Award Winning Contemporary American cuisine. Exceptional food in a neighborhood atmosphere.
Food was good as normal, when I made reservations I requested bar, we got sat in restaurant, we like the bar and bar snacks, our waiter (I don’t know his name ) rushed us at all times, I was going to order several appetizers, but he to hurriedly took the order and left before we were done ordering. Next time we will sit in the bar and have the experience we have had in our 5-6 visits before.
Three of the five meals were excellent and the service was outstanding.
The Mercury is simply the best! Chef Chris Ward should win Chef of the century. Its hard to find restaurants that stay consistently awesome year after year but look no further....The Mercury is the place!!!
Service was very attentive, but did not hover. Waiter was very knowledgeable of the menu. Interesting, diverse menu. Food was exceptional. Pricey, but worth it.
We enjoyed the variety of the menu and outstanding service. All the folks there are so helpful and friendly! Food was great too!
Great service, wonderful menu, outstanding dinner. Soufflés were fantastic and a great finish to a wonderful meal.
The staff starting VACUUMING and putting chairs away while we were still eating our dinner! Terrible. At least wait until the patrons are gone!
Waiter was not up to the standards that I am
Used to at the Mercury.
We chose The Mercury for a romantic Valentine’s Day setting. We had heard wonderful things about this “Dallas fine dining institution.” We were so excited when we got a reservation. When we arrived, our car was valeted quickly. Once inside we were greeted promptly. From there, things went bad. First the barman was rude. No other way to put it. Several items listed on the bar menu were either inaccurate or no longer available and the obnoxious server could not have cared less. While neither of us are connoisseurs, to shout “sorry, don’t got it,” or, “nope don’t do those anymore,” was just ill-mannered. From there the evening was marred with service inaccuracies and prolonged delays. The restaurant was plausibly crowded for a widely recognized celebration of love; but there seemed to be more than enough staffing. It was perplexing; all those people rushing about and us and others waiting for food or hovering over dirty dishes. Now, about the food: I was lucky. My steak was edible, although woefully overdone. As for my husband’s steak? How do I say this? The steak was so overdone, and so infused with the taste of what is put into natural gas to make leaks detectable it was almost unpalatable. What likely happened was a grease fire under the steak. Grease fires make beef and other meats smell and taste awful. Anyone who has made a steak or two knows this. Surprisingly, the chef (or someone else who just did not care) decided to send the steak out anyway rather than prepare another cut of meat properly. My husband of 23 years had to endure an overcooked chunk of beef, that wreaked of charcoal and natural gas. We would have sent it back – but we knew it would just be worse and prolong our misery. The restaurant offered endless apologies, and adjusted the bill without hesitation. The rows of expensive cars and well-dressed patrons in suits and furs belies this restaurant. Go for the show if you want, but don’t count on the food.
Beautiful experience from the valet to the table. Restaurant was very busy due to Valentine's Day traffic, but our server was prompt and attentive. Our entrees were delivered in the speed to which you would generally receive your appetizers; food was cooked to perfection. Looking forward to our next visit.
I’ve been coming to The Mercury for over 20 years and while other restaurants lose their edge over that much time, The Mercury never misses a beat. It’s still a rock solid, “go to” choice for a great dinner with great service.
The menu doesn’t change much but it shouldn’t because they do things so well. Black cod, pearl couscous, lamb shank, beet salad or pear and Gorgonzola salad are made perfectly every time we go.
I hope it never changes
Great sushi away from the main dining room.
Excellent food & service. Great wine choices. Birthday dinner with a friend. Several large parties contributed to noise level, but not so much we couldn’t visit. Excellent wine suggestion, and server was appropriately attentive for a leisurely meal. Highly recommended the tuna. Look forward to returning to explore the menu more.
The only thing is it was a bit loud for a meeting, I think it was just missed when reservation was made. Being put in back room would have been great. But we made it work and had a great time
My friend & I meet at Mercury whenever we are both in town. This time after a slight mixup with my drink, Matthew came by to inquire. He swapped out mine for a perfect grey goose la poire & st Germain martini with the hot rocks on the side! He brought a specially infused bourbon he had made for my friend to taste. Our tuna tartare & beef carpaccio were perfect & then we were surprised by a sweet raspberry soufflé because I had mentioned how I often enjoy raspberries in my cocktail!
A completely perfect visit to a favorite spot 👍
Our first time there, was a little disappointing. Got put in dining room b or maybe it was c. A back room with a kitchenette and a handful of tables. Was a pickup section because there were five tables and five different servers. We weren’t given any menus which seems strange. Then the server arrived a few minutes later then he should have with a wine menu, but no food menus. Had to ask for them, and then had to ask for the separate sushi menu. Was given bread with two different spreads still wonder what they were. The service wasn’t bad it was just non existent. Would have like to know more about the food and what to expect.
Food was delicious and prepared perfectly. Managers were present and friendly. Had good interactions with the bar and the host. Even had a nice experience the valet. Obviously doing something’s right with the years of success, but made a pretty bad impression on us
P.S Your waiter might be looking of a new job because he asked if the restaurant that we work for is hiring. Not really exciting dinner conversation.
Consistently good! Sat in the sushi room for a change and enjoyed it too.
Mercury continues to be consistently great. The food is great, the staff are professional, friendly, and very accommodating. Another awesome dining experience!
Great cocktails and wine that are not overpriced. Food is excellent, especially the blackened cod.
Service and food were outstanding, as usual, and drinks were very tasty!
Eleanor provided great service and the food was wonderful as usual. This is a great location to entertain clients.
We were accompanied by 4 friends who had never been to The Mercury. They were all delighted with our choice. I had requested that we be in a quieter space, since a couple of the others have hearing problems, and our request was honored. The service was spectacular. We had a wonderful time. I love Mercury.
Business lunch. All efficient and professional
Great food. Exceptional service. Love going here every time I go to Dallas.
We love the Mercury. As always the food was superb, the service impeccable and attentive, and the ambiance wonderful.
Dover some not great quality. Could t get the drink order right.
Michael was a wonderful waiter. Our initial waiter was not so wonderful. Told me they couldn't make a margarita, didn't bring us menus, placed dirty eyeglasses from the floor on our table (not our eyeglasses), just a negative attitude overall. The food here is consistently great. The service at lunch has been consistently good. The service at dinner has not been consistently good.
The food was good, but our server was not. She did not have a very pleasant personality, which changes the feeling of the evening. I’ve always had a good experience at Mercury, so this was a disappointment.
Maria is an awesome server ... The sushi is awesome!
Wonderful! Brian was excellent.
Akways good never disappoints. Service great
The Mercury never disappoints!
I think we hit this restaurant on an off night. Our experience started off great, and then I’m not sure what happened, but it took forever to get our food and the service just disappeared. I suspect issues in the kitchen, but not sure. We were there for almost 2.5 hours - a dinner for 2 people. I wish could recommend, but this just wasn’t worthy of a stellar review.
This was overall a truly excellent experience. Suggested Cabernet, 3 different entrees and sides were outstanding. Taglionini gratinati appetizer was shared by all at beginning and was universally declared a winner. Minor disappointment was a somewhat dry bread pudding, however lava cake was wonderful. Service was superior from beginning to end. Expect to return soon and often
Daily soup was exquisite. One of the best steaks I have ever been served at a restaurant. Service was sublime as was the atmosphere. Will go back for anniversary- hidden gem! Desserts didn’t compare to the impeccable standards throughout though.
If I could this 100 stars I would! Fantastic!!!!!
Make sure you make a reservation, this place was PACKED. I still waited about 25 minutes after scheduled reservation time. But that was okay. It is packed for a reason, the service was phenomenal, and the food was fantastic. I will be back and highly recommend.
It was so busy and full of energy. Atmosphere was fun Nd vibrand
Our entire experience dining at The Mercury was exceptional! Hostess was great, waitress/server outstanding, food couldn't have been more delicious, spot on! Wonderful dining adventure!!! A lovely evening for sure!
