note really the best Sunday lunch experience. food was ok at best. no choice of vegetables just 2 plonked down on the table. no discussion! all had beef which tasted ok but very tough. service pleasant but not warm and welcoming. dark quiet dining room.
no draught beer but bottled was very good.

Chips were excellent. Could have done some peas with the ham (not gammon note) egg and chips. Steaks both fillet and rib eye were very good and tender. Cheese board was generous but the cheese cake was commercial.

We had a lovely meal at The Oak. Staff very friendly. Nice pub food - we all had burgers and chips.

Food was very good value. Atmosphere was average.

terrible service, used to be incredible and the food was always brilliant. Haven't been here for a couple years and was incredible last time i went, but being completely honest i wont go back in a hurry!

Despite covid restrictions, the atmosphere was very welcoming, service was very good as was the food. The choice of pizzas was quite meat- based, perhaps one with vegetables instead of meat would provide better choice. Pizza was tasty though.

Excellent food, nice atmosphere. A shame that they closed a little earlier than normal due to covid.

Food was very uninspiring and Luke warm. Wouldn’t return in a hurry

The service was really poor at this restaurant. We ordered after waiting 15 minutes, then after we had eaten our main course, we sat and waited for our plates to be cleared for 45 minutes. We weren't asked if we wanted more drinks in that time either. After the waitress passed the table 3 times without offering to clear, we asked for the bill. We complained about the service, but were not given an explanation. Very disappointing

Staff were quite rude as we were 8mins late (we did ring to say we was stuck in traffic)
Menu was very limited but what we did have tasted amazing

Great meal the service was excellent and staff were very friendly. The food was fantastic and met my expectations I had a steak which was cooked beautifully and my partner had calamari, cod and chips which she enjoyed greatly. Thanks for a wonderful meal out

We went during dine out to help out as on holiday locally. There was a heave downpour just before we set out & we had booked an outdoor table so we’re apprehensive. The staff were amazing and had moved our booking indoors! Hubby highly recommended chicken & chorizo salad kids loved the pizza & I had the fish & chips which was also great highly recommended

Our experience at the oak house hotel was spectacular! We were on holiday in the area and went for drink one evening, the atmosphere was friendly and relaxed so we booked a table for the following night. Tracey was very efficient and friendly. The food was the best we’d had all week on holiday! Thank you!

Some of the food was lovely, some was fair. The mussels were not particularly fresh or flavoursome.
When we returned home we realised a drink that we had not had had been added to our bill which was disappointing!

Enjoyed a pleasant lunch at the Oak House. The menu is different to the one on their website, also we pre-booked a table outside which someone else had apparently taken! Otherwise food and wine was very good.

Lovely meal. Cod and chips was really good. I think these were best chips ever. My husband and daughter had the chicken and chorizo salad which they said was great but they were both drooling over my chips. We are here on holiday for a week and plan to go back again.

We have dined in the restaurant many times and have always been very satisfied with both the food, service and ambience. However this recent experience was disappointing. Firstly we were not seated in the restaurant but close to the bar area which was very noisy. There also appeared to be only one member of staff dealing with meal orders and like other staff was not wearing PPE which left us feeling most uncomfortable.

This was our first meal out since lockdown and the Covid information displayed on their Web site was very well explained and impressive which is why we felt able to book. However this was not reflected at the venue.

Lovely experience after lockdown, easy to book a table and nice little spot in the sun for the afternoon. Staff very polite and quick to deal with orders. Great social distancing and felt very comfortable. Will be back again very soon

For first day since Covid the team did an awesome job. All seems very organised and safe. We didn’t eat but enjoyed being back having a nice pint or 3....

My family found the the meal was very well presented and tasty. My guest who opted for the vegan options was pleasantly surprised at the range offerd and was very pleased with her choices. The building is charming and the facilities very clean and tidy. Reception was quick and friendly and the only minor problem was that some of the pre lunch drinks were not in stock. That could have been because of a busy weekend or Saturday. We would very definitely book again when the opportunity arises. Thank you for your excellent service team.

I am so pleased I chose to book lunch at the Oak House Restaurant. We were meeting up with old friends who were going to be in Somerset for a few days. It was my first visit to your restaurant and all five of us were delighted with our meals. Quite delicious. Please thank the chef.

The service was extremely good and the waiting staff was so pleasant and helpful.

Love the look of the building and the Well in the dining room was really interesting (don't like your plastic beams though), my husband would have had them out in a flash (who did that!! they are horrid).

Never the less we are sure to return again when we are in the area. Thank you all for an excellent afternoon.

We both had rib eye steak and then the cheeseboard. The steak was cooked exactly how wr asked for it, rare, and had a great flavour. The cheeseboard was a really good balance of local cheeses and delicious. As my daughter does not drink red wine we had to large glasses of wine one red one white, both of excellent quality.

Roast dinner was lovely, sadly we were the only guests in the dining room, so lacked some ambience.

Good food, well presented. Lots of choice, vegetarian option was very tasty

Lovely dinner in a very charming environment. We were staying at the hotel which was lovely too. Food is creative and nicely presented. The staff was also very attentive. We had a nice time.

The menu was attractive, and the food well cooked, service was friendly and efficient. Slight downside was that doors had been left open on an evening when there was a very cool breeze which led to our party feeling rather cold by the time the meal arrived.
Otherwise it was an enjoyable and the price at the upper end of the spectrum for local restaurants but so was the food!

Fabulous meal , wine and live jazz performance and lovely room.. We requested last minute a room with a bath (we moved into a house with only a shower in July) and this was met and really added to a chilled weekend

What a great place! The food was delicious, service outstanding and the staff were extremely friendly.

Added bonus was a young chap called Sam playing a guitar and singing, not loudly but as a great background!
