Sunday Lunch
The Garrison Public House is a bustling neighbourhood restaurant at the heart of Bermondsey Streets creative community and just a short skip from the comestible delights of Borough Market. We take full advantage of being an independent restaurant; from our quirky, inimitable interior to our considered wine list and engaging staff, we make sure everything we do is done with The Garrison style. We are open everyday for lunch and dinner and our menu focuses on seasonal produce from our favourite artisan suppliers. Downstairs, our Cinema Room is available for private hire

The only disappointing element was there was no Christmas dinner option. It’s Christmas and not a slice of turkey in sight. Usually the Garrison cooks THE best turkey dinner, it was disappointing that it wasn’t on the menu.

The overall experience was quite good but the place was quite noisy and I couldn't hear the person in front of me without actually focusing on the words. The food was good but we waited a while before to see it arrive. However, I already went at the Garrison for a drink and it is a lovely place to have a glass of wine.

Stupendous food. The lamb and venison were outstanding. Far better than on previous visits.

One caveat. The dishes were a bit slow out of the kitchen - starters more than 30 minutes after ordering. However, this was the second night back after lockdown and it was understandable that the kitchen was not up to speed.

Hi Grahame, It's true we are not signed up to the Diner's Cheque scheme. A lot of restaurants on Opentable aren't and for future reference, you should find this information on the payment section of the restaurants main page. However the good news is we did find the cheque you left behind and are keeping it safe. We did try to call, but couldn't get through. If you wanted to give us a call we can mail it to you? Otherwise you are more than welcome to pick it up.

Nice restaurant and great atmosphere but prices are too high for the food. £22 for 4 small pieces of lamb and some carrots. Only sides available were fries (which don’t go) prices at £6. Would have complained at the time had this not been a special occasion. I know the restaurants have had a tough time of it but this long of thing will only make things worse. I for one won’t be going back.

Hi Firstly i would like to thank you for leaving a review with us both here and on TripAdvisor. I would to take this opportunity point out a little confusion as we do have several side dishes available to order at variable prices, with 'Fries' being our handcut chips (£5.5) we also have pink fir potatoes & mint, creamed hispi cabbage with parmesan & smoked pancetta (£4.5) & a mixed leaf side salad (£3.5) Thank you again and we hope to see you in the restaurant soon Thank you, The Garrison

When we turned up for our table at 8:30 we were told it was not ready as the previous people had not vacated the table. We waited until 8:55 to be seated, as the restaurant refused to move the previous table occupants on which seemed bizarre. We were then told the majority of food was sold out (the entire specials board) and that we needed to leave by 10pm. At which point we decided to leave.
The restaurant was massively understaffed, they were friendly but super stressed, the whole place was very badly managed. Really really disappointing as this used to be a favourite place of ours to go to.

Starters and mains were really great. All our starters were fresh and green and vibrant. We all had fish and chips, which were also superb, best piece of fish I’ve had in a long time. Where the kitchen missed a beat was puddings. They weren’t terrible but no near standard of the rest of the meal. Keenly priced Albariño was a great match for what we ate. Looking forward to eating there again, would love to see some more inspiration in puddings on offer

We had good service at the pub for lunch. Whilst the menu was limited the quality was high. The price was too much for lunch time. I wish there was a better choice of beers for a pub

Booked for Sunday lunch. Off to a bad start - they had no beer on draft other than lager. Opted for an (overpriced) can of pale ale. I know this is central London, but how do they justify £5.80 for a half pint can? Waitress brought a can of low alcohol pale ale, which I had specifically said I did NOT want. Didn't notice until I looked at the can, after drinking half of it. Decided not to make a fuss, as this was a bit of an occasion, having not met up with my two friends for the past six months. There was only a choice of two roasts-beef or chicken. It was OK - I've had better in other central London pubs. For desert, opted for date cake with toffee and Marmite sauce. Have to say, the toffee and Marmite sauce tasted a bit weird.
The bill was just over £50 a head for two courses and a couple of beers and 12.5% service. Not all that brilliant. I won't be back.

Food and service were good, it is quite noisy in there but to be expected. Only real downside was people hanging about by our table with no masks on waiting to speak to staff. Also quite a few diners not wearing masks around the venue. Appreciate it’s difficult for staff but for those of us trying to stick to guidelines it was frustrating.

We chose the bottomless brunch option on Saturday - service was good but the food portions were very small for the price.
