The Mayfair Chippy
Fish & Chips is the specialty, but we also serve traditional classic British dishes such as our famous Shepherd’s Pie and Steak & Kidney Pudding. To complement the fabulous food, we also offer a selection of world wines and retro cocktails.
Located in the heart of Mayfair our independent restaurant boasts 1 AA Rosette, we are also proud to appear in the Michelin Guide 2016.
We are open 7 days a week for Lunch and Dinner, with the addition of our new Weekend Brunch menu, not only can you stay, you can also take away.
Great fish and chips and service. Must go
As an American, this was the best fish & chips my family and I ever had. They also had a great list of gin, with cucumber tonic, absolutely delicious !!!!! I will recommend to those I know traveling to London and without a doubt come again.
We each chose basic fish and chips which was excellent . We had a bottle of the house wine but we’d recommend paying a bit more and having their Sauvignon blanc ( can’t remember its name) . Perfect for 2 guys before we went to watch a Spurs evening game . Staff were excellent and service was spot on . Perfect for a more upmarket fish and chips .
Thé fish and chips is outstanding !! Thé atmosphère is also very Nice. The prices are fair.
As an upmarket chippy the decor and ambience are still a bit chippy like, but none the worse for it. You go there to have chip shop fare and that’s what you get but it is very good of its genre and the service is excellent served with flare and some good humour by young people who look like they want to be there. It isn’t cheap (possibly because we had champagne with our fish and chips) but I think still excellent value for Mayfair and an excellent dining experience.
My 2nd time - found it through Tripadvisor the first time & just adore the fantastic Cod! Lovely cute place, unfort. a bit small as was a bit load but great for a quick lunch visit :)
Food under average, you can find much better fish and chips in London. Staff is friendly but the overall service is quite poor.
Do not return.
Had a great evening, the classic fish&chips was done to perfection.
Proper chippy with excellent quality food.
It was absolutely lovely.Very polite staff and the food was delicious!!We would recommend a reservation because they had to turn away lots of people. The restaurant is tiny and the rables are very small. We had to keep our coats on our knees. But we would come back with pleasure!
Nicely cooked fish and chips in a smart part of London. Very popular/busy. The door was constantly open.
Very good food
Our first time at this restaurant.
Very good service & food.
The only thing is I don’t think it was value for money. I would go back but not till the following year at Christmas when we go up town. It is to expensive to use regularly.
A good restaurant off busy Oxford Street, nice and good service accompanied with good quality. Will visit again.
Excellent everything was good, mussels were exceptional a fun nice place
Best fish and chips in. London
Best fish and chips and the sweetest most accommodating amazing staff
Excellent service, great British food. The lights are very bright, so don’t go here for a romantic date, but otherwise great place in Mayfair, overall great value and lovely people who work there.
A super little restaurant serving traditional fish and chips with a twist and very nicely presented The portions are huge. Helpful and friendly staff team.
The best fish and chips I have ever had. I take my friends and family there every time when we are in London.
The food is awesome but we will take out as it is so much cheaper than eating in. Hands down the best fish anywhere the food is exceptional and u do get what u pay for but £13 take out is reasonable but £26 to £50 is a bit steep when the only difference is 2 drinks which was a bottle of coke and a mocha the rest in eat in prices service charge. I cant say enough how good the food is and how good the staff are just for us builders it is an expensive lunch
It was my birthday. It’s really worth it! Great food, great atmosphere, and last but not least wonderful service!!! Amazing!!! We’ll be back for sure!
Go for the fish & chips. Very well done. Nice service too.
Best gluten free fish and chips ever! The staff are friendly and knowledgable. Very good tartar and curry sauce also
Perfect place to have a nice dinner in a charming, small and tasty place!
The guys were great about the Gluten Free options as my daughter is a coeliac. It really was great-staff brilliant but it was pricey.
It's good that the Chippy now takes reservations. It's hard to say that there are any "good" seats in this restaurant. Let's call it "artsy". Food is very fresh. I've been there twice and the service has always been attentive and friendly. Don't try to walk in. Get a reservation.
Delicious, lively venue, staff attentive and incredibly patient as always. Three stars simply because I like to dine here on my own and never get to get a table but a stool squeezed between two by the uncomfortable counter next to the entrance. Besides, it’s winter, cold and venue always packed as customers rather wait inside and there’s little room around the till.
The fact that some of us dine alone shouldn’t be an excuse not to be offered a better seat given that the bill is a ‘paint-point’ for everyone, regardless..... Thank you.
Really nice restaurant with fantastic staff. Food was excellent apart from the batter on both the crispy squid and the cod which should have been better than it was. Be aware that the prices are higher than those shown on the menu visible on OpenTable (This is something they really need to sort out)
We went for the first time with a friend visiting from the US. Was not sure what to expect but was pleasantly surprised. We enjoyed our classic cod and chips. Staff were also accommodating with request to substitute for cheese truffle chips. We were less impressed by the wine. Not bad, just not good either. Left very full indeed.
Amazing fish & chips, but also the crab toast and the desserts were delicious. Service was perfect. Reservation is recommended because there are always people waiting outside.
Hands down the best F&C’s in London.
From top to bottom the quality of the ingredients and cooking set it apart from anywhere else.
Both the Cod & Haddock are the best I’ve ever had in a chippy, same for the chips/battered sausage and sauces.
Doesn’t really get much better.
Food was lovely however, I am coeliac and ordered the fried halloumi with chips and curry sauce. I Asked if they were cooked separately and all I was told was that they are gluten free which didn’t really answer my question. Later that evening I had severe tummy pain and sickness (all feelings I’ve had when I’ve been ‘glutened’).
I feel they maybe weren’t as careful as they should’ve been in the kitchen. A shame because the food was lovely and my boyfriend who isn’t coeliac really enjoyed it.
Delicious fish and chips and excellent service. Great value for money.
Tiny and narrow space, but in a cool neighborhood-like spot that's not far from shopping. A great place for a quick fish and chip and a drink for a SMALL group (2 - 3). Could be a quick place to grab a bite after work/school. Food was very good for the limited available menu. They know what they do, and do that well. Not much wrong with that.
Great food, location and service. Can't fault it. I was particularly impressed with tartare sauce.
Once again Mayfair Chippy was wonderful ! The staff are all very friendly and nice, the atmosphere warm and inviting , and the fish and chip the best in town .
I'll be back , whenever I'm in London . Travel from Canada on a regular basis.
Entertaining an Australian friend who has Coeliac disease. She requested traditional fish and chips in London but objc needed gluten free. Cant recommend Mayfair Chippy highly enough. The mushy pease are to die for. Batter light and chips delicious. Apparently the gluten free batter was also excellent.
We wanted traditional fish and chips, everything about it exceeded our expectations. Excellent quality food. Superb service.
