The Guinea is a Mayfair institution; there’s been an Inn on this site since 1423. Our restaurant, the Guinea Grill opened in 1952. We specialise in serving dry aged, grass fed English beef from an open grill. You’ll find a selection of Young’s Ales at the bar and our atmospheric private dining room is perfect for up to 28 people.

We’re ideally located just a short walk away from Green Park, Bond Street and Oxford Circus tube stations.

Great steak restaurant and the pies are pretty immense. Really enjoyed this old school London pub dining experience. The quality and variety of meat options is really good.

The Guinea Grill is probably one of the most historical gastropubs I've been to. Built in 1423 as an inn and then transformed into a restaurant in 1953. Decor is still very dated, almost kept to it's old school setting with it's numerous of old paintings lined across the wall and an old green banquette below it in which we were seated. All the tables and seats were tightly put together, quite cosy. We were even greeted by a nice gentleman wearing a Victorian green tailcoat. Service was great throughout.

Sadly food was pretty average apart from everything cooked on the grill. We started on Eggs Royale which was okay. Salmon was a little too salty for my liking though and muffin a little dense.

Then we move onto our lamb grill, which was almost a breakfast dish, containing all the usual breakfast items along with one lamb chop, a lamb rib and lamb kidneys. There was definitely no effort on presentation, everything slabbed on our plate. For £26 it was very pricey for the portion, half of one mushroom, one tomato, a small sausage and egg. I do wish we got more of the lamb rib and lamb chop as they were delicious. Both of them grilled to perfection, butter knife tender with a great bite. Everything else was the standard affair.
We were quite disappointed with the pork belly roast. Although the trimmings were lovely, a nice giant fluffy Yorkshire pudding, fluffy roast potatoes, nice roasted veg and freshly steamed kale, we were in it for the pork. Sadly that itself was quite dry and boring and needed the gravy for it to be moist enough to enjoy.
We also ordered a side of beef dripping chips. Now these were good, chunky, fluffy and packed full of flavour. A must order.
I do believe all the ingredients were to the highest of standards but just wasn't executed to their fullest potential. Saying that, it was nice to experience an old traditional pub restaurant.

Great spot but was a bit disappointed with the pie. It was an individual one but was very dry. The old style way of serving from a huge tray seems to have changed sadly.

The steak was surprisingly good and the prices are very fair for Mayfair/Marylebone

Fantastic meal at the Guinea as always. One of my favourites. Was seated upstairs which was initially disappointing but the room was full in 20 minutes and it is actually a very pleasant room.
Will be back for more!

Dickensian gem in the centre of Mayfair, great steaks and pies, attentive service at the back of a well frequented public house, with proper beer and IPA. It’s not cheap, but feels historic, go if you feel flush.

Food great but, at these prices, having a mere 6 inch gap between tables is ridiculous. Conversation is virtually impossible - the noise being the only thing that aids any confidentiality......that is, unless you speak loud enough to be heard by your companion!

Always a good steak done the correct way. Don’t expect to have an intimate or business discussion because the tables are pretty close, but at least you can “sample” what others are having.

They have an interesting serving system with multiple hand-offs which seem a little strange for a smaller place, but it seems to work-don’t expect to make a new friend. But we go for the steaks and the sides don’t disappoint either. Everyone I have taken there always comes away with “that was one of the best steaks I have ever eaten in London” quote.

Great pies but the format has changed in recent years as they are now served in a dish so its only pastry on the top and not the sides . Maybe for health reason that makes sense. Wonderful ale house.

Super place , lots of charm with a fantastic original pub and small rear restaurant which has a lovely buzz. Traditional but well cooked and very good feeling about the place . In a news just off Berkeley square with lots of space to stand out side in good weather.

Second visit. This time we were very squashed up having asked for a specific table which I later noticed was empty. I also asked for extra potatoes and fewer parsnips. I got three potatoes and a huge plate of parsnips. The wine was vastly overcharged. These issues got sorted out but I needed to complain first. It's expensive for a Sunday roast but worth it when they do it properly but this time they didn't. This was many due to poor service.

I love the Guinea, I must have been 10 times, they have the best steaks and pies that you could wish for. Great beers and wine selection and very knowledgeable staff.

I do wish they would improve the gent’s toilet, it is not fitting for such a nice place.

This was a disappointing experience, where there were no salads available at 7:30 in the evening. The meal was OK, but the vegetables poor - only prepared with sauces and nothing steamed. Markedly overpriced.

Very close tables with a noisy drunk woman opposite who lifted up her sweater at one point to reveal all! Not nice.
Meat pie was tasty, but I can do as well if not better myself. Fish was good quality but again poor value. Wine was extremely expensive for what it was. Lovely waiters working in difficult conditions. So 5* for service and 2* for the rest. No privacy, noisy and over-priced.

A perennial favourite Gastropub in Mayfair, the dining room has a Dickensian feel, the food is straight down the fairway but very well cooked. The oyster are a bargain, the steaks are perfectly executed, the wine list is expensive. Overall this Inn is a gem, amongst the high end but not so good dining scene in Mayfair.

The starters were only average, in particular the crab cocktail which had a strange taste and the asparagus which was disappointing bearing in mind this IS the asparagus season. The filet steak and the steak, kidney and mushroom pie were both very good and well cooked but the side dishes of cauliflower cheese and mashed potatoes were just ordinary. Service was pleasant and attentive. Overall, we felt our our meal was expensive for what it was and disappointing in a dining room that was virtually empty and which we found to be characterless. We do not intend to return.

This was a great find. On Easter week when pubs were shut stumbled upon The Guinea in Mayfair. This is a steak house for steak eaters dressed in appropriate Mayfair livery, literally. The ambiance was sublime, the steaks were done to perfection and the way that were ordered, service was attentive but not over the top. This was the second time we went to the Guinea as we felt that it was the best and friendliest restaurant that we went to and that includes the Ivy and its Dover Sole Meuniere that is nearly off this planet.

P.S. The Guinea did not have the Open Table reservation but were still able to fit us in. . . . thankfully.
