We have had afternoon tea in many places and were saving the Georgian Room for something special. We chose today in celebration of back to school. The room itself is beautiful, large windows, beautiful chandeliers, linen tablecloths. Really lovely. We were seated with menus but it took quite a while for a server to arrive to take our drink orders. Once our tea arrived and food shortly after, though, we were happily involved in conversation and enjoying the food, which was good, but not exceptional. Except the carrot cake, probably the best I've had. One of our guests had ordered a drink other than tea and didn't care for it. We had to flag someone down to get water refills and upon hearing our guest did not care for her drink responded with "that's unfortunate." It would have been nice to have been offered a substitution. We again had to flag someone to get our check (which graciously did not include the drink). Overall it was nice, but lacking the service and attention to detail I would have expected from The Fairmont.
I like the environment, the setting. But didn't enjoy the food
Food is very average
Afternoon tea at the Georgian was an elegant and peaceful reprieve from the constant "go, go, go" pace traveling in Seattle. Service was superb and the ambiance was luxurious.
The Georgian has a beautiful dining room with great ambiance and comfort. Some things look a little run down, but overall it is elegant. We went for afternoon tea. The berries with panna cotta came out first. They were delicious and had great presentation. The scones came next and were flaky and tasty. Two of the vegetarian sandwiches were done well but the others weren't very creative. I imagine the meat and smoked salmon sandwiches were better. The service was friendly and attentive but not over-bearing. The only negative I can say is that it took 30 minutes to get one of the drinks. We had tea and water so we weren't left completely wanting, but we were told it would be about 5 minutes for the cocktail to arrive. After those 5 minutes were up they checked back in to say it would be out soon, then nothing for about 20 minutes when it finally arrived. They didn't make any mention about the delay and we didn't ask, like I said we had other things to drink, but it kind of changed the experience. Overall would totally recommend and hope to return again.
Thank you very much for your thoughtful and informative review. We really appreciate the feedback. While I'm glad you enjoyed most of your experience, I apologize for the long wait for your drinks and will be sure to review this with staff. We do hope you will give us another opportunity to serve you. Mike West, Director of Food & Beverage
Went for afternoon tea, it was such a great experience! Would definitely go back again.

Great Seattle GEM for afternoon tea! Perfect for special occasion.
Thank you for joining us for Afternoon Tea at The Georgian and for the recommendation. We hope you will dine with us again soon. Mike West, Director of Food & Beverage
Everything about Afternoon Tea at the Georgian was absolutely wonderful. Let's start with the service -- I was treated like an honored guest during each phase of the tea. The food -- each succulent bite was a work of art. This event is now on my "must do" list each time I visit Seattle.
What an honor for us to be on your "must do" list! We are truly appreciative and thank you for writing a lovely review. We hope your next visit will be in the not-too-distant future. Gratefully, Mike West, Director of Food & Beverage
Great food and service. The restaurant is beautiful but the serving sizes are small, especially for the price.
Thank you for dining with us at the Georgian. We're glad you enjoyed the food and service. We appreciate all feedback and will take your comments into consideration. Gratefully, Mike West, Director of Food & Beverage
The Georgian is always an elegant option for our birthday lunch celebration tradition. Thank you for the thoughtful chocolate-dipped strawberries.
Happy Birthday, again, from The Georgian! Thank you for choosing to celebrate your special day with us and for sharing your thoughts. We wish you a wonderful year ahead. Mike West, Director of Food & Beverage
It was a truly lovely experience, the meal, presentation and ambiance were remarkable! My only suggestion would be to change the plate/place settings in between servings.
We are so pleased you enjoyed your time in The Georgian and appreciate that you shared your experience. Thank you for the excellent suggestion as well. Please come visit us again soon. Mike West, Director of Food & Beverage
We went for High Tea. The service and atmosphere were both fabulous. Our only disappointment, which really isn’t a big deal, is that valet parking was pretty expensive and not validated with the tea. We brought three generations of Aunts and Nieces and it was a special day we won’t soon forget.
Thank you for choosing The Georgian to celebrate your special day with three generations! We hope everyone enjoyed Afternoon Tea and that we will have the pleasure of welcoming you back very soon. Mike West, Director of Food & Beverage
Fancy place to have some afternoon tea. Loved that’s they brought the food with breaks. Made a perfect atmosphere to enjoy conversation and not just eat.
Thank you for enjoying the Afternoon Tea experience with us at The Georgian. We really appreciate your comments and hope you will return again. Mike West, Director of Food & Beverage
Went there for our wedding anniversary and the staff made it a very pleasant experience. We expected a high end afternoon tea and they didn’t disappoint, we are very pleased with their service.
Thank you for choosing to celebrate your wedding anniversary with us at The Georgian and allowing us to participate in making it a pleasant experience. Congratulations and we hope you will join us to celebrate again in the years ahead. Mike West, Director of Food & Beverage
Afternoon Tea at The Georgian is an elegant experience largely due to the comfortable Georgian style interior decoration. The savory food and the tea are excellent. The sweets were not great. I have had the pleasure of having Afternoon Tea at The Fairmont Empress in Victoria recently and the sweet desserts are much more refined and sophisticated where you can taste the essence of raspberry, Earl Grey or whatever is in the sweet desserts. The Georgian Afternoon Tea sweet desserts contain too much sugar and not enough flavor and I only had a morsel of each; I could barely taste the matcha tea, raspberry, or orange flavors in the desserts. Service is excellent. Noise level is ok. Some live music would be great. I was also surprised at the number of women who wore very interesting hats with their lovely dresses. Very nice place and I would return for sure.
Thank you for your honest and detailed review. Your feedback is valuable and helps inform our decisions. We are pleased you enjoyed the ambiance and service and hope you will return and try our menu again. We are preparing for a seasonal change soon. Again, thank you for taking the time to share. We stayed at the classic Fairmont Olympic Hotel, opened in 1924. Impressive breakfast buffet in elegant formal dining room setting with chandeliers (although service was friendly, not stuffy. We particularly loved the roasted potatoes, the lavender honey from the rooftop beehives. Good homemade granola yogurt parfaits and berry parfaits. Excellent high-quality pastries for a hotel buffet. Kudos to the pastry chef: terrific Pecan buns and Almond danish. Good coffee, too. High-quality smoked salmon befitting Seattle (salmon display needs to be spread out with more space so that people can serve themselves bagels and condiments; traffic at the line was congested). We loved our server Krissia from El Salvador; she was delightful, and clearly loves her job and co-workers here. And good support, chemistry and teamwork with Arnoldo, originally from the same village. We will definitely return.
Thank you for choosing The Georgian for breakfast during your stay at the Fairmont Olympic. We appreciate your kind words and for taking the time to share your experience. And thank you, especially, for mentioning Krissia and Arnoldo. I will be sure they see your review. We look forward to welcoming you back to The Georgian on your next visit. Mike West, Director of Food & Beverage
Good ambiance and straightforward reliable food. Service was a little disappointing given it bills itself as a premium restaurant. We mentioned to staff rest of the party was arriving but when they arrived there was no one to seat us... Waited several minutes till a waiter saw us and came over. Our waiter was a little pushy on upselling sides and drinks. Other than that, it was fine.
Thank you for choosing to dine with us at The Georgian. We're glad you enjoyed the ambiance and food, but apologize that the service did not meet your expectation. We appreciate the feedback and will share your experience with the staff. We hope you will give us another opportunity soon. Mike West, Director of Food & Beverage
I loved the afternoon tea here few weeks ago with my niece so I brought mom here again from out of town. I will have to say..... Fairmont doesn’t disappoint!
Mom was so impressed with the building, the decors and flowers! Then we walked into the Georgian and it was so grand and elegant. She was feeling like a celebrity and million dollars ! She was smiling and enjoying her surroundings. The waitstaff was fantastic once again! And Jorge recognized me from several weeks ago and stopped by our table to greet us! That’s some classy act! Sokun was sweet serving us. We were well taken care of the time we walked into the hotel till we walked out. Oh, and the tea sandwiches and sweets were all beautiful and delicious. Just want to write this review to Jorge for the special treatment and the rest of the wait staff at tea. I will be back for lunch ! Thank you once again for making mom feel so special.
We are so pleased to hear that your niece and mother enjoyed their visit to The Georgian for Afternoon Tea. Thank you for mentioning Jorge and Sokun. We are proud of them and appreciate their efforts, but your special recognition will be particularly meaningful. Again, we are grateful and appreciate your kind words. Mike West, Director of Food & Beverage
I view Georgian as the best location for out of town guests to meet for breakfast. It is pricey but well worth it
Wish you had served the chef's roof honey, not imported stuff.
Thank you for choosing to bring your guests to the Georgian. We are honored. Hopefully we will be able to harvest enough honey from our roof-top combs to serve guests. We appreciate your support in our efforts to have bees and a garden in the city. Mike West, Director of Food & Beverage
Always a pleasure! Will be back soon. My favorite aspect is the service - it is amazing!!
Thank you so much for your kind words and for taking the time to share. It is always a pleasure to receive positive feedback as we strive to continuously improve the quality of our services. We hope we can serve you again very soon. Mike West, Director of Food & Beverage
When I made this reservation to celebrate my 91-yr. old mother's birthday with afternoon tea, I mentioned that my mother uses a walker. I discussed this fact when I was called to verify the reservation, and also mentioned my nut allergies.
The Georgian Room is not ADA accessible. After paying for valet parking, we were asked to wait for someone from security to "escort" us to the Georgian room. The route is through a service corridor where spare elevator parts and recycling bins are kept. Upon exiting the elevators on the floor above, those in walkers or wheelchairs must navigate a ramp that seems too steep (I had to hold onto my mother to control her speed on the slope). The entry into the Georgian room is through a service door.
The tea we were served was not what we ordered. The waiter cheerfully then provided those we had ordered. We were served sandwiches and pastries with the nuts I had asked not be served. There seems to be a communication problem between the front of house management and the wait staff.
The restrooms are on a different level than this dining room, separated by three short flights of stairs. Again, security had to be called to accompany us the long route. Returning to the dining room requires a public elevator to the ground floor, then navigating back to the service corridor.
In all the experience was not representative to my previous visits to the San Francisco Fairmont, nor my visits to the Fairmont's historic property in San Jose. It was hard to appreciate the lovely dining room with such disrespect.
I took my mom there for afternoon tea, and we had a great time! I love the ambiance there and I like the choice of tea available there. As for food, savory sandwiches are pretty good, but the sweets are a bit too sweet and lack of flavor. Overall it's still great experience. Recommend!
We really appreciate your comments and thank you for taking the time to review your experience at The Georgian for Afternoon Tea. We hope you will consider us again for your next special occasion. Mike West, Director of Food & Beverage
The hall, in which the restaurant is, was amazing, better than in the pictures on OpenTable. The service was great and the tea and accompaniments were good. I was late to my reservation despite which I was accommodated (I called letting them know I'd be late). Their last reservation is at 2pm and they close to new guests at 2:30pm. The only gripe I had was with parking. They don't provide a discount or validate. In Vegas it was more expensive to park but I got half off the price due to validation.
Thank you for sharing about your Afternoon Tea experience. We appreciate that you took the time. I will take your comments about parking and pass them along. We hope you will return again very soon. Mike West, Director of Food & Beverage
Thank you for your comment. We think it's a spectacular room as well. We hope you can come visit again. Mike West, Director of Food & Beverage
We thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon tea at The Georgian Room. It is a quiet oasis amid a frenetic city, and we didn't feel rushed at all. Our server, Bonita (?) was helpful but now intrusive.
We are so pleased you enjoyed the lovely ambiance of the Georgian. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience and for mentioning your server. It is always a pleasure to receive positive feedback, so I will be sure to pass it along. Mike West, Food & Beverage Director
We have been staying at the Olympic for about 60 years. Yes, I first went with my parents when I was in grade school. One of the most beautiful dining rooms anywhere. Food good, but not great. Service was okay but again could have been better. Georgia at one time had professional staff, trained in restaurant service, nice staff but not the same attention to detail. After I had finished breakfast our plates were left on table for the remainder of the meal. I requested plain yogurt which took about 10 minutes. Expensive, should be better.
Thank you for taking the time to share your comments concerning your breakfast at The Georgian. Excellent service is what we strive to be known for; therefore your feedback is extremely important as it enables us to continually improve our service and provide a memorable experience to our valued guests. I do apologize that we did not meet your standards and hope that we will have another opportunity to wow you. Mike West, Director of Food & Beverage
Amazing! It is so beautiful, it is worth it. I was surprised to be charged for water, but other than that I love it every time! I do miss the blueberry scones but the food is amazing. Waiter and waitress were amazing and so sweet! I will definitely be back.
We are so pleased you chose dine with us and that you enjoyed Afternoon Tea in The Georgian. Thank you for your kind words and for taking the time to share your experience. We hope to have the pleasure of serving you again soon, for breakfast, lunch, or Afternoon Tea. Mike West, Director of Food & Beverage
Mom, sis and I enjoyed a ladies afternoon tea. We opted for the champagne tea. Each tea sandwich and dessert was delicious and beautiful. Jorge , our server was gracious and attentive.
The ability to smell all of the teas was a pleasant surprise and confirmed our choices.
Very nice place to have high tea. Beautiful hotel. The setup, ambience and food were just absolutely amazing!
The chicken sandwich was not tender, it was clearly a very poor quality product.
We had so much fun. The tables are far enough apart so noise is no problem. Food was delightful-particularly desert assortment.
We went on a weekday for the high tea, and it was lovely. They are truly experts in their tea service. We had the champagne to make it extra special. Highly recommend for a birthday or special occasion!
Hello and thank you for the lovely review! We strive to offer excellent service and appreciate hearing when guests have enjoyed their visit. Please visit us again soon. Mike West, Director of Food & Beverage
Went to champagne afternoon tea for a special occasion. Compared to other exclusive hotels, the food was lacking. Only received about 8 quarter sandwiches and three small cupcakes, followed by a small plate of scones for three people to share. The champagne was good, but could have been chilled more. Only one glass came with the service, not two. The tea was warm, not hot. Turned bitter after 10 minutes. They did serve us some chocolate covered strawberries which were great. The flow of the meal was off too. Had to request champagne first followed by food then tea and scones. Not traditional enough of an afternoon tea. No egg salad sandwiches, turkey, ham, or cucumber sandwiches. They need to add more than a small chocolate cupcake for a sweet. Would suggest a hot pot at the table. For reference, I’ve been to The Fairmont in Victoria, The Ritz in London, and The Peninsula in Hong Kong.
Good break-in to tea service, however, nothing like what you’d expect in London. None of the tiers are refillable and you only get one choice of tea which they refill with hot water instead of bringing you a fresh pot
The best in Seattle for sure.
While I love the atmosphere of The Georgian, the service and overall experience left much to be desired. My sister and I wanted to take our mother out to a special Mother’s Day tea but it ended being incredibly frustrating. Instead we ended up having waiting over 20 minutes just to have more cream brought to the table. By that time our tea was cold. This trend was reflected in every request we made. The staff were very nice but seemed to be in no rush to fulfill our needs. For $215, I expected a lot more. Overall I found it very lack luster.
I bought my wife a gift certificate for mother's day. When they went to pay they were told that the gift was bought in Canadian dollars and that they would still have to pay. It should have been clear about the money. This was a gift from my daughter to her mom, so a little embarrassing that Mom had to pay more. The food was not great, but the desserts and tea were good.
Wonderful ambiance and staff and food superb! Olympic Buffet is the way to go We’ll be back at a Christmas!
