The Mayfair Chippy
Fish & Chips is the specialty, but we also serve traditional classic British dishes such as our famous Shepherd’s Pie and Steak & Kidney Pudding. To complement the fabulous food, we also offer a selection of world wines and retro cocktails.
Located in the heart of Mayfair our independent restaurant boasts 1 AA Rosette, we are also proud to appear in the Michelin Guide 2016.
We are open 7 days a week for Lunch and Dinner, with the addition of our new Weekend Brunch menu, not only can you stay, you can also take away.
The food is awesome but we will take out as it is so much cheaper than eating in. Hands down the best fish anywhere the food is exceptional and u do get what u pay for but £13 take out is reasonable but £26 to £50 is a bit steep when the only difference is 2 drinks which was a bottle of coke and a mocha the rest in eat in prices service charge. I cant say enough how good the food is and how good the staff are just for us builders it is an expensive lunch
It was my birthday. It’s really worth it! Great food, great atmosphere, and last but not least wonderful service!!! Amazing!!! We’ll be back for sure!
Go for the fish & chips. Very well done. Nice service too.
Best gluten free fish and chips ever! The staff are friendly and knowledgable. Very good tartar and curry sauce also
Perfect place to have a nice dinner in a charming, small and tasty place!
The guys were great about the Gluten Free options as my daughter is a coeliac. It really was great-staff brilliant but it was pricey.
It's good that the Chippy now takes reservations. It's hard to say that there are any "good" seats in this restaurant. Let's call it "artsy". Food is very fresh. I've been there twice and the service has always been attentive and friendly. Don't try to walk in. Get a reservation.
Delicious, lively venue, staff attentive and incredibly patient as always. Three stars simply because I like to dine here on my own and never get to get a table but a stool squeezed between two by the uncomfortable counter next to the entrance. Besides, it’s winter, cold and venue always packed as customers rather wait inside and there’s little room around the till.
The fact that some of us dine alone shouldn’t be an excuse not to be offered a better seat given that the bill is a ‘paint-point’ for everyone, regardless..... Thank you.
Really nice restaurant with fantastic staff. Food was excellent apart from the batter on both the crispy squid and the cod which should have been better than it was. Be aware that the prices are higher than those shown on the menu visible on OpenTable (This is something they really need to sort out)
We went for the first time with a friend visiting from the US. Was not sure what to expect but was pleasantly surprised. We enjoyed our classic cod and chips. Staff were also accommodating with request to substitute for cheese truffle chips. We were less impressed by the wine. Not bad, just not good either. Left very full indeed.
Amazing fish & chips, but also the crab toast and the desserts were delicious. Service was perfect. Reservation is recommended because there are always people waiting outside.
Hands down the best F&C’s in London.
From top to bottom the quality of the ingredients and cooking set it apart from anywhere else.
Both the Cod & Haddock are the best I’ve ever had in a chippy, same for the chips/battered sausage and sauces.
Doesn’t really get much better.
Food was lovely however, I am coeliac and ordered the fried halloumi with chips and curry sauce. I Asked if they were cooked separately and all I was told was that they are gluten free which didn’t really answer my question. Later that evening I had severe tummy pain and sickness (all feelings I’ve had when I’ve been ‘glutened’).
I feel they maybe weren’t as careful as they should’ve been in the kitchen. A shame because the food was lovely and my boyfriend who isn’t coeliac really enjoyed it.
Delicious fish and chips and excellent service. Great value for money.
Great food, location and service. Can't fault it. I was particularly impressed with tartare sauce.
Once again Mayfair Chippy was wonderful ! The staff are all very friendly and nice, the atmosphere warm and inviting , and the fish and chip the best in town .
I'll be back , whenever I'm in London . Travel from Canada on a regular basis.
Entertaining an Australian friend who has Coeliac disease. She requested traditional fish and chips in London but objc needed gluten free. Cant recommend Mayfair Chippy highly enough. The mushy pease are to die for. Batter light and chips delicious. Apparently the gluten free batter was also excellent.
We wanted traditional fish and chips, everything about it exceeded our expectations. Excellent quality food. Superb service.
Nice smile upon arrival and quickly seated in a pleasant room towards the rear. Friendly and informative server who explained all the options. Small but adequate wine list to accompany the food. Well prepared and presented fish dishes, especially the halibut.
Not cheap, but what is in London. Would happily recommend and happily return.
Perfect! Good quality/price. Good service.
The fish was absolutely outstanding!
Lovely food with quick service. Great selection of gluten free food.
The fish and chips were exceptional. Crispy mild fish. Also had fresh oysters. Fresh everyday. They were delicious. Place was a little hard to find for someone out of town. Lots of construction around the park.
Food, service, beer... everything was exceptional! Oysters, fish and chips were amazing, not to mention the homemade tartar sauce, mashed peas and curry sauce! I'm not a fan of peas, but these were delicious. The wife and I really liked this place. We're here for a week and plan on coming back before we go home to Sicily. Do yourself a favor and make a reservation. Your taste buds will thank you!
The fish and chips were crispy and extremely delicious. We started with the crab salad and the beet salads which were also extremely tasty and generous dinner portions.
We highly recommend Mayfair Chippy!
Authentic British restaurant where you eat well and enjoy a pleasant atmosphere. Nice waiter and quick service. All in all, an outstanding place and the best fish & chips I had so far in London.
Excellent Service and best Fish & Chips in London!
The food was very good.
We ordered the Mayfair classic, a cod and chips (which by default came with tartare sauce too), the green leaf salad and the cornish crab salad as starter.
The fish and the chips were very good, crunchy and tasty, and you could easily tell how fresh the fish was.
The crab salad really stood out. So many different flavours in just one plate!
On the downside, it took 50-70 minutes for our mains to be served to after finishing the starter.
The staff however was very apologetic, and the manager applied 30% off our bill (without us even complaining or asking for any sort of compensation), as an apology for the poor service.
Nice environment, fairly quiet, kids friendly (there were a couple of families there).
Since the place is generally quite busy, it might be worth making a reservation prior visiting it.
Absolutely fantastic will definitely be a regular every
Time we visit London. The staff was amazing nothing was too much trouble and everyone greeted
You with a smile .food was excellent .
Best fish and chips!
Being diagnosed with gluten problem I could not imagine myself not eating the traditional English fish and chips while in London, until I found this restaurant and EUREKA! THE BEST GLUTEN-FREE FISH AND CHIPS, the impressive thing is that you wouldn’t feel the difference between gluten and non-gluten (says my chef friend who’s dining with me). Thanks to Michelin’s recommendation! The staff and the Manager er so efficient and very professional. Unforgettable evening thank you so much!
Great service and a nice fish and chip meal
Great place for fish and chips. Good options on the menu. Tiny place so make a reservation or prepare to wait during busy times.
Every time I happen to be in London, The Mayfair Chippy is always a must. Best fish and chips you're gonna find in London! Also, the staff is so friendly and nice. Worth every penny.
Just a fantastic spot for a bite of solidly "London" comfort food with family or friends! A London must in a big way!
Great little Fish & Chips place in Mayfair. Quintessential English!
Good quality food. The fish was very fresh but the lobster was a bit small for the price. Otherwise, very lovely meal with good service
Loved this restaurant. Excellent service and food. Must improve ambience for a perfect spot.
Food was delicious as always, but service was slow.
The food was really good and the service was spot on.
