The Queens Head Fyfield
Saturday: 11.00am to 11.00pm
Sunday: Midday to 10.30pm
Beautiful food and great value!
Great Food in comfortable surroundings. Staff were attentive. Had Sunday lunch which whilst excellent, perhaps a touch over priced. That is my only criticism and certainly won't detract us from returning to try the a la carte menu. Had a thoroughly enjoyable experience
Excellent as usual, very
Lucky to have this as our local!
This was our first visit by recommendation and we were not disappointed. The service was exemplary and we were made to feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Food always tastes better when the service is good and both the waiter and waitress were attentive. On saying that the food was good, well presented and served hot on hot plates.
We will definitely return.
We visit a couple of times a year and have never had a bad meal, the staff are always polite and it is always nice to see local people still using their local pub just for a drink! Long may it continue
I booked a table for 4 on Thursday evening, the table was good position, the waitress was excellent, friendly and helpful without being overbearing.
Our meals were of high quality, the menu was well balanced and as you would we had to wait for the food to be freshly cooked, why people complain about waiting I will never understand.
The only thing I could fault was the standard/condition of the washroom.
In conclusion a first rate way to spend a Thursday evening,
Good food with excellent service in a very welcoming environment. Staff all extremely helpful and pleasant. A very enjoyable evening.
As usual the food was very good at the Queens Head and we were very happy with the quality, but unfortunately on this occasion the service let them down. On arrival we were shown to our table upstairs, we were then left there for 20 minutes before we called a waitress over from another table to order drinks. The waitress struggled to smile and made us feel like we were interrupting her day. She’s then had to send someone else to take our food order. We ordered bread for the table, which they completely forgot about and we had to chase them up, and when it arrived it was incredibly dry, as though it had been left out for a while (only food complaint)
Our plates were left with us empty for quite a while, and then after requesting the desert menu and waiting a further 20 minutes for it to arrive we decided to just get the bill instead. Overall we felt we were forgotten about and service was slow when they did notice us.
Unfortunate as we’ve always previously been happy with our experience here. Hoping this was just a bad day!
I have been a few times now and have always been seated upstairs so was very disappointed to be seated directly opposite the bar, which wasn’t the best place to sit when trying to chat and eat. The menu was a little sparse for choice which I never had a problem before. It was a shame as I was treating my husband for his birthday and he felt the same.
Wonderful food as ever, the evening not improved by the noisy lot at the bar!
We chose this restaurant on a friend's recommendation and we were not disappointed. The atmosphere was very friendly and inviting and the actual restaurant was cosy without tables being too close to each other. We were taking our family who were visiting from Yorkshire for Sunday lunch and were not disappointed with the amount of choice. The food was excellent, service was very attentive and quick and the whole experience was amazing. We would definitely recommend the Queen's Head to friends. We are going to go back on a different day to sample the extensive A La Carte menu.
The only complaint was the size of the car park - we had to park in the road outside which was fine but am guessing this can get pretty busy at times.
Love this restaurant but deserts a little disappointing and did not seem 'fresh'!
Main meal excellent - starters too.
Menu is not written well and difficult to understand. The deserts all needed to be explained in detail. The wording needs to be looked at on the menu and simplified.
In addition I would suggest the young waiting staff be supervised with a more experienced bar / waiting staff Manager. A few errors were made -girls were charming especially the very young girl and the local girl who wouldn't ride home on the back of the bike!
All in all the meal was a success and would defo recommend and return again.
Superb food. Would highly recommend . Will be booking again soon.
You amazing as ever the steak sandwich is to die for as are the truffle fries third time I have had it and it’s consistently fab
Lovely meal but felt it was quite expensive so maybe next time for a special occasion
Great food and drink - as always. We are so lucky it’s our local!
Amazing food and the most friendly, knowledgeable staff you could want! Will be going back for Christmas dinner with all my family!
The taste combinations of the food were divine with special reference to the crab tian starter and the fish cake main. Service was excellent as always
Excellent, as always. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this restaurant to anyone, couples, family, groups of friends it’s so welcoming and the food is fantastic!
When we first had dinner here about 3 years ago we thought it was excellent. However we feel it has gone down hill somewhat and the menu a little disappointing. Downstairs in the bar area was a little noisy for us so we headed upstairs which was fine. Service was a little slow but the serving staff polite and courteous.
We ate at this restaurant and it was the worst food both my friend and I had tasted in a long time. My friend had pie from asset menu- this looked like a pie bought in and heated up - not homemade. I had fishcake which was mainly potato and very little sauce. We were very disappointed.
Good food, reasonably priced. Very nice surroundings
Our first visit to this delightful pub, it won’t be our last. Food was excellent, well presented and good choice. Everything obviously cooked to order. The raspberry soufflé was gorgeous. Would certainly recommend a visit.
Great food and service
The Queens Head Fyfield, is a fantastic little restaurant, with a cosy, intimate feel. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and eager to help your enjoy a special evening out.
My wife and I had a really enjoyable night, away from the noise of the main high street chains, to this quaint little pub in a great setting. The restaurant inside is inviting and fresh, although managing to maintain a certain historical charm (open fireplace looks great for the winter). I would highly recommend you try the Queens head, who's menu certainly beats it's Michelin starred competitors for taste, comfort, and of course variety!
Lovely country pub in a pretty location. Friendly, warm staff and a good choice of dishes on offer.
Couldn't go wrong!
Very enjoyable experience. Staff very friendly and lovely food. We were late for booking due to traffic but was not a problem and we were made to feel relaxed and welcome when we arrived. Thank you
Lovely pub serving excellent food. Nice atmosphere. Good value for money.
Good food. Lovely location.
The food was delicious, scotch egg starter was especially good. Cod main was cooked perfectly but beware, it’s huge! The staff were very friendly but seemed busy
Had yet another lovely meal at the Queen's Head. Food and ambience was excellent, as usual.
Excellent as always!! One of our favourite food and drink spots
Wonderful restaurant serving exceptionally good food. Services was excellent and the ambience was cosy. The garden is very pretty and a great place to enjoy a drink before dinner. Certainly the best pub in the area!
Limited special menu, but good value and well presented and exceptional quality
Really excellent food as usual here - unusually prepared fillet steak was both interesting and tasty. Relaxed and friendly service.
Fantastic food, great for Sunday lunch. Very friendly staff, great service. Will most certainly be going back. Can’t wait.
One of the best Sunday lunches we have had in a long time. My husband had the king prawns as a starter which were really tasty, both our roast dinners were excellent and the sticky toffee pudding was to die for. We will definitely be back for more!
Excellent Sunday lunch again. Great atmosphere, wonderful staff - very friendly and accommodating. The pub has a lovely atmosphere and children are made to feel very welcome. Would highly recommend.
This time we came for my sons birthday and he his wife (together with their 4 week old baby and ourselves were made most welcome
The food was excellent and a good time was had by all of us
Our son lives in Epping we live in Chelmsford so it’s the perfect foodie eating place for us
