The Mariner Restaurant
houses one of the most exciting places to dine in this area. Our new restaurant has been totally transformed, revamped and refurbished to reflect our position on the banks of the River Clyde and blends style and excitement.
If you are attending a concert or event, Crowne Plaza Glasgow offers you some of the best options to eat near the SECC and the SSE Hydro. You will be able to soak up the buzz in the hotel before your event and then walk the short distance to the SSE Hydro, or use of our exclusive covered walkway to the SECC.
The food we offer is eclectic and interesting, whether you opt for the seafood platter or the more traditional 8oz sirloin steak, all are served with great attention to detail and in a fabulous setting.
Whatever the reason, there’s no better place to dine. Treat someone you love to an intimate meal for two or visit with friends and family for a special occasion.
Poor quality of food and wine slow service, not much room at the table really close to next table
A lovely meal with great staff and wonderful views across the Clyde. Looking forward to returning soon
Absolutely wonderful staff - friendly and attentive - good choice of dishes - good wine list - tasty food
Great Birthday Party, thanks again to all the staff. Especially J J. Kelly.Brad. And a big thanks to GARRY.
The staff are always very welcoming and attentive. I've eaten here a number of times and they have never been under staffed.
The food is nice and fresh, never over cooked. Some of the specials have been very good, for example Chef Marian's chicken and bacon burger, which was cooked to perfection and had great flavours.
I travel a lot with work, often four nights away each week and I'd place the food here very near the top of the hotel restaurants I eat at.
Brilliant meal again, staff first class especially Kelly. Well done on your promotion.
Once again meal brilliant, new menu coming soon. Can’t wait to try it out.
Brilliant meal again, thanks to all the staff. Especially Brad one of many chefs.👏
Excellent and humorous service; delicious food; fast but not rushed. For hotel restaurant it was just great.
Simple the Best. Food, Service, Staff, Crowne Plaza. Simple the Best in Scotland.
One of the best restaurants, don’t tell everyone as i mite not get a table. Staff excellent .
Great service. The restaurant is spacious and light. We had the all inclusive buffet (which includes one cavery joint), which was well presented, with lots of variety. One of the party is vegetarian and she found plenty to fill her plate!
There was plenty of time to relax and we never felt rushed.
Great choice of food from either the Hot Table or the A La Carte menu. A good place to eat if attending any event at The Hydro.
Food was very tasty and good sized portions. Staff were not willing to accommodate any requests not on the menu I.e. not willing to ask the kitchen for a baked potato instead of those on offer. Mixed up the food order between the two of us who were dining. Service was quite slow. Have eaten there before and had a better experience
It was my mum’s birthday the day we went to the restaurant & on arriving she was wished a happy birthday & was given a complimentary sweet what an amazing touch. We will definitely be back.
Myself and 3 friends were attending a concert at nearby Hydro, so chose to eat here for convenience. We ordered mains only. 2 had 'caesar salads' one fish and chips and one cauliflower tart.
My 'caesar' salad consisted of a small handful of lettuce, I counted 3 croutons, a small sliver of crisp bacon... No anchovies, I added chicken( dry and tough) to my order. This tiny tiny tiny salad would be considered small even as a starter. So I believe it cost just under £15....shocking!!! An absolute rip off. On plus side fish and chips reported to be good and much better value.
Won't be back!
Service was good. Lady on reception was also super helpful. Foodwise for me personally was a bit of a miss as there were only two plant based main options, quinoa salad and a cauliflower curry. Opted for the salad which was ok but a tad on the bland side and not hugely filling,
Service was super. Food was very tasty and served quickly but not too quickly to be rushed. Reasonable price for quality of food.
Great location for eats before a show, both afternoon tea & dinner. Gluten free options clearly identified, even dessert (not a fruit salad in sight....). Staff knowledgeable & friendly. Good value for money too.
Service and food was excellent, thoroughly enjoyed our meal.
The restaurant has around 10 staff working and not one with a clue what they are doing, I ordered a chicken Kiev and waited 55 minutes for it to come out under cooked. My mother in law and sister had fish and chips which was soggy and disappointing. I also had to ask twice where our drinks were and also for my starter. I wouldn’t go back or recommend.
Afternoon tea with friends, great value & great for coeliacs as gluten free options were delicious!
Lovely environment great staff very helpful. Food was excellent.
As a non meat eater the buffet is poor apart from the salad. I do eat fish and it was awful- dry and tasteless. Could this be cooked at the time at the buffet to keep it fresh?
Food was ok, service was ok, I would use it again but mainly due to convenience.
We have come to dine here a handful of times and always found the food, price and general feel of the place to be very good. Even though you now have to pay £5.00 for 5 hours instead of free parking when you dine, it is still good value when dining before popping over to the Hydro for a concert... will continue to dine here when an event arises.
The food was at best average and not hot. The restaurant was drafty and uncomfortable. The staff were however friendly.
Presented with an a la carte menu or hot buffet options but when we ordered from the menu we were told we would need to wait for up to an hour for any main course even though we were the only people in the restaurant. Other diners got the same message. We could have accepted this if the chef had been sick/injured/drunk but the reason we got was that they were just about to get busy. The only way to eat within a reasonable timescale was the 1970’s style buffet. You could take as much as you liked but the quality and variety were poor. With the bill coming to £58 for two we expected better. We won’t be going back.
Excellent pre-theatre menu at £20 per head with a starter and an extensive buffet main. Choices from the (multi visit if hungry enough!) buffet were extensive and delicious and we couldn’t fault the food. Staff were also great and very attentive without being overbearing. All-in-all a great meal and highly recommended.
Had Dinner sat 26/1/19 before going to Boyzone Concert Mariner as very busy and noisy 40 mins wait for food but were informed of this on arrival food was very good and the staff done exceptionaly well with the amount of diners on that night would definately go again Cocktails were very good also
Nice food, we opted for the dinner for 2 from the buffet. Sadly, the restaurant is in essence the hotel lobby, and the Intercontinental Group are obviously trying to save electricity and avoid heating. Ruined a perfectly nice meal. I feel sorry for the staff who were working in that environment.
Woman scottish served us very aburt not helpful another male member of staff lively to us he picked up on the bad feelin ahe put on our group.too confusion with start off this go upoo get ur main desert 3 pound supp or pickboff other menu... 2 cakes that was desert. It was a wedding gift we were given the vocher for 2 nite stay meal sat nite .
The service in the restaurant was very poor. I could write lots of comments. However, from start to finish it was a disaster, the food was actually fine, just took an age to come. There doesn’t appear to be any leadership in the restaurant, staff avoid eye contact, so ordering and paying for food / drinks was difficult. Worst I’ve ever experienced.
Once again there was no record of my request for wheelchair access despite my request at the time of booking. Service was very slow and the pork on the buffet was inedible because it was so over cooked. Other items were ok though. The parking charge is disappointing too.
It was nice as usual but strange to get an email to say we hadn’t turned up! Booking procedures need tightened up.
Staff were good, food was ok.
Fish and chips were greasy, but lamb was tasty but portion was small
Service was good . We had the buffet menu and the choice was good with a number of different meat and vegetable dishes available.
Hardest Place to Find in Glasgow until you phone only to find out its the Crown Plaza!!! Why is there no Sign for the restaurant and why did Open Table not tell us that it was the Crown Plaza VVV Annoying walking around for 20 mins looking for the Mariners Restaurant... Sort it out guys... Food was good quality but V Small portions!
We’ve been to the restaurant before and hoped the standard was still good and it was. Staff are an asset the food is lovely great choice for main course at the self service and starters were excellent. And a mug of coffee as opposed to a wee cup greatly appreciated. Red house wine was very good too.
Superb value for money and a great pre show venue.
Buffet a bit odd....strange mixture / combinations. What we had was nice but nothing better than you could make yourself
