The Mermaid Inn Uptown
Swim on over for Mermaid Inn favorites like the lobster roll with Old Bay fries, seared skate wing, Mermaid fish tacos and the Happiest of Happy Hours.
he uptown location also features an expanded raw bar, brunch and the same casual and cozy "shore feel" as the downtown spot.
Danny Abrams, who has owned and operated some of the city's most beloved restaurants (including The Red Cat and The Harrison), is the principle owner, and Michael Cressotti is their corporate executive chef.
Service was a bit slow; our entrees took quite a while. There were only 4 crackers in a small pail on the table, not that much for 4 people to nibble on while waiting. A bit pricey for the size portions too. A bit disappointing.
The only thing I would ask is after the reservation is confirmed in a note from open table that the restaurant not then contact me again the day of the reservation.
Food is always great but they clearly are focused on turning tables. Last two times we have been rushed to finish up. We would have preferred to be asked if we would like something else as opposed to being presented the check before we were ready. And then we feel like we are being watched and don’t want to stay for that last drink.
Love this place!
the food was okay, but not great. has become pretty mediocre.
Excellent waiter, delicious dirty hot martini, perfect yellowtail cerviche. If you love fish and want a reasonable NYC experience run or swim there immediately
We were late for our reservation due to excessive traffic . Our reservation had been cancelled but they were able to seat us in the bar area . We had a delicious but noisy dinner .
They were terrific about bringing a dessert with a candle for my friend- and we were only there for the happy hour!
The dining experience was delightful, the service from Ryan was extraordinary, and the salmon was cooked to perfection atop a delicious bed of cabbage and hummus.
The flavor profiles were East Coast meets Mediterranean... sublime! Paired with a lovely crisp rose and finished with chocolate pudding... A true value. Mermaid Inn is on my “go to” list.
Very friendly service staff. The food was excellent. The fried calamari has just the right amount of flour. We also had the fish taco, shrimp avocado sliders, salmon tartare and their daily fish special. They were all fantastic.
Always have a good meal here. Staff are friendly and efficient. Food delicious and the free chocolate dessert is a welcome treat at the end.
We were in NYC for the week celebrating our 50th anniversary. This was an unexpected gem. Great drinks, great food. It was loud but in a festive way.
Great food, service and ambiance..
I move going to the Mermaid Inn — always great choices for delicious, healthy food. Can’t wait to go back!
Always high quality food and good service. We've been here many times.
Wonderful meal, great neighborhood restaurant.
We had a very good meal and the service was great. The only problem was the noise level. Still, we like this restaurant very much
Looking forward to returning tonight
Totally enjoyed the food and the service. Will definitely return.
Usually good but service, food was not so at last meal there
Everything we ordered - the shakshuka, salmon platter, and Greek yogurt pancakes - were absolutely delicious. Thank you for a great brunch!
Great experience with wonderful service
Terrific happy hour options and truly tremendous service.
Best restaurant on UWS! Downside is you can never get a table, of course.
Went for Sunday brunch, had the French toast, eggsBenedict regular and with smoked salmon. All the dinners were great. Only drawback was the side of bacon was done on a grill and the grill marks were blackened on the bacon.
They need to cushion the noise level. Very difficult to have a conversation even with the
person sitting next to you.
Mermaid Inn is a Saturday afternoon staple. You won't be disappointed!
Great happy hour, fantastic food. Can’t go wrong really.
Very attentive waiter. We sat outside since indoors in the back room was just too noisy. Always good food.
Always a great experience. The oysters and cod were excellent and you can't beat the happy hour wine! It gets pretty loud in the back dining room ,not sure if there's anyway to modify that, but it won't stop us from coming back.
Great food and ambiance. Too bad this location doesn’t also participate in Monday Happy Hour like the East Village one!
Took advantage of happy hour. Oysters were delicious
Great food and service! Despite a busy Sunday, let us sit and enjoy without rushing us out.
Inattentive and inexperienced waitress, seemed to be bothered and or nervous of our presence. Food runner somehow felt he needed to explain what he had just brought out in Spanish. Again waitress nowhere to be found, then seemed annoyed at the fact that we flagged her down and had her tell us what was on the table in English. The manager made a lame if not uncomfortable attempt to apologize at some point, it seemed tortured to have to do so. My family and I, have been coming to Mermaid Inn since its beginning in the East Village and the the UWS when it opened across the street from my home. I’ve sent family, friends and visitors a like over the years, but after this latest experience, I’m afraid it’ll be my last time. It’s a shame really.
Overall food was nicely presented and drinks were good. Service was pleasant & excellent.
Our only complaint was the over-seasoned fries with the lobster roll dish.
I love the Mermaid Inn. Great food, nice atmosphere. My only quibble is that sometimes I feel a teensy but rushed to get through my dinner when sitting at a table. Otherwise they always have lovely service and always enjoy my meals there! Those lobster rolls are heaven on a plate!
Always love ❤️ Mermaid 🧜♀️ Inn. Food 🐠 is delish. Staff is always warm and friendly. Vibe is always chill. My favorite neighborhood restaurant. 💕
Great food and my server was amazingly attentive. Great Service! Please update your menu with a font that's easy to read. the font is too small and in low lighting very difficult to read.
Absolutely amazing. I’m from New England, so I’m pretty critical of fish. The chowdah was one of the best and the cod was amazing! Loved it!
Wonderful as always. Thank you
