The Marlborough Tavern
Food is essentially, though not slavishly, English in character and takes advantage of locally sourced produce wherever possible. Its food reputation is matched by their service - always friendly and attentive without being intrusive, and there's an extensive wine list and selection of local ales to choose from. The Marlborough's pub garden is arguably Bath’s finest; a walled courtyard space, that’s perfect for summertime lunching and drinking.

A really enjoyable lunch, with good service -thanks!
Lovely festive ambiance, great food coupled with excellent and friendly service. Looking forward to going back with this nightmare ends!
They made a real effort to ensure the place opened safely but still has a good atmosphere. The food and drinks were of the same standard as we have always had at the Marlborough Tavern.
Lovely pub, with great atmosphere and friendly staff. Will be back!
We always have a great meal when we visit every Christmas. The staff and food was delicious unfortunately we were seated on a table which was very cramped and uncomfortable table 4 hopefully next Christmas could get a by table.
Although we were expecting the Christmas menu (which was somewhat disappointing that we didn’t get it) we can’t really complain, as the food was fantastic, and we literally had a Christmas dinner anyway.
It was one of the best roasts we’ve ever had anywhere. We’ve eaten in this restaurant before but this lunch was by far the best meal we’ve ever had here. Congratulations to all the chefs, and to our waiter who was lovely.
We had a lovely enjoyable Christmas Eve lunch, thank you!
Great service, COVID secure but still friendly feel to the pub. Yummy Christmas menu!
Chloe has served us 2/3 times and is amazing
Excellent meal in a relaxed part of town. Food was delicious and the staff friendly. We’d definitely return!
Delicious Sunday roast and wine-a treat we haven’t had for a while. The service was great-polite, helpful and unobtrusive. Lovely environment!
Great as always thank you.
I was a little disappointed. The food is not cheap and it was not worth the money. Imagination over execution. I had the celeriac and parsnip hash browns. They had been drenched in a very sweet sauce, I think it was the sauce in which the mushrooms had been cooked. The whole dish had a cloying sweetness, it was inedible. I did mention it to the waiter, who spoke to the chef, the waiter came back and informed me that there was no added sweetness to the hash browns but celeriac and parsnips are sweet. So not only did I not have any dinner I was told that the overpowering sweetness of the dish was because of the basic ingredients not the lashings of dark sweet sauce all over the hash browns! Anyway my son’s pudding was free. The Brussel sprouts side was horrible. Overcooked sprouts with a sort of bacony crumb. No one asked why we hadn’t eaten that. However the scallops and the hake, I am told were delicious. The kids liked the burgers. I am also slightly perplexed by being required to take drinks and cutlery off the trays ourselves when they will obviously have been put on the trays by the wait staff beforehand? Anyway that’s a very picky point. It was nice to go out as a family but overall I was underwhelmed by the food and overwhelmed by the price.
As always The Marlborough Tavern exceeds itself and provides the very very best in gastro pub food and drink. The staff are always first class and super professional. The Cornish Skate dish was truly sublime and an absolute joy to eat. We are already booking our next trip!
Amazing as always, food gets better and better every time. 11/10 would recommend to a friend
Met our high expectations!
We haven't visited The Marlborough Tavern for some time but were very pleased that it was as good as we remembered!
Dog friendly which makes a long walk with the dog more enjoyable as there is a good meal at the end.
We both had the Fish and Chips which was really very good.
Sadly we also had the car so couldn't sample the impressive sounding cocktails but will do next time.
Lovely meal during a birthday weekend break. Would not hesitate to recommend & will definitely return in the future. Thank you & compliments to the chef
Good Service and covid considerations . Food ok .. Hake Good...chef at the Malbrough are great .. but Menu: everyone has burgers ,steak and fish and chips on the menu and the first 2 one can easily do at home . Get more variety please, that’s why people go out !! Not for easy to do at home in 10 mins . or fish and chip take away stuff . Happy Christmas . N
Lovely lighting and atmosphere; nice and warm but not too hot.
Food delicious and well presented. Sprouts undercooked!
The food was lovely, had a lamb roast which was cooked perfectly. The sprouts were slightly undercooked however they along with the rest of the veg were seasoned really well.
The service was excellent.
We really enjoyed our meal.
We are used to a high standard at this Gastropub. COVID may have resulted in a more limited menu. I was disappointed with the beef which was well done not medium rare. There was too much gravy and too much red cabbage. I fear that the roasts are not cooked from fresh, I do hope this is incorrect and a one off experience. A bit disappointed too with the lemon posset. Usually there is an excellent crumble on the menu.
Honestly absolutely loved this place!!!
So cute and feels like a proper country pub with absolutely incredible food.
Best food we’ve had this year! Will defo be back!
So lovely to be back at The MT! Staff could not have been more pleased to see us and help us with the latest set of guidelines. Everything else was as expected - great service, wonderful food and wine and a very pleasant, festive vibe. Thoroughly enjoyed our evening.
Great ambiance , lovely staff .
Would like more smaller meals to choose from .
I had the Hake it was really good .
We are regulars so will definitely be cal soon .
Very good food, friendly service and a relaxed atmosphere with all thing’s considering.
Best fish and chips I’ve had in along time - light crisp batter, triple fried chips and home made tartare
Just a really great festive Christmas lunch. We only needed one course as there was so much lovely food
Never been disappointed with the MT. Day one after a month long lockdown and they were still able to offer a full menu with top quality food.
The food was really good, I had mushroom arancini (never had that before) and pagers & mash. My wife had a game terrine and a fish. All very good.
Lovely food, especially the lemon meringue posset, very good
Fantastic staff and a top-notch Sunday roast dinner!
Great pub and lunch venue, have been many times and they always do a great roast. Was a bit off par on this occasion however, perhaps it was the 5pm slot that was between lunch and dinner, but the food was a little cold and some of the veg over cooked.
We were seriously impressed by the quality of the pub.... best roast I've ever had!
Excellent sunday roast and great service, as always.
Excellent food in a great location. Highly recommend the ruby burger!
The Marlborough Tavern is always a great choice. Great food, service and atmosphere. Even Covid can’t spoil it!
Waiters took great care to be socially distant and were very friendly and polite. We had steak that was beautifully cooked then the chocolate bronie with salted caramel ice-cream absolutely delicious.
Very well cooked pub staples with nice service and sensible not overbearing safety measures.
