The Manor - Terrace Lounge A la Carte Dining
The most amazing food I have ever had. It was too die for!! Expensive but well worth every penny!!
Always an enjoyable place however I wish they would add more fish to the menu. Too much red meat.
Clientele has changed alot, but it's not the Manors fault. Guy next to us was wearing a a short sleeve shirt, in a la carte. I remember when this was not acceptable & neither were flip flops. Some restaurants should try to uphold the formal dining experience for those who enjoy it. Caaual diners have thousands of other options. This guy clearly wouldn't know what business casual means, he was ready for the movies or gast food. Not a high end dining experience. But the food is always fantastic & the service was very good. They did not rush us, thank god, as has happened before. Got served bread with no butter on the table & had to flag them down for it & a couple other things but not a deal breaker. Also no "happy birthday" written on dessert plate, first time that has ever happened & we go every year for my daughters birthday. The filet mignon is incredibly delicious every single time. We will be back.
Overall the experience was ehhh...
Piano in background was nice. Staff seemed uneducated on buffet items and server was unorganized, ima me to advise how a dish was prepared. Probably wouldn't revisit.
My husband and I celebrated our anniversary with the Romantic Getaway offered by the Manor. Overnight accommodations at the adjacent Marriott and a lovely meal with wines was part of the package.
We enjoyed the appetizers of escargot and chilled seafood platter, Caesar salad, chateaubriand, and banana flambé. The food was superb and the service was impeccable. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
Always a lovely dinner.
Elegant service, delicious food. A jacket was not required on the night we visited but most patrons donned them anyway. That's the kind of place it was. A pianist was playing in the center of the room, my wife of 42 years new most of the songs.
The food is delicious and the service was great
The food and the service were great.
Looking forward to my next occasion to have another great meal.
Our favorite spot for special occasions. You get what you pay for, fine dining with class.
The Manor in West Orange NJ is a classic old world elegant dining experience. For thirty years I've been going the food is five star, the service outstanding. Always enjoy the tableside preparation of Ceasar Salad, the real thing...Beef Wellington served medium rare...Banana flambe also prepared tableside. Dining here, is an event. The piano in the center of the circular terrace room provides the old world charm. Some things never change and in this case it's a good thing.
Excellent food and service. Well worth it
Sometimes what you get is worth what you pay for it! We were celebrating a family reunion that might not have happened. The food, the service, the ambiance complimented our mood exactly.
Went for my parents 40th anniversary, who were married here, with a group of 7 on a "Wine Wednesday". Everything was perfect. We've done the old lobster buffet several times, which we loved but is now closed. So we tried the Terrace Lounge instead. Wow, what a great experience!!! Service was outstanding, table was ready on time for our reservation, the food was outstanding, and the ambiance was great. They had a pianist playing throughout dinner. We were not rushed at all and sat for about three hours. Wednesdays you can bring your own wine, which we did (5 bottles!). It was great because the wine we brought would have easily cost us between $800-$1000 in restaurant prices, we paid about $225 at the store. Although we still had a large bill at the end, but you get what you pay for!! Just be aware you need to dress nicely!!! Only criticism is the decor, although beautiful, shows it's age. But then again those old chairs are so damn comfy! Great job to the waiters, chefs, and management, a true classic gem!!!
The ambience was wonderful. You don't see restaurants anymore like this one. The food was excellent.
Service was good but we were there for 3 hours which seems like a long time. It was Easter so I understand, but I think it should have been no more than 2 hours.
The finest and classist restaurant in New Jersey. The food is first rate. The ambiance is unmatched.
I’ve been to the Manor many times for special occasions. It’s always been expensive, so I knew that going in. Even so, I was shocked at the current prices. Average entree (not a lot of choices FYI) about 45.00 I ordered the Rack of Lamb. (55.00!) The meal was two medium size pieces. Ordered it medium, came out rare, but I kept it. Total meal was approximately 5-6 bites.
It was disgusting. I couldn’t find a bite without fat. I’d say the 2 servings were greater than 50% fat. It was a family event so I said nothing. Otherwise I would have told them to take it back. The good news is I don’t want to see meat for a long time.
Food, service, ambiance great but be prepared to spend a pretty penny. We received gift coins which valued $150 & our meal for 2 was double. Steak was perfect, crab lobster cakes perfect, my honey enjoyed the mushroom soup & please dont leave there without having their Irish coffee 😋
It was absolutely the best dinner. We have enjoyed a few Valentine's days there as well. Bon appetit
Food was delicious. Service was outstanding. And staff could not be more professional and friendly. Superb for a special occasion.
What a wonderful evening accompanied by fantastic service. My partner and I chose The Manor for our anniversary celebration. He was so blown away and said it was "the fanciest place" he had ever been to for dinner. We sat in front of the piano and noticed that everyone was made to feel like the center of attention. Servers were accommodating, kind, and informative. After dinner, we danced at "The Dome" for disco night. 10 out of 10 I would visit again. Thank you for making our night feel so special.
Our entire expetience was enjoyable. We chose the right time and really enjoyed the experience.
Thank you for service and life music. It was our first time and me love it. Great service and food.
Everything was excellent. Highly recommend. A wonderful experience.
Four wine collectors completely enjoyed a wonderful evening of artful food, expert service, an elegant atmosphere and special wines from our own cellars on a Wednesday night when you can byo with no corkage. Third time dining there in as many months, plan to go back soon.
The Manor has changed. The atmosphere is dead since they closed the buffet portion. Service lacked. It's evident that morale is down since most of their staff was fired. Bartender was arrogant. I'll never go back. I honestly believe they are on the cusp of closing, at least that's how it appeared. An empty parking lot says a lot. It's a sad day for the Manor. -- On the upside... food is still fantastic....
45 mins waiting even though I had a reservation.
Inexperienced waiters that got changed 3 times.
Waiters unaware of the waters (sparkling, non sparkling, tab, mineral) available at the restaurant.
We ended up starting dinner at 9:30PM
The Manor is a great place to enjoy a relaxing evening. The atmosphere is relaxing, the music and overall decor is romantic.
I had the special sirloin steak and lobster tail, and it was worth every penny. Lovely place.
The food was good, but NOT for the cost... We actually felt like we were in the movie Caddy Shack... This was a Christmas Gift present from my wife’s two boys. They spent $150.00 on the gift certificate, I dropped another $100.00 on top of that including tip. My wife had a Martini and a glass of wine, I had one Corona beer. We had nothing extravagant for entree’s... I think they have a huge overhead...
We had a wonderful evening on Saturday night Feb 2 celebrating my wife's birthday. My wife had the scallops and I had the filet.
We also had the mesculin salad and Carpaccio and split the chocolate mousse tort for desert. All of them were excellent.
We enjoyed the piano player (Steve) who played a number of our requests including tunes from the Rolling Stones, Beatles, Billy Joel among others. The service was excellent.
Once in awhile it is nice to enjoy fine dining. We'll be back.
Service was outstanding and food was delicious! Loved the piano player too. Truly perfect for a special occasion.
I wanted my husband to have a special 60th birthday dinner and I chose the perfect place. Everything was wonderful- the service, the food, the ambiance-perfection. I recommend The Manor for any special occasion but going there makes any day special. Thank you so much for such a lovely evening.
Probably an off night for the Manor. It was a Thursday night and not busy at all. The waiter presented menus and went over the specials.
We ordered appetizers, shrimp cocktail and short rib ravioli to share. It took over 30 minutes to arrive. The shrimp were watery and hard and the ravioli was cold. Both sent back. They replaced the ravioli and gave us Tuna as the replacement shrimp would have been the same quality which wasn’t acceptable. Tuna was very good as were the ravioli. However we didn’t want Tuna. Fortunately they comped both appetizers so no harm or foul.
Main courses now took an additional 40 minutes to arrive. I had the duck, excellent and my wife had filet also excellent.
However at this point we were seated over 2 hours. There were only 3 other tables all night. Service was incredibly slow.
The manager did comp off a glass of wine and the apps so they did the correct thing.
The food was as always excellent but my lower rating is due to the apps in the first place and how slow the service was on a night where there were only 5 tables with people total.
We will go back again however as we were treated correctly for the circumstances.
Excellent dinning experience. We will return the next special occasion that needs celebrating.
It was an awesome experience, celebrating my son birthday
Beautiful restaurant and amazing food!
Very classic fine dining. Great service and food, but not cheap. Atmosphere is "classic" style. Dress code is loosely enforced, and appears to just focus on men's shirts.
