British countryside ingredients fill the menu, so tuck into country classics such as dry aged Ribeye steak in the wood-paneled pub or head upstairs to savour more gourmet plates like caramelised spit fire onion tart in their elegant first floor Dining Room. For an evening of true indulgence, the upstairs Club offers private dining with a distinct Victorian feel. A bespoke menu of your chosen plates or canapés can be arranged for special occasions.
There is an extensive wine list available on all floors which features a number of superb clarets by the glass.
Despite reservation, restaurant was closed!!!! No email or text was sent
There are two areas to eat - upstairs which is slightly more formal and downstairs that is more pub booth seating. We were downstairs, a bit noisier and cosier but also had a good atmosphere. Food was up market pub food but excellent food at reasonable prices for the quality. The manager that evening was very friendly and looked after us well. Wine list was decent, and you could have a reasonable range of draught / bottle beers from the bar. No hesitation in recommending this place.
Final day before a planned 2-week closure and menu changes as well. My comments, as a result, might not be valid going forward but in general, a good meal In the heart of Mayfair. History of the place tells lots of stories and quite a few best unspoken probably but for today's market, still good value-for-money with, in our case, fantastic service. Very tasty Sunday roast with all the right accompaniments.
Punchbowl was nothing like photos online as we were seated downstairs in pub. Would have been okay apart from a few noisy tables but not what we had expected looking at Opentable. The host was excellent and very friendly but we had to ask for set menu. Food was average and would not eat there again but great pub and landlord
Always one of our favourites
I have eaten in their dinning room twice before and love the food, the service and the decor of the dining room. This time on a Saturday night I found out that because they were so slow that their dining room was closed so I ate immediately off the main pub - if I wanted to eat at a pub I would have. The waiter was very nice but someone should have contacted me that their dining room would be closed. Very disappointed.
Sunday roast was fab!
We ate in the restaurant on the first floor. The menu offers a good choice at fair prices. Service was efficient and friendly. We enjoyed our meal. It was warm and though the windows were closed at one stage for a largeish party of Americans so that the air conditioning could cool us down - it did not seem to work ... and we got warmer. The background music would not have been my choice. We'll go again!
We came for the third time (in many occasions), and as usual it was a real pleasure to come.
It's definitely a pub that I recommend. I hope we'll have the opportunity to come again.
See you soon!
All three of us enjoyed our meal and wine recommendation. One lady looking after everyone...she did a great job.
brilliant lunch. great food, great service, unrushed...very relaxing environment and great aircon!
A very nice experience, highly recommend this establishment for a great pub style meal.
Fantastic lunch food great Fab Staff will visit again . Thank you
Food was very good. Service was also good. Resturant very quiet and bar but this was probably due to it being a bank holiday weekend.
Very warm welcome.
Would recommend the fish & chips!
Great skate special of the day too!
One of our favorite places... the food was terrific as were the drinks. The server was very helpful, knowledgeable about the menu and very nice.... all that and a reasonable price... what’s not to like... will definitely visit again.
reeeeeeal tasty food! Stumbled upon this place via opentable and it was great! super tasty food and in a good location too. Would have only been better if there had been a little background music to set the tone in the upstairs restaurant.
Excellent restaurnt, the staff were brillant, very accomodating and friendly. Would definately go again and recommend it to others.
Met a friend for a lunch catch up and had a great time. Friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff, great food (even had a vegan option) and good wine. We had a great lunch / afternoon there. Excellent location near Green Park station.
Punchbowl has become a staple when we visit London. They have it all - and not your average pub food. All a step above. First time for Sunday roast and the poisson was outstanding. We always opt for the pub first floor as it's a fun scene and you meet great folks. Does not disappoint in food quality and selection, service and ambiance.
Great burger, delicious chips. Poor cocktail as prosecco was flat and left it dull. Roast dinner was fatty and bland. Amazing service, terrific ambience, unbeatable location.
Good food and great atmosphere for quiet discussion
First visit and very enjoyable. Staff and service in upstairs restaurant was great. Would recommend.
This is a gem of a building, with heaps of atmosphere, original fittings and charm. The charm is equaled by the delightful and friendly staff who do everything to make you welcome. If you are looking for a traditional pub, a good pub lunch or eating in the upstairs restaurant, you will not be disappointed.
Enjoyable lunch in a good atmosphere with great food.
Great food, Great service, fantastic place to spend time
Just wanted a nice quiet meal with my husband after meeting him at work in London.
Small dining room, intimate with great food.
For a Mayfair based, Mayfair priced bistro bar, this is an utter disappointment.
1) The gentleman who was supposed to take our orders and serve us was loudly rattling away the pub's cutlery for 15-20 mins a yard from us. And we had to struggle to get his attention. I was there with an acquaintance for a meal and lunch drink. I had to apologise for the din!
2) When we did manage to order, he got my whiskey order wrong and was yelling loudly from the far corner asking which whiskey did I ask for, he could easily have walked a few yards!! And when he did finally manage to get me the drink to the table, it had something odd floating inside it.
3) Oddly, the table next to us had to send something back too.
4) I understand all of us have days where we are not ourselves, things go wrong etc. But the team seemed annoyed to have patrons - says something about the management or the ownership.
5) So to conclude, nice location, used to enjoy going there for lunch but it is sad to see it run with no care.
We have been to the Punch Bowl before and I love the booths that you can sit in. They are perfect for a mid sized group. We were celebrating my wife’s birthday with our 3 children (19,17, 14) and were enjoying our Sunday roast - there is reasonable choice (poussin, lamb or beef) and the food is good. Unfortunately our lunch was somewhat damaged by a middle aged, drunk, very loud and sweary group in the next booth who then became abusive when challenged about the level and type(bad language) of noise they were making. Nonetheless our waitress was charming and she was clearly concerned when we decided to leave slightly prematurely. We will be going back and - assuming Tim and his pals aren’t there - look forward to it. We are not about to let these oafs prevent us from returning to what is a good Sunday lunch venue. Oh, and we saw Karen Brady there too....
Authentic old pub. Nice dining room which is quieter. Good very average.
Tucked away near Berkley Square, the Punchbowl at first appears to be a bustling and vibrant pub with tables for eating at the back. Before we got settled at our booked table, we were asked if we wanted to sit upstairs - and as it was quite noisy around the bar - we did.
Upstairs is more of a bistro setting and much easier to hear yourself think. The menu is not extensive but well thought out. My beetroot and feta salad was delightful and had well balanced flavours.
For mains, I had the sausage and mash with onion gravy - it was delicious; a good, hearty traditional favourite. My daughter had the venison which just melted in her mouth. We had a side dish of sprout tops with crispy bacon which was a lovely accompaniment recommended by our waiter
Dessert seemed to take a long time to come but it was worth it. I very rarely have dessert but thoroughly enjoyed my sticky toffee pudding.
I would recommend this place - sit upstairs if you want to talk to your party - and downstairs if you want a more lively atmosphere
Fantastic place to spend New Year’s Eve! Food and beverages were fantastic and service upstairs was excellent.
Good pub in the heart of Mayfair. Food was nothing special but the decor, service and atmosphere made up for it. Perfect for what we wanted.
Warm welcome and nice room on the first floor. Don’t be put off by the ground floor old pub feel. The dining room is bright and cheerful. Our meals were lovely and the staff great. They had a bit of bother trying to do a floater coffee with amaretto but we ended up with a free drink instead. Worth a visit.
The bunchbowl is a quaint establishment the food was alright but the service was poor, men never make good waitress,s !!!! For some strange reason they didn't know how to make a liquor coffee!!!!!
Would I go back probably.
Had a business lunch there last Monday and the food was exceptional (I had the calamari starter and chicken tarragon main). The ambience was great for a winters day and the service was fantastic - polite and speedy. Definitely going back there again.
We booked to eat early on a Sunday evening. We ate in the bar, not the restaurant. The problem was that most of the food had already been sold. Menu-wise, it came down to sea bass, risotto or bar food. The staff worked hard and the young manager was good, but a birthday meal with virtually nothing on the menu is never good.
We won't be rushing back.
The upstairs restaurant was modern and had a very
convivial atmosphere. The service was second to none and the food exceptional. I can’t praise the Punchbowl enough. Bravo!
Very good food. Service a bit slow but very nice. Brilliant decor. Would go again.
Classic pub, good mood, nice beer, mouthwatering food, irresistible puddings, very friendly service 👍🏻
