The Montagu Kitchen at Hyatt Regency London - The Churchill
Absolutely great brunch and superb value for money.
Great service with a soft ambience. We had a grey, rainy day and it was easy to imagine how the restaurant would look great with some sunlight through the windows.
Have been here twice before with bookatable and really enjoyed it. Definitely not as good a choice with the set menu tonight and not as good a bargain. We did not like our starters of beetroot tart and beetroot salad. The fish was nice but the pork belly had too many unpleasant bits on the plate. Not a disaster and the staff, wine and service were good but won’t be coming back.
Fantastic staff especially Ela who was so bubbly and attentive throughout our brunch.
Having dined at Montague Kitchen numerous times, this was the most disappointing experience to date. The service was slow and lack lustre and, apart from the fabulous starters, the food disappointing. I ordered the pork belly and ended up with a plate of fat - very little pork in sight and the dish was served with a sparse amount of vegetables and no potatoes of any type. Others in the party had beef which, although advised would be served medium rare, it was in fact served ‘bleu’ and had to be returned. The desserts were uninspiring. Bring back the old Sunday lunch format which worked so much better. We won’t be returning any time soon.
Dad not to have Xmas music playing.
I asked for a gluten free tea; I was sent two non gluten free scones? When I queried it, waiter didn’t not take the initiative and replace them, just left me to it.
Second glass of champagne for £14 is steep. No offering of extra tea or food (tea only when we asked for the bill??). Cake on offer on cake stand was larger and more inviting than cakes offered.
The restaurant looks great. Our waitor was excellent and provided great service. The food was ok but did not justify the price. I ordered steak which was quite underwhelming.
This has been my favorite restaurant in London for many years. However, this time I did not think the food was as good as it used to be (2017 and earlier), just "average". Hopefully, food will be excellent next time, since the restaurant has a nice ambiance.
Amazing cocktails in the bar beforehand
Delicious marshmallow treat for dessert
Will absolutely be returning. We had the 2 course Christmas Menu with Cocktails and it was divine. Couldn't fault the service either.
OK food and wine but very poor service indeed. We had a trainee waiter who didn't have a clue and who received no guidance from the more senior people there. No awareness of guests' needs e.g.when water needed to be topped up, no initial offer to take drinks order, took 20 mins to deliver wine once ordered, a lot of standing around chatting to each other etc.
The occasion got off to a poor start with a table positioned too close to the walkway the servers needed to use to distribute meals to other large group bookings. However this was smoothly remedied by a move to another table and from that point on it was a very enjoyable occasion. The afternoon tea was lovely and the service more than made up for a very inauspicious start. Will definitely use the Montagu again when in the area.
We had a fabulous pre-Christmas lunch at The Montagu Kitchen. The buffet was excellent quality and the set menu generous. Extras such as the oysters were great. Our glasses were regularly topped up and the service was attentive without being suffocating. We really enjoyed our afternoon, and would highly recommend it
Pleasant afternoon with excellent service. Not as formal or ornate of an atmosphere as other afternoon teas, but food mostly good, and plenty of it for a full meal!
The food is good and there are gluten free and diary free options.
The service is poor.
I was told one of my card transactions had not gone through and was asked to try again. And again. I subsequently discovered I have paid 4 times for the same bill. I have emailed them asking them to correct this and I await an acknowledgement.
The service was friendly and attentive - just right. The food choice and quality was excellent. Some food labels were missing but it wasn't a big deal. Thoroughly enjoyed our champagne brunch. The Greno champagne was very nice. Hotel was discreetly festive and tasteful.
The service was excellent. We had to wait 45 mins for the beef Wellington . However the waiter kept us busy with breads and snacks.
Lovely family brunch, great venue, great staff.Food was delicious!
Very nice food and environment !
I was impressed that a Greek waitress came to speak to us, when the other staff knew we were Greeks...amazing and notorious !!
Excellent job...we will come again in Xstmas time when we will be in London.
Thank you for the wonderful evening !!😊😊😊😊
Loved it from start to finish. Great service, great food. Everyone very attentive. Thanks. I’ll come again for sure!!!
THANK YOU FOR AN AMAZING LUNCH! STAFF WERE VERY GOOD....NOT TOPPED UP WITH WINE AS QUICK AS USUAL....BUT STILL ALL GOOD.
Lovely location, so cozy and nice.
Food was very taste, portion a bit small.
Staff was very nice. The new waiter and the lady supervising him were very polite and nice. I will recommend this restaurant and definitely going back.
Lovely food and champagne. Very nice service and great value for money. Would return and will recommend to friends and family
The maître d’ was friendly but not that forthcoming with useful info on how the menus worked (had booked the tapas menu), but the waiters were very good. Quiet hotel restaurant, excellent food and plenty of it. Wine list very expensive, although expected realistically given that it was a fancy hotel.
Really amazing venue and fantastic good to live up to it!
The staff were great and I’d fully go again for something a little more special than just, brunch.
My boyfriend had a great belated birthday treat and I’ve recommended this to all my friends.
Surprisingly a mix meal at the restaurant.
Les Amuses Bouches did not offer anything special and were put on a large granola bowl (how many hands went there??). The offer deal was not a true offer - it was very limited to 2 starters and 2/3 main courses. The starters and mains were tasty but not whatsoever to the level expected. The tea was £6.50 but a tea bag was used. The service was friendly. Overall a 6/10.
Best dinner I have done in London in a decade, best tasting menu ever
The restaurant need more staff
Service is very slow
Food was outstanding
I was let down as a Hyatt globalist
Staff are nice but not that flexible. We asked for the vacant table by the window but was told it was reserved. The table remained vacant through the lunch. In fact the restaurant was only half full - There is a good reason why - it is so much more expensive than it was when I started going some years ago. If you’re like me, with an average sized appetite, then this is just not worth the money. Sadly, this will probably be my last visit.
What a surprise. We were staying at the hotel. Too tired to leave we decided to try the hotel restaurant. It was quiet that evening so we were initially concerned. It was amazing. The food was well prepared and had interesting items.
We'd definitely recommend this to others. Although they've slightly changed the arrangement (seems we'd not been for a year), the buffet - help yourself - spread of starters was excellent, added to which the staff will bring freshly cooked eggs benedict/ eggs florentine etc. They also offered fresh oysters, which were excellent. Main course is now a choice, which they bring to the table whe you are ready. The shoulder of lamb was very good, although i notice they are still serving roasted new potatoes rather than good old fashioned fluffy english roast potatoes. a selection of cakes/ sweets came in a fabulous fancy setting and, again, were very good. Also good choice of cheese and breads etc. on a help yourself basis. Waiting staff were absolutely brilliant, including in topping up glasses (champagne, red or white wine), with no problems swapping to and fro between different ones depending on what we were eating. Good atmosphere and a good number of people were there on the sunday. However, we do think the music was probably unnecessary, or, if not that, then probably a tad too loud (with the guitarist drowning out the singer too often).
Service was slow despite having enough staff and a not so busy night. My server never brought my wine but also didn’t put it on the bill so I guess never took the order despite my pointing it out on the menu. It wasn’t just our table as the table next to us was there before us and did not get served until we had finished our entree.
The food was very good. I had the tomato tartare, which was excellent and my wife had the smoked salmon, which was also very good. The pork belly was rather fatty and could have done with more rendering. The price was rather high but that's the West End for you!
A lovely meal in a relaxed atmosphere. Attentive service but not overly so. All at a reasonable price. We will definitely make a return visit and recommend The Montagu Kitchen to our friends. Many thanks.
Good for hotel and staff really friendly and efficient. Still suffers from hotel atmosphere
The lunch menu was very nice and such good value at two courses for £20 or three for £25. The apple pie was amazing. Thank you for an excellent lunch.
Beautiful restaurant with adequate food. Very personable waiter who was simply overwhelmed. It seemed that staffing was not a priority. One of my dining companions waited what seemed like an eternity for her wine that she had ordered. Overall, even with our very personable waiter, restaurant was mediocre at best!
I had the set menu with Gin Tonic and I was treated un a very special way from beginning to end.
