Food here was best we have ever had and we eat out regularly. The freshness, textures and flavours amazing. The restaurant setting was beautiful. Staff so friendly and helpful. Not rushed but attentive at same time. Would definitely recommend and definitely return
Sunday lunch at the George on the Strand is always enjoyable, a traditional Sunday Roast in a very congenial ambiance.
Lovely and traditional without being stuffy or too modern. Service was delightful. The rib eye steak for two could have been served intact, it didn’t need cutting up before hand and the belly pork starter was a little overdone on one side, and not enough on the other. When pouring the house red, if it’s a cork bottle, even though it’s the house, I’d still like to taste it before you fill my glass. Steak was actually great and service really responsive. Overall very pleased and would definitely go again.

Fantastic food and venue. The hostess deserves particular mention as she was the perfect balance of friendly, helpful and extremely knowledgeable about the food and drink on offer. very impressive.
Charming, cozy and delicious! This is our second annual visit and the restaurant did not disappoint our fond memories. Quiet! We could hear each other. Refined small menu with choices for vegan to carnivore — all well-prepared and tasty. This is not a restaurant for a rousing good time; this is for an intimate, warm evening with good friends and family. On the other hand you could propose marriage or life-time commitment here and it would be memorable.
Service is friendly and embracing. You feel welcome back to family.
The food is perfectly prepared and presented. Try the pigeon, you won't be disappointed!
Ask for wine recommendations. They do an amazing job of helping you find great value in their wine collection!
Love this place. Been twice. Once upstairs, once downstairs. Both excellent. Best roast pork I've ever had. Sssshhhh.....don't tell Mum!
Hake main course very good, however, the venision shepherd's pie dish was minuscule and left my son still hungry. Two of the desserts were good but the pannacotta was very bland, the honey comb did not combine well with it.
Overall quite disappointing and pricy for what it was.

The food was incredibly salty. Every single dish. Potatoes that cane with my chicken dish were inedible due to salt level.
My husband’s venison was very undercooked and chewy. Not pink. Undercooked.
When complained to the waiter, all we got back is ‘sorry’. No suggestion to change or take it off the bill.
Would not return.

Went with a friend for Saturday dinner. We went quite early so it was quiet and we had a good chat. The atmosphere was nice and service attentive. We both enjoyed our dishes. I had sea bream and my friend had venison. The wine was good and desserts also nice.
Delicious good quality food. Excellent service. The woman who served us was friendly and informative about the menu both for food and wine. I would definitely recommend the restaurant. We went pre-theatre and the location was ideally placed for seeing a show at the Novello theatre.
Fantastic dinner supper good and service
The food was some of the best I have eaten in ages. I had the bream which was cooked perfectly and my niece had the cod which was delicious. Very high standard of cooking - well done Chef. Charming service and comfortable tables - not too close together. All in all, a very pleasurable experience.

Often walked past but never been in so thought I would try. Very quiet when arrived at 12.30 but filled up nicely and created good buzz in the well appointed traditional style restaurant upstairs. Interesting menu and thoughtful choices - engaging presentation of recommendations encouraged us to try the wine suggestion (which was a very good half bottle of Albarino)...I liked the fact that it was half-bottles being recommended. Service was understated and casual rather than attentive....more relaxed, pub style. Food was very well prepared and presented. For its location and quality I thought it was good value (£100 for 2 including a shared half bottle). Would go back

A great new venue in an area that's surprisingly short of good options. Over a pub, but there's no noticeable noise from downstairs (and the loos are separate too). Excellent food and drink (including five-star truffle and parmesan chips), but a little on the pricey side -- a set menu might be the next step forward?
Had a very lovely meal here. It's very small.The service was perfect, the food great and ambience very fun. I would highly suggest going here.
The food was very good, high quality ingredients and a nice variety of dishes in the menu. The only thing I would add in the ambiance was some nice Jazz music, it will transform the experience and it will go very well with menu.
We ate last friday in this restaurant and are very satisfied with our experience: the service was efficient and kind, the main courses, sides, desserts and wines we tasted were really good. I really enjoyed the roasted chicken because the meat was tender, the green beans with the nuts were crunchy and delicious, the apple crumble with halzelnut ice-cream was very well cooked. We would recommand this place for a quiet diner in a warm atsmophere with tasty food!

Good food, wine and service. Restaurant without windows. Was disappointed that the view advertised on the website is restricted to the private dinner room, the normal people are in the dark!
We 5 attended at the Pig and Goose on Wednesday 8th May.
We were greeted by Hugo, who instantly knew may name, which made us feel really valued, he was attentive to our every need [as well as being stunningly handsome!!!]. The food was exceptional and the service could not be faulted.
I would certainly go back again, our overall impression was of quality and exceptional service.
This was Sunday lunch in the George. Very lovely. Great service and the food was really good. They didn't have the wine I wanted so charged me the same for a more expensive glass. Well worth a visit and will try upstairs another time.
The George is not a gastropub. It is a restaurant above a pub with a serious menu and fairly serious prices. The room is simple but comfortable, no distinctive décor but an element of room between the tables/banquettes, a calm looking open kitchen at one end, and an air of quiet efficiency. The wine list is enterprising and fairly priced. We had a Valpolicella at £28 which we felt was reasonable value.
The menu has some interesting ideas and this is what attracted me; starters included pork belly, smoked chicken terrine, all nicely accessorised, and we enjoyed our choices. I decided on sea bream and my companion chose rabbit and chorizo, and here is where we felt let down. The fish was nicely presented, properly cooked, but essentially boring, even though everything was fresh. The rabbit and chorizo was even more pedestrian, and was quite dry, a big disappointment. It may be that our choices on the night just happened to miss, but with both mains falling rather flat, I simply cannot flag the George up as a winner, especially with such fierce competition from other eateries in this price range.
As a MUST when I visit London with my family. This time it was the experience with the Sunday's roast at The George which intrigued us.
Everything was great, the atmosphere, the beers and the food. A great pork belly with a crunchy skin, a great fish and very tasty hamburger. We love it as preferred English pub in London.
Price in line with the quality and above the average of other similar location.

The restaurant at the 1st floor is really nice. Not so many tables but really a quiet and sophisticated atmosphere.
The waiter was warm and polite. Helped us taking the best decision about the meal.
To remember the duck breast and the peanut parfait. Top.
In the next days we visit The George with a very good expectation.
We use to visit once a year this nice place, pub and restaurant.
This was my third time dining at The Pig and Goose and the first time for my partner and it didn't disappoint. Excellent service, very good food and wine and a relaxing ambience. Looking forward to returning soon.
The meal was one of the best we had during our ten days in London. It took some work to overcome the surliness of the waiter/bartender, and that is the only thing that keeps me from giving this a n outstanding review. The courgettes was one of the best dishes I've ever had. Would love to know the recipe!!!
