for Sunday Lunch
Fantastic service and great food celebrating our 15th wedding anniversary for the 5th year in The Saddle Room. Lorna and Aoife excellent hostesses. Infact all the staff. We will be back next year or maybe before. Thank you all. Kindest Regards Caroleanne and Tom Murphy. Killiney. 086/3701252
It was a special night for us, my 40th birthday & we also had gotten a gift voucher as a wedding present. The evening was so relaxed and the food was fantastic. Highly recommend it.
Very nice staff, very good food. 100% recommended, will return
Lovely experience from start to finish. Attentive waiting staff without being intrusive. All our questions regarding food and drink answered in a professional polite manner. Relaxing evening, not rushed or left waiting. An evening to remember and to be repeated. Thank you to all the staff who contributed to our enjoyment of the night.
Early bird menu is good value for the quality of the food and service received. Always excellent. Only gripe is that side orders are pricey. Limited choice on menu if you have fussy eaters but there were none at our table so all good! Have been plenty of times before and will continue to go in future. Also the terrace bar is a great addition for the summer months! Addition of non alcoholic drinks would be added bonus.
Really enjoyable day in the Saddle room for Sunday lunch.
All 3 courses were lovely.
Market fish of day was plaice and it was very tasty however the portion was extremely small but other than that the food was excellent.
Service was brilliant, waitress and waiters were so attentive and friendly.
It was a birthday meal for 2 people in our party and the Shelbourne provided lovely birthday treat plates with candles after our meal and also sang happy birthday - a lovely touch!!
We also had a 7 week old baby with us and there was lots of room beside our table to place her pram without feeling in the way, very accommodating.
Overall fabulous afternoon, excellent food and drinks, great atmosphere and ambiance.
Our 49th anniversary, staff excellent service excellent we were treated like a king and queen.
